If your story is true, that's even more reason why he shouldn't have been out drinking at 2am with a recovery session the next day.

As another poster said, in the end this could make him a better player and one who now understands that being a great "club man", off the field, means a lot more than being out with your mates on the [censored].

He showed in today's presser and the honesty he showed, that maybe he now gets it.

Lead by example - the ball is in his court.

No, the ball is in the palm of HIS hands.

We all want him to handle the pill cleanly, and to dish off a healthy and successful club, at the end of his tenure.

True.

And, that's why it's not a good idea to go and get trashed during the season - do what you like out of season.

I think he'll be reading Tea leavs in the future.

Grant Thomas on Footy Classified tonight suggests Moloney should have legal grounds to proceed against MMM while at the same time implying if he doesn't then maybe where there's smoke etc.

One of the issues must remain Eddie and Co.'s failure to use the mute button until the "facts" could be checked.

Of course the same policy absolutely would not have been followed were the allegation about a Collingwood player.

Garry Lyon was saying that this is the second time this year Eddie has launched at a Melbourne player this year.

I really rate Beamer his attitude to the club and game has

Been exemplary I think this is a blip a mistake which was blown

Out of proportion I hope he continues his form. He is currently a key

Ingredient of which we have little and that's hardness around the ball.

I wish him the best he'd certainly be very embarrassed.

I just love his passion for the MFC and want to see him back at his best.

Posted

Agreed Diablo.

He made a mistake that he will learn from.

He was embarrassed and made an apology. Think most of us have been there. I have. Club has made their position clear.

He has been in All Australian form the last couple and I hope this is the spur for him to push on all year.

People who don't make mistakes don't make anything.

I wish we had a few more like him on the field and just love to watch him play.

I have to say I have some sympathy with this view. These FM radio stations get away with murder these days with their encouragement of muck raking and gossip mongering.

Chuck enough mud and some is bound to stick. Moloney will now be referred to as "that bloke that peed on the bar" by any number of ignoramuses who couldn't focus their short attention spans on the truth of the story as it unfolded.

There's a whiff of character assassination about it in my opinion and tossbags like Eddie McGuire and his station head mates are directly to blame, you are right.

The winner here is the MFC. Handled with class, including Beamers press conf comments and will now move on, a lesson learned and continuation of solid standards at the club.

Has anyone considered poor Eddie. Now at a low rating FM station, predictable show, up at 4.00am while most of us are tucked up in bed and wondering everyone moring ..."How did I end up here?"....

Eddie should apologise to Beamer in my view he failed to check the facts with the nightclub before allowing someone to smear Beamer.

Ok to have a go at Beamer for late night drinking but the rest was uncalled for. If it had been a Collingwood player I reckon he would have exercised restraint and checked the facts.

If you drank with him on a consistent basis then maybe it has some credibility. But you drank with him once and made an assumption on that day that he's a lightweight. Ridiculous and irrelevant to what happened today. Name dropping at it's finest.

[content deleted]

The fact is he was drinking excessively and has been branded as having an alcohol problem.

I just shared what little first-hand experience I had.

Completely agree with you, Beamer is one of my favourite players but if what's alleged proves to be true he should be given a holiday, possibly even stepped down from being a VC. We still have a very young team and we must steadfastly stick to our player conduct policies, which this would certainly be a breach.

Of course, at the moment all we have is a caller from Tripple M so I'm sure the club will do a thorough investigation.

I think it is far to harsh his penalty given. Maybe a weeks suspension and suspended from the leadership group for, say, 4 weeks, ma have been a more reasonable outcome.Come on Beamer behave and stick it up all of us for the rest of the season. Show us what you are made up of.

Ok so I owe Brent an aplogy.

You don't half as much as Eddie Everywhere owes an apology. Seems to me there is a case for suing for slander (there are still people, even demons supporters, posting comments which assume he did [censored] on the bar). Or at least demand an apology.

Garry Lyon was saying that this is the second time this year Eddie has launched at a Melbourne player this year.

Are you sure it was Lyon that stated that ? I was pretty sure it was Caroline Wilson ? Big difference there IMO.

Did anyone listen to the hot breakfast this morning. Was there an apology made. As Grant Thomas said if that caller was going to mention a pies players do you reckon the call would have been put through. I noticed on there twitter page they said they heard they got a mention on Footy Classified and were going to check the tape.

Imagine if JB went on radio this afternoon on the rush hour and a caller rang up and said I saw a pies player out drunk and then JB and Bill spoke about it and put the pies players name to air. Ed would be furious.

Did anyone else hear on Footy Classified last night when Caro played a comment where also on the hot breakfast Mick Molloy was talking about Troy Taylor walking out on richmond and going back home to Alice Springs and Ed said something along the lines of dont worry he will go to another club and star meaning he was talking aboput Jurrah. Iknow Caro cops it but at least she has the guts to have a go at top people int he game. Move on Ed you lost Jurrah years ago and obviously you didnt help him in the way we have.

Posted

I reckon the position the club has taken has actually leaves the door open for him to be reinstated for the second half of the year, he's pledged to the club that he will do everything he can to win back the respect of his teammates and get himself back into the leadership group.

I watched it, interesting little digs Eddie says from time to time. It obviously rubbed Wilson up the wrong way.

So far on her segment "Caro's Arrow" she's nailed Demetriou for his no-show at Gold Coast's inaugural match (instead dining at the MYER launch) against the Blues and now Eddie talking on his own breakfast show.

I reckon Clarko, Kennett, Nixon or Fevola are next.....

I remember him making a comment on the Footy Show about how Jeff White should have ended up at Collingwood.. paraphrasing, it was something like 'all things being equal.. but they never are!'

absolute whinging parasite tool

Just want to know if there are some double standards here and what sort of message players are getting out of this. I agree that off field issues need to be dealt with swiftly as they can undermine a clubs culture and set a bad example to young players. However my contention is that weve taken the ruthless approach to beamer here. We seem to be very tolerant of players whos on field performances, output and effort are consistently poor however as soon as a bloke goes out a couple of hours too late and consumes a couple of drinks too many he gets crucified. Moloney is a great leader of our club- one of the many few and surely were much worst off now without him in the position of VC. Couldnt it have been used as a warning and we all move on and get ready for this weekend??? This is going to really hurt beamer im afraid

I was being flippant with an earlier post about comparing your tolerance of Moloney's antics but intolerance of Watts efforts...

And now you are indulging in just that.

You can argue that Watts isn't doing his job well, but Brent didn't do his job at all hours before a recovery and match review session that I am sure would be rather important considering how his teammates are travelling at the minute.

I am sure a functioning Brent Moloney, as VC, would be more value (and desired) at that session than a hungover Brent Moloney...

It's incomparable to 'poor on field performances, output and efforts.'

The disappointing thing is we've played right into Eddies hands .

Sacked the VC , mission accomplished .

Sheesh .

Judd's Grandmother told me she saw Eddie slip something into Moloney's water.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
