Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ben Guthrie rates his top 10 under 23 years of age. We have 3 players that feature in this (4) Hogan (6) Petracca (8) Lever. Surprisingly no Oliver, however, if you think about the list we have and the talent that is under the age of 23, it's going to be amazing just imagining what our team will be capable of when the main core are all 25-26 and used to playing with each other and the chemistry and bond they will all form.

With Hogan @#4, Petracca @ #6 and Lever @ #8 we are well represented.

I would leave out Curnow - he will be a star but hasn't done enough yet to be included with the rest of the top 10.  I would like to leave out Merrett because I don't like Ess but he is pretty good and deserves to be there.

But it is a fair top 10. Guthrie does say Oliver is hard done by to not be included and I reckon he is well ahead of the other 'hard done by' players (Andrew McGrath, Darcy Moore and Jack Billings).

So to have 4 of say the top 12 is sensational.  Can't wait till it all clicks for us!

No Oliver is just ridiculous.

He'll be borderline top ten in the league at the end of the year, let alone top 10 under 23.

Laughable to not include Oliver. Already won a best and fairest and is a top 5 in the league ball winner. He should comfortably be near the top of this list.

Oliver needs to round out his game with more kicking. He's a good kick and overhead mark. Can't be on his knees shooting out handballs for the next 10 years. I saw him move forward a number of times during the Geelong game, perhaps dragging opponent out of their comfort zone. More goals would also round out his game further

My list would be:

  1. Cripps
  2. Bontempelli
  3. Oliver
  4. Kelly
  5. Heeney
  6. Merrett
  7. Crouch
  8. Petracca
  9. Curnow
  10. Hogan

Curnow shouldn't be on the list.

He's judged on what he will be and not what he's done, which is minimal.  Prior to Thursday night he'd never kicked more than 2 goals in a game.  I know he plays more of a utility role often, but he's overhyped on his present output.

Oliver not being in that list is criminal.

18 clubs in the league, Carlton are represented twice (I, like most, am debating Curnow's inclusion) and us thrice.

While I understand @Fork 'em pessimism, I think this song definitely has a different tune.  Not sure if we'll be the headline act this season, but we're bloody close.

Ben Guthrie, What are you thinking! Oliver is a B&F , a ball magnate and unlucky not to be selected in the AA final team. Now the U23s top 10 ??? JOKE? Yeah.. Curnow  wait turn, you have not proved yourself. Maybe in the future.

Curnow had a heap of hype last year and coming into this season. He’s a very hyped player and I think the ranking isn’t on the 5 goals, it’s on his hype preceding it. I say this because I assume the article was written weeks ago and just edited before it was put up today. It’s the next stage in their ‘ranking’ series

Oliver suprising but wait another 12 months and it will be different. I think you’ll see Bont drop, Billings, Oliver and McGrath move into that list and Lever, Crouch and Curnow to drop out (no offence to Lever it’s just defenders don’t make lists)

Hogan is deserving and underrated by many of his own fans.

You can see what's happened here.  He knows Oliver should be in it, but he thought there's no way I can have 4 Melbourne players.  Oliver isn't universally popular, so he made way.

I love that Oliver is not popular, because he is a little ar*sehole. It is what makes him an even better player. It might cost him a well deserved Brownlow one day, but gees he's just a gem!

Hogan is probably forgotten because he had a terrible season last year for obvious reasons. Once McDonald is back in the team, I really think we will see the best of Hogan again. Allowing him to roam further up field is where he excels. That long goal around the body running onto the footy on the weekend, was exactly how Hogan needs to play, and will play, once we get another decent marking option down forward.

Zac Merritt and Curnow before Clayton Oliver, tell them there dreaming. We have 4 in the top 10 not just 3 please.

Zach Merrett is an absolute gun and deserves to be there.  Curnow, however, does not.

Oliver missing out is a joke.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
