This morning on SEN they were talking about our trumpeter. I was half asleep so I missed it but according to Demonology he has been suspended for being to long on the ground then being rude to an AFL official.

He has been suspended for 2 home games meaning he will miss the pies game. God I hope this is true.

The bugler is emblematic of our club being about everything but football. I'd be happy never to see or hear from him again.

Stuie, you beat me to it!

It's funny because in theory it's a shocker of an idea for a club thats perceived to be too white collar to have a guy in a velvet smoking jacket play the bugle before the game. In reality I kind of like it. it's one of those weird quirky sports things that feels like it could just be something we do. Why do we have the banners? I tried to explain that to a friend of mine from the US and couldn't come up with anything, yet I'd hate to see them go.

Also, the irony of the Bugle Boy being the only one to show some fight and getting into a fracas with an official is not lost on me. Get that boy a jumper and some boots! :)

Like him or not, you have to admit he's much improved in his rendition. Every time he played it last year I was worried about him stuffing it up, I don't think he's got a note wrong this year

I think there are two trumpeters, so as long as our second bloke comes on through the interchange we should be right v Pies. The incident with the AFL official (a ferocious looking lady) happened right in front of me and my son. We had a giggle at the time because this woman had really played up her ire (in that stage-manager style) over the fact that the coin had been tossed and regulation 326b, regarding tempo of theme songs, had clearly been breached. Mr Trumpeter looked embarrassed, after all, he had landed the gig and he had started on cue. I think I heard him say to the lady official "Where were you when Meatloaf outstayed his wecome!" before trudging off.

I like it.

In: Bugler

Out: Sylvia

Also agree with your point about it being one of those quirks in world sport that makes the goings on more interesting.

Hope he comes back after his two-week ban champing at his mouthpiece.

Not sorry if he's gone. Forget the Junior sacking - or demise started when this bloke turned up. Prefer he stays away.

Unless he surrounds himself with a few mates and starts doing "Hold On I'm Coming" or "25 or 6 to 4"

He might be better adding 'The last Post' to his repertoire.

I'd agree, if we don't eliminate all the serpents in and around the club...

That's right B I didn't see him at the Roy Boys last game. Maybe he's at home learning it now.

Over the past 5 seasons we have turned over many players, coaching staff, Medical staff, a board, new Admin staff but one thing still remains the Bugler, it is time to place the entire blame of our poor performing club onto this constant, the Bugler is our problem not our players or game play.

Could he play Half Back when he returns from Suspension??

Seriously though, time for it to end, it's the sort of thing you do when you're winning, not when you're rubbish.

It's still not as bad as the flag being hoisted before a game, that was a low.

We get what we deserve with the trumpeteer because people clap along with it and generally love it. Cringeworthy.

Then no-one will talk about JW.

I am another who hates the bugler and cringes with embarassment every time he pomps out there to play. I agree with Supermercado the flag hoist was a new low for the club and I am glad they saw the sense to ditch it after one game.

I don't think they need to get rid of the bugler altogether though - what I would like to see (and what I think he originally started as) is for him to remain in the crowd and begin playing the bugle towards the end of games when we have secured a win (similar to Joffa and Kennett with their jackets except not completely stupid).

Now granted this would mean we would have no need for him this year and he will end up at Centrelink in Toorak (do they even have one out that way?) but it would be a much better way to utilise him, less cringeworthy and would get the crowd involved in singing "Grand Old Flag" in the stands on the way to a win.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
