Farren Ray

I can't read the Her Sun article because I'm too tight to pay $2.95.

But it does sound as though he is coming too us. If somebody could provide a link that would be great!

I like the sound of this article. Pedersen, Ray, Dawes, Brynes and possibly wellingham. Sounds nice to me :) i would probably prefer to drop wellingham from the list so we still have pick 4 though. I don't really think Ray would be as good as some to pick up but you never know

Farren Ray is a step backwards. I can't see what he adds. Never set the world on fire at WB or St Kilda. Nor physical. I think it is a short term decision, if we do it. It would suggest to me that we would be looking to delist a LOT of players!

Agree. Entirely underwhelmed by this news

Farren Ray is an excellent running outside player who is described as a ball magnet by a Bulldog friend of mine.

It's his disposal that is questionable, but may have improved in this area over the last couple of years.

Only 26 could be a good get.

So if we look at a player and do "Due Diligence" that means Melbourne are over the line in Recruiting him.

If that were the case we would be recruiting 40 players from the National Draft and 30 OOC players from the Gillete Draft.

The Hun just needs stories to fill up space.

Like every article that was written about GCS picking Viney at 2

It didn't happen and nether will this.

Our uncontested footy was deplorable this year. Ray and Byrnes are not perfect but they will definitely help us reduce the gap between the number of uncontested possessions we get and the number the opposition gets. It's a worthwhile investment. We will still have plenty of kids on the list and Viney and few others added as well.

Just use either of the following:

Trust me. I use them, because I'm also too cheap!

At least at 26 Ray has a few years of footy ahead of him unlike Rodan, Lynch, Byrnes etc. But the quick fix approach we seem to be adopting is concerning.

Byrnes is the only quick fix that we have taken, at least at this stage. Lets not judge until it is all washed up.

Latest on Ray: Chris Pelchen, recruiting manager for St.Kilda said Melbourne had approached them regarding Ray. Said he is contracted and would like Ray to stay. Ray's management has told St.Kilda unless there is more opportunities to play at St.Kilda, would like to pursue other opportunities at another club perhaps.

Pelchen said, it's very early days, early discussion. And a fair way to go.

Says to me they are open to a trade with Ray.

Farren can play no doubt about it. Personally I hope we get him. Everyone knows I was sceptical with the Neeld appointment while accepting we have to get behind him. Byrnes, Ray, Wellingham, Dawes, Viney and a couple of other experienced bodies and Melbourne are looking good all of a sudden. As Neeld said, "things turn around quickly". Who knows...could yet be the year of the Demon.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
