Dees v Eagles prediction

I know most people think the odds are against the Dees but I get the feeling that this weekend could be the turning point.

Having read a few articles from the players like Grimes talking about the game-plan and Bartram itching to go it has given me some confidence in the guys this weekend.

Last week was round 1, the lions were probably under-rated and the game plan was still fresh.

Now they have seen there mistakes and know what must be done, not only that but West Coast would be underrating the dees this week also.

With all the crap in the media as well going on I think that there could be a really good upset this weekend. We all know inside that the guys have the ability, and I think going in as big under dogs that it could be unleashed this weekend as they have no big expectations besides keeping a spot in the first 22 so they will all come out hard.

With guys like Petterd to come in who can tackle like a machine i think it should be a good match with a few suprises.

- we have suffered massive distractions over the last 3 weeks

I am natually optomistic about the Dess.

However, I give us no chance this weekend. Zero.

It has not been since 2009 that I have gone into a game giving us no hope of a win. I did not expect to feel so lowly of our team for another decade.

Melbourne to be galvanised and come out strongly and throw their body's around like maniacs, matching West Coast's stronger bodied and more skilled line up in front a parochial crowd with pure heart and soul they have for the club and jumper. Lead swaps continually through the game before Melbourne kick 3 on the trot in the last to win by 14 points.

In reality, lead blows out early, and the same old players drop their heads, and begin going through the motions. West Coast cruise home and start showboating with dominance and arrogance late in the game to win by 86 points. Brad Green then fronts the media to talk about how he isn't sure what happened, and that they are looking forward to a big week on the track and a chance to redeem themselves at the G next week.

WC have a tradition of never going easy on us. They are always brutal. I expect the worst. One positive thing we may see is if there is any residue character in us to play out 4 quarters and evidence of the birth of a nascent backbone.

There is a chance WCE may feel sorry for us and forfeit

But sadly I doubt any of these things will happen

but I would hope if we are being obviously beaten up by half time, we will switch to a plan b such as man-on-man or flooding even if these are not the game-plan

there is no point risking an incredible blow out, and anyway players have to learn how to change the tempo of a game

Option 1:

- We actually have a crack. Neeld some how manages to rally the troops and gets everyone on the same page. They come out breathing fire, uping our tackling count to 20+ the opponent. We look to switch the ball more and use our run and kick long into our 50. We get up and about and go into half time close, maybe down by a goal or 2. Come out third and give the same effort and go down in a close one. Gathering some momentum to beat the tigers round 3.

Option 2:

- Same pathetic effort and players already looking to board the plane home at quarter time. No heart, no passion and no effort... 100+

If (as we have heard) have gone with gameplan built around defence then there should not be any way we will get a massive drubbing, but we didn't look good last week, and we haven't played well there for a few years either.

I reckon we will lose, but if we are able to hold things together for 4 quarters instead of 1 and a bit quarters, I still reckon we will struggle to win, but the loss will be a respectable one (less than 6 goals)
