Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Beamer in trouble ...

I think your extending your fantasy beyond resposible for someone who hasn't blotted the copybook.

So until we understand the situation and circumstances, we should just keep to labeling it unacceptable.

Did you read the post I was replying to, which you wrote??!

I wasn't the one who infered Beamer was lashing out. I'm pretty sure he just acted like an immature, irresponsible player.

Sorry Benno, I normally like reading you posts, but what has this got to do with it? I'm sure James would say the same thing that the current leadership group would be saying.

everything. last year we had an excellent behaviour record. now junior is gone and this happens. im sure he would have told beamer to pull his head in before he even got started (if he was there).

the whole club needs to use this as a learning experience.

The Fev urination incident was a non-issue media beatup.

As an AFL player though, you should know these actions are scrutinised and it will come back to bite you.

My concern is that he was so drunk he decided it was ok to urinate on the bar.

Once again, assuming it is true.

These incidents are prone to severe cases of Chinese whispers.

I agree with what you say. But to me this seems WAY out of charachter. I'm in No Way condoning this. It's disgraceful. But IMO there must be much more to relly understanding this, before we setup a tone where the football club may overreact to appease the heaving masses.

Lets wait to here that the club has spoken to Beamer to find out whats going on.. If it was just straight out decadence, then he needs to be dealt with. Some how, I don't get that feeling about Beamer.

I had written an enormous post on how every person can often sneak into an alley as the toilets are full, inaccessible or whatever. I jumped onto the HeraldSun website just to check thats where it was and I re-read that he had urinated on a bar. In all my years, working at a bar and attending one I've never had anyone urinate on the bar.

Moloney. In the words of my favourite American commentator "Come on man".

So Junior was a better leader than Neitz? I'm sure there were a few off-field incidents when Neitz was in charge.

I'm quite sure that the rest of this year's leadership group, including the captain, will pull Moloney aside this week and take appropriate actions, just like it would've had Mcdonald been there this year.

Are you saying that Brad Green and other players were out with Beamer? And they didn't step in and tell him to pull his head in, when he had his head out? I'd be questioning Junior's leadership if he were in the position to stop Moloney, especially considering it was around 2:30am. I'd like to think our current skipper would be well and truly tucked up in bed by then.

Sorry mate, I'm probably reading between the lines too much when I'm questioning your criticism of our current Captain.

sorry when was it decreed that footballers are not even allowed to drink anymore, or do you have no idea what you're talking about but made the comment anyway. Of course they can hit the gas the night after a game, it is not illegal.

I can't believe that in these days of the totally professional football player, players that are paid extremely good money to perform athletic feats, players that have training and diet regimes planned with meticulous care to get the best performance - that you can say that is in any way shape or form acceptable ??? ( because it's not illegal !!! - please)

Leaving aside whether or not he urinated on a bar - being out at 2:30 am and intoxicated is the best way to recover from a game and get yourself right for the next week ?????

You have set sports science back 20 years.

Somethings going on, thats unsettling him. We don't know what that is. Only that this sounds way out of charachter for Beamer.

You seem to be suggesting you know a fair bit about Moloney's character; is that right?

(Honest question, because I don't; I just watch the footy. I've seen him a couple of times at some Melb-related functions and that's it).

Fine him, but let him play. We need him to play, but if cops a fine it sends a message to anyone else who breaks the teams rules. That, and the money can go back into the club.

Beamer is a good sort, I am sure he was just having a bad night.

Just glad it isn't Sylvia!

The club needs to make a statement, he deserves to be kicked out of the leadership group. That is all the punishment he needs.

Agreed.

That will be the most painful punishment for him and it won't cost the team. The rest of the players don't deserve to miss out on a vital player helping them out because he stuffed up.

The club can then reassess his leadership position and review his standing mid season.

I really like Moloney as a player and he is not a serial offender so we shouldn't hang him for this, but as a leader you don't get multiple opportunities to stuff up.

If Beamer's smart, all he has to do is say that the Fevola influence has already started at the Club, and that Casey should never have signed him up.

I get that it's a joke, but I reckon it's worth noting that there's a big difference between 'urinating in public', outside a nightclub, and urinating on a bar.

How about he just dose Community Service working with people who Alcohol has ruined there lives this week, he doesn't play on Sunday and if he dose these well, He can train again with the boys in the bye and then play west coast. Maybe spending time with people whose life has been ruined due to over drinking may change his behavior????

Are you suggesting that maybe he should play the next couple of rounds with the Casey reserves?

Just kidding (obviously)

C&B, you've got to be kidding if you think taking a slash on a bar is "harmless". What would you do if you were standing at the bar ordering a drink and the bloke next to you flopped it out and starting having a piss right in front of you? I know, you'd pat him on the back and say "no worries mate, no harm done", right?

Confucius say "man who get 36 possessions should not show public he's cocky".

Love it!

Now as for Beamer, so far we have confirmed that he was out late and drunk. Sylvia was out late and copped a fine, so by extension Beamer (added weight of being a leader and VC) who was out late and drunk has to get a worse punishment. Fine for sure and larger than Sylvia, plus suspension/sacking from VC 'or' suspension from 1 game (not bye). Now before you all howl me down because we need him, I am trying to impose my general views on footy scandals. Everytime a player does something stupid (Riewoldt, Fev, Didak, Shaw etc), if I see them getting off lightly it infuriates me. I am always saying that if the AFL and the Clubs want the players to uphold certain standards they have to punish these misdemeanours accordingly. A 5k fine is not that much really for these guys, it stings, but it's obviously not enough to alter their behaviour. They need to get serious about sending a message that things like this are not tolerable. Then 'if' it is found that he did urinate in a bar, then all the options I mentioned above must apply and probably a longer suspension. One to bring it in line with the scale of Sylvias misdemeanour and penalty, and two to bring it in line with public expectations. It is not a crime to stay out late and get drunk, but highly frowned on for footy players who earn a fortune and are due at a recovery session in a couple hours. It is also not a crime to urinate in public, it will get you picked up by the cops and fined, but is HIGHLY frowned on by most right minded people and especially indoors in a bar. It is unacceptable behaviour for anyone and should not be tolerated by anyone. Putting off the investigation or suspension till a bye is just stupid and reeks of arrogance and ignorance of behavioural requirements. I hate to lose him and will even more so if we were to lose to GCS, but it is the only right way to go in this instance.

Footballers can do what the F%^k they like,I couldn't care less, however, footballers who are serious about success and maximising performances would not have done what Beamer is alledged to have done, they would have been firmly focused on recovery in an effort to give them the best opportunity to win next week.

You say I have no idea what i'm talking, good on ya legend, I guess all the sports scientists are wrong about the negative impact alcohol has on the body.

you mean like what happens every single time you use a urinal?

It's pretty bad... but 'harmless' means that 'nobody has been harmed' which i'm sure you will agree with

like e25 said, the thing that worries me most is that he must have been absolutely slaughtered to make that 'decision'

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
