Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Genuinely impressive debut!

Gysberts burst out of the blocks too.

Gysberts never liked hard work, no one will ever succeed with poor work ethic, tapscott biggest problem was he had no fear and kept on getting  crunched in the middle of Packs, which lead to him have a sore back, he just kept on getting hurt.

Brayshaw and/or Salem are due for a break out year considering their reputation as supremely talented footballers.

Brayshaw's been too injured and Salem's been a disappointment so far in his career.

Wouldn't say that Salem has been a disappointment, he has some hurdles but has shown what he is capable off.

I'm thinking it could be Dom Tyson...

Not fashionable with some, in particular 'joeboy' but coming up to the 100 game mark this season.

He had a good first year with us but has been a bit inconsistent following on from that.

This is a real make or break year for Dom, he either steps up or falls back in the pack.

Injury free...

I get the feeling that Tomas Bugg is pushing hard to make amends, and take his game and contribution to a new level. I thought he was going ok when he had the brain fade last year, so can play... another level of fitness and intensity as a defensive forward, line breaking runner to receive could have him flourish.

I hope it's Brayshaw. His kicks to Gartlett in space in his 1st year were wonderful to watch. 3 of them a game will give us 4-5 more wins a year.

ANB is a real chance too. Seems to get quietly better each game.

The beauty of Demonland rjay. I must admit I see Dom going the other way and struggling for a midfield place. Plus it is difficult to see him playing half back although perhaps he could play forward.

Either way you are right I think, it is make or break year for Dom.

Petracca will continue his natural progression and be dominant more often.

Salem for mine, as one who will surprise spectators in general with how damaging he is.

O-Mac will benefit greatly from Lever's presence in the backline, in terms of both leadership and support.

I would really like to see Bugg have a huge season this year. There'd be some great narrative in this if he does, for him personally and for the club.

Salem is probably the safest bet to take the next step though - his 'break out' season is long overdue. He has class in spades and he is sufficiently hard at it. He finally looks fit and strong enough.

Salem realising his potential will also go someway to easing the lingering anxiety over the Tyson/Salem trade for pick 2 (Josh Kelly). I know the club has said it wouldn't have used pick 2 on Kelly etc, but until Salem 'breaks out' the media will continue to think we stuffed up royally on this particular trade.

Great call. And I've always liked Dom, so I hope you're right, mate.

Good call too, mate. Gus has the ability to be just as dangerous as Salem IMO. In his first year, Gus only needed to get it 10 times, to create multiple scoring shots. His kicking penetration on either side is brilliant and his ball winning ability is another seriously untapped goldmine.

He broke out in 2014 but has since gone back in.

A lack of speed will mean we never see 2014 Tyson again.

Didn't he damage his knee in last years 'boot camp'? That might mean he has a good run at it this year will a full preseason....

i think the other thing to factor in is that viney has basically not had a pre-season at all, so we'll need an experienced mid to pick up the slack - tyson could well be the man

He's in the same boat as Trengove was for me.

Too slow.

I'm not sure pace is his problem, I see it as turning the ball over too often....If he tidied that up he would be an absolute gun.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
