Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Brent Moloney Departing MFC

It's funny that, everyone on here abusing players for not training hard enough etc. Brent was one who pushed these young 'stars' at training and the gym. Cook didn't like it. Watts sulked after the boxing camp because it was to tough, James Mcdonald told him to harden up as he was a professional footballer. Now the two of them are gone.

The "Moloney made Cook cry" is a complete myth that has been falsly perpetuated based on the misconstrued observations of one guy from the opposite side of the ground, two years ago. I really wish we'd stop saying this bullsheet as if it is indisputable fact.

If you read the report that this all stemmed from, it was Troy Davis that Moloney abused and spat at for a start. That's hardly what I'd call commendable leadership.

Its a shame how its turned out. He definitely had issues with Mark Neeld, vice/versa. Neelds not here to make friends i guess. We are going to have a very different looking team next year. I wonder how far this cull will go?

I don't know if this part is 100% accurate, not in the initial stages anyway. From memory, might have been one of The Coach's Office segements earlier, Neeld was very excited at the prospect that Moloney would be returning "soon" and how much better/stronger our midfield would be with him in it.

Perhaps the blind faith Neeld put in some players was led by last year's Bluey winner?

Their was one big difference Mclean had a contract at Carlton.

Moloney is out of contract.

I have no doubt that if he had a contract for 2013 there would a tenth of the talk about Moloney as there is now.

Davey is in a similar boat but almost no talk about him as he is contracted for 2013

"Will Beamer be allowed the same chance at Dees if so will he want to stay....."

Spot on Billy. If there are players who don't want to do the work required, then they can leave - I have no issues with that.

There are players out there who would bust their balls to get an opportunity to play AFL. If Moloney doesn't like what Neeld is preaching, I have no problem with him leaving.

Ahhhhhh .... if only we had 22 players like Nathan Jones & Mitch Clark!!

another disaster that is 100% Neelds fault. Moloney is a life long Melbourne supporter and for him to quit you know there are massive internal problems. He should have been made captain after winning the B & F but instead was dumped from the leadership group. The biggest insult is two boys who have played 30 games each were given the job over him. Moloney lost his confidence and he became a shaddow of himself on and off the field. The rest is history.

It is the coaches main task to get the most out of his players. Hallo this is why teams have coaches. Neeld does not get the most out of our players. Most of the list has gone several steps backwards under his rule.

Neeld must be fired. He is the biggest mistake the club has made since sacking Norm Smith. Neeld is a complete disaster. Anyone who suggests otherwise is seeing the world in rose colored glasses as the pain of the reality is too hard to take. Wake up and smell the coffee supporters of Neeld. Pretending something that is not, blind faith against reality will only end up making the disaster more damaging.

I beg the board. Please fire this joke of a coach.

Unfortunately we only have 2, and not only do we need another 22 of them to fill a side on a weekend, we need to have another 20-odd on top of that to allow for our injuries!

Buggered if I know where we are going to get all these players from, but I think after this clean out, we will be a long way further back than GC/GWS. How can we not be?

What a sad ending.

I'm not sorry to see him go, because no matter how [censored] or unhappy he was, that is no excuse to play like he did this year and not put in for your teammates. It's a pissweak excuse.

Jared Rivers and Brad Green got dropped out of the leadership group too, and neither spent this year sulking like a little girl and playing such selfish football.

I am far from a Neeld fan, in fact, I am very very suspicious of his overall methods and his ability to succeed long term, but on this I justify his position.

Moloney is a bully on the field, he is selfish, he plays on his own terms, and he is 29 next year.

He won't be around to win a flag, and he won't help develop our other players to win one either.

I wish him all the very best in the future and hold no hard feelings. While he wanted to be at the club, he did a good job on and off the field for the most part. But as soon as things didn't go according to his plan, he lost his sh*t and that sort of toxic behaviour helps nobody, especially his own form.

I personally think Brent and his bully antics attributed to our teams poor culture. Imagine having someone pointing and yelling at u at work all day.

We have not been a successful side at all since he has been a part of the MFC and I don't think that its a coincidence. Hopefully now his gone things can change for the better.

agree. could you ever see lenny hayes or simon black doing that to there teamates?

Aside from being a good player, Beamer was one of the only modern-era players I felt had the same love for the club and guernsey as we the supporters do.

I have a love for the club but can't get a kick to save myself. I want my players to be passionate about their football and team success but at the end of the day they are professionals who play for compensation. I can think of no more professional and committed footballer than Chris Judd and how he puts in 100% for his second club, Carlton.

Rather than bleeding red and blue I would prefer a few more footballers that bleed 40 disposals a game at 80% efficiency.

Does Neeld think he's the next Kerry Packer? Deciding to bring in a whole new team, still call them the "Melbourne Demons", but will pick the bones out of every team until he finds the "best" list, then launch an all out assault on becomming the best in the world.

I wonder how many players out there "have a little bit of [censored]" in them? It's normally the other way around for me... B)

That sums it up really. I don't want any player in our team who doesn't put in 100%, no matter the circumstance. The fact that some of our players recently kicked in $30,000 of their own money to help the Club build a better playing list - that says to me that there are some genuine believers in this Neeld system. Moloney does not fit this game style, as he is far too one-dimensional. At another Club, probably will do well but as Jaded said, not going to help us win more games.

Ok I understand people being critical of Mark, but this sort of talk is pointless. It's not going to happen, he will be here for a minimum of one more year (and honestly unless we have a worse 2013 than 2012 I think he'll be given the full term). Be critical, but what is the point of bleeting about something that's not going to happen?

On topic, sad to see Brent go, he's been a favourite player of mine since he came to the club but we are building our culture and style from the ground up if he really was dedicated to the MFC he would be willing to buy in to it. He's had a poor year, last year he was good against soft opposition and soft against good opposition, that is not what we want going forward.

I genuinely wish him the best of luck, he has been a good player for us over the journey and I wouldbe happy for him if he finds himself at a club that will give him finals success.

If we have the same success as he did with World Series Cricket we'll be doing pretty well!

It's simple, if he doesn't want to be a part of the future at the MFC, he can [censored] off to Carlton or somewhere else...

You are part of the solution or part of the problem. Brent has nominated his choice.

At this point in time its hard to defend Neeld. He's definitely fracturing the club more than it already was, which i didn't even think was possible. For Moloney to up and leave was something no one would have seen coming 12 months ago.

Whose saying this was Neelds call?

Quite a presumptuous thing to say with no factual evidence.....

Would you pay Moloney $500,000 a year to play at Casey?

Wasn't there talk that he wanted to go to Essendon last year?

Is he? i am becoming more confident that he will pull out the other side with one group who are willing to do what it takes and will back each other.

In what way has he fractured the club?

He would have told Brent that he needs to improve if he wants to play, if you dont want to, look else where? seems fine to me, it is what iexpect.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
