It's the AFL's way of rubbing in the fact that Melbourne not only doesn't have any players in the league's top 22, but also the top 40 as well.

As always a lot of blokes getting by on reputation - Nick Riewoldt, Lenny Hayes, Rioli, Harry Taylor, Corey Enright - I'm not convinced by any of those guys. Jones was the only you could even dream about from Melbourne but I'm not overly fussed with him missing out, he isn't quiet in the 22 anyway.

FB: Reilly Richards Dempster

HB: Birchall McPharlin Deledio

C: Jack Mitchell Dangerfield

FF: Franklin Hawkins Petrie

Foll: Jacobs, Cotchin, Ablett

Int: Cox Watson Pendlebury Kennedy

5 clubs not represented: Melbourne, GWS, Port, Bulldogs, Brisbane.

Suck on that Brisbane!

Sorry for Jones. He deserved the recognition.

But what I'm really sorry about is the freakin inclusion of Naitanui. This is going to give Range Rover ammunition for the next six months.

Unbelievable that Melbourne does not have ONE player in the league's best 40.

Well not really.

Sorry but NikNat is not an AA. Nor is Milne, Lonergan or Betts

It's also not the leagues "best 40". They have to fit backs, rucks, etc for roles to make up a team. If it was the leagues actual best 40 it'd have a lot more mids.

top 60 players.....Jones on the outside at that stage.

Sorry for Jones. He deserved the recognition.

Not a bull's roar chance.

At the beginning of the year I wanted Jones to be our Brad Sewell. It was the challenge I threw down in my own mind. He's done that. Sewell has had a great year and so has Jones. They both missed top 40, because they're a smidgen off that league.

I'm comfortable with that.

Im not overly fussed, after all, its just a list of players.

But i do think that jones has had his best season yet, and is probably been better than beams, or even pendlbury this year.

As i said, I'm not particularly fussed, there isn't anyone else from melbourne i would consider.

except Clark had he played out the season perhaps.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
