Honestly. Its time we share the Queens birthday match.

'Thanks very much for letting us have in for the past 15 years. But we are back on our feat now.'

It would be great to hear that from the club. Especially as Eddie is holding it over us like a bully.

The QB match is our fixturing request. As far as I know Collingwood DO NOT have input in terms of this game as a fixturing request, preffering to request Premium slots, ANZAC Day, etc. It suits them because 1) They get an additonal game at the MCG where their premium members have seats 2) They are part of a stand alone fixture so still get publicity, profile, exposure from it 3) They get to claim they are being charitable

We can always request to play QB against someone else, say Richmond and Collingwood can play Freo at Docklands in a Sunday twilght.

Regarding the QB's game, I hate the notion that we are indebted to the Pies. On several occasions, Eddie has threatened to take the game of us.

Why can't it be the other way around? Hypothetically thinking, I'd much rather play Richmond, alternating who's home game it is each year and really starting a strong rivalry with them.

If both clubs experience success in the not too distant future, on public holiday the game would easily attract well over 50k.

I agree JB. Richmond supporters have been going to the G for 2 generations. I think if Richmond ever drag themselves out of the bottom half of the ladder for a sustained period this fixture could easily surpass Collingwood in terms of attendance year-in/year-out.

Notice how the afl website has nothing on the story. Maybe the boss will ask for a please explain and remind him who runs this league.

I was always very impressed that he got our plight and let us have QB. Just a reminder that this guy does nothing from the goodness of his heart

I can see it now, crackr E'd & Vlad in a secret rendevous meeting discussing putting a Lid on the loud Dees.

The meeting would be like a Poll Pot Party. Just add ricky.

"We are happy to just go long and we create our own people, we find them and train them and groom them."

I'm sure Malthouse will be very content and can finally rest easy now that he knows who it was who found him, trained him and groomed him

I'm sure Green, Davey, Sylvia, & others are relieved any approaches from E'd anywhere Have Been just a joke.

Eddies going to say what Eddie says he is angry at the world because Pendles announced to the club that he will not be at the club in 2013, so let hime have his rant the football world will scoff and all will be well...Not saying Pendles is going to GWS either but quote me he is gone and they know it already.

I agree. We might take a bit of a hit in the pocket a first but I'm pretty sick of the day being spoken about like it's a freakin' charity funraiser for us. Talk to Richmond, share it as a home game and tell those toothless scum they are not welcome on our ground that day.

No. The QB fixture with the filth must remain even if it is shared.

Neeld v Buckley is going to be a great rivalry.

Yep , spot on .

Thomas takes an age to sign , Pendlebury signs a 1 year only deal , Cloke hasn't extended his contract and is a free agent at years end , Swan talks about retirement , they've sacked their premiership coach and according to Eddie , Nathan has to deliver a flag in his 1st year .

They had a great thing going and now look . If they lose Pendlebury and/or Cloke , their window is shut IMO .

Cheers

The Club would be wrong to say that and they should sack their copyrighter. B)

I reckon 50 years of sustained success at Tigerland will get them close to the Pies.

True. We are a long way away from being out of the woods yet. Hence selling games to Darwin.

Still,we are no where near how bad we were 5-10 years ago.

It's not like we would be giving up the rights every year. Just every second year.

I don't like the idea of playing another team on Queens birthday. The rivalry with Collingwood goes back a long way.

We just need to re-stoke it a little bit. Poaching some more of there staff would be a good start.

Smashing them for the next 10 years would be a nice touch aswell.

And their fans were talking "Dynasty" after 2010 . Not going to happen .

Can't stand GW$ but I hope they throw the kitchen sink at Pendlebury . We might have a go at Travis .

That'll teach 'em

Cheers

He has no point whatsoever.

Eddie's a great business man, smart, but arrogant as hell, and a patronising [censored] at times. Must be hard working your arse off to get Melbourne up and going again, only to have this guy speak about your club like as if it's nothing.

The guy is butthurt and frustrated.

It's fair game. This always happens: someone goes out of contract, and he/she is offered a job elsewhere. Just so happens we have someone close to Collingwood staff.

He's a butthurt moron sometimes. Love listening to him in the mornings, but Jesus Christ he can be an [censored].

What a terrible 24 hours for the pies .

All criminals belong at Collingwood or in jail so it was disappointing to hear about Andrew Krackouers knee today .

Hope he is right for season 2013 whether he remains in or out of the can .

By that time Collingwood should have imploded like a failed Souffle` and with some luck Eddie will be a deep puce colour in the face .

Oh Karma-thank you .

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
