Some of the hand wringing here is overdone.

There is no doubt Holmes has not been clearly open with the Board on the offer to Scully senior. And he and the Club have been badly exposed for it. It was a poor commercial slip up by a CEO and he has paid the price for it.

The perils of the GWS have also been the perils of other Clubs over the past couple of years.

Now there was one club that sacked their coach and were going to sack their CEO instead.....

You know that for a fact do you?

The contrast with the gold coast is amazing. GWS is an abdolute circus.

That's what happens when you have a bloke that thinks he's god's gift to the AFL (in Allen) and a fella that is so loopy, he was chucked out of the mental asylum coz he scared the [censored] out of the shrinks there (in Sheedy).

So true I can't believe the difference between the two. The question is when did Phil scully agree to the job and when was it offered to him? I doubt the AFL gives a damn the draw is out soon and then something else will come up and it's all going to be let through to the keeper.

The job was offered to fat Phil when $cummy agreed to go and that was probably last year

In actual fact the 'rumour' was that his contract was not going to be renewed. So that is a different situation. Unfortunately for DB he blinked first!

I don't agree that the perils of GWS are the perils of other clubs, GWS are yet to play a game, have no supporters and are almost wholly funded by the AFL (meaning the us/other clubs). It looks to an outsider that those who are running GWS are going about it like cowboys, drunk with the money and power the AFL has vested in them. There has been no humility from their group. Allen, Stibbard, Holmes and now even Tom'$ Dad have all set a pi55 poor example. I reckon you will see it come back and bite them on the rrrr's. They are developing a culture which is bound to lead to failure and take a lot of $$$ with it.

Surely this blatant rubbing our noses in the stink of $cully's departure ( " oh I haven't decided yet") - and by this I mean that anyone ( such as an AFL CEO ) who suggests that this matter of the employment of $cully Senior hasn't been pre-arranged since before the foundation of the solar system - is just a way to boost attendance and ratings as we realise how totally and ridiculously and painfully we have been serviced by GW$ and is meant to encourage a greater degree of interest in our forthcoming encounters.

It will be interesting to see if the players take a dim view of the deceit with which the MFC has been treated at the appropriate time.

"The Age" are reporting that Holmes will receive a 6 month payout - which was how much time he had on his contract .

You can bet he would have signed a confidentiality agreement so we may not hear much from his lips .

So if that's the case why wasn't it announced at the time of tom leaving that phil had also signed up? Very dodgy. I can't wait to smash them next year.

i mean sheedys son as a recruiter, .... trying to milk the AFL to line there own pockets

I hadn't heard of this, but IF it is true,

IMO the AFL MUST sack Sheedy now.

This attitude stinks. If it doesn't happen, then the AFL simply has no buisness ethics on this sort of governance issue - again in my opinion.

It has been suggested that there could be a connection between the sacking and a failure to reveal all to the board.

The condition of a star recruit's knee and other parts of his body might be involoved as well.

The inside word is that it wasn't just one thing - but it was the straw that broke the camels back and it wasn't the Scully Snr thing believe it or not.

Mainly an alleged interaction w female staff member was the rumour and the Scully thing wasnt a good look.

Ah, so the club is beginning to emulate St. Kilda in terms of it's culture.

Wonderful.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
