Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The one match suspension when it should have been two or three with early plea also allows the opportunity for it to be downgraded to a fine.

If Geelong appeal Danger gets OFF! 100%

The AFL will be telling Geelong to appeal and the AFL will be telling the MRP to down grade the suspension to a fine.

It will happen...

No red faces on Brownlow night!

Rule change for Brownlow will be made for next season...

So the MRP failed to make their weekly outrageous decision.

Fortunately the AFL have the tribunal as a backstop. They have planned for all contingencies.

A QC will claim that Danger did not in fact tackle Kruezer, as a matter of fact it wasn't even a game of Aussie Rules, that the MCG does not exist, that Danger himself does not exist and even if he did this very situation is in the Magna Carta.

The tribunal will find this credible and convincing and Danger lines up next week.

Frankenstein again in the clear for high contact.  Their usual protection of Sydney players and of this individual in particular.

Wont they be making more if he stays with the 1 match penalty, as they wont have to pay out all those that put bets on throughout the year on him

I just want to remind everyone that this got 3 weeks.

EXACTLY....the commentators were clear . " thats a sling tackle when the arm is locked down and you've got no way of protecting yourself" We hated that at the time but if you're going to bring it in then bring it in...dont not apply it because its Dangerfield. If it was oliver it probaby would have been 3 again. FMD

Whilst I think this will happen Kruezer was coscussed. The same report as when we played Carlton. They can't fine (well they can I know) when the player was concussed.

Gotta talk to the AFL about the embarrassing look of a Brownlow medallist presenting a brownlow to the second place getter because he was rubbed out....

Been listening to KB*** on SEN this morning re the Dangerfield issue and it has been driving me nuts.

He and some of the morons calling in are not happy with the Dangerfield suspension and are now pushing for the tackler of all players who hit their head and get concussed to be rubbed out.

Also ranting about inconsistency for tackles where players are concussed, using Kents tackle on Sloane and Burgoynes tackle on Reid last year as glaring examples of double standards because Kent/Burgoyne were not suspended.

Spot the difference KB/SEN callers, you flogs...

Kent DID NOT pin Sloanes arms

Burgoyne DID NOT pin Reids arms

Dangerfield PINNED Kruezers arms

Once the tackler pins the arms of a player and takes away their ability to stop their head hitting the ground, all onus is on the tackler.  Seems pretty simple to me.

*** no need to say it.

Finally managed to watch a clip of the tackle after reading about it here (and listening to people speak about it on the radio).

For mine, @JTR above is correct. If you pin an arm, preventing a player from bracing themselves for their head to hit the ground, you take responsibility.

The replay clearly shows Dangerfield pinning an arm and driving Kreuzer head first into the ground.

It must be sanctioned with the loss of games.

The Brownlow discussion is irrelevant. If you take an action like this and are suspended, you are ineligible.

As for consistency, I think the commentators who are arguing that Buddy wasn't charged have it the wrong way around. The fact that Buddy's intentional high contact wasn't picked up on by the MRP indicates that they aren't serious about the head being sacrosanct any more. The lack of consistency here is that Buddy WASN'T charged, not that Dangerfield WAS.

Good

Do not pin a players arms and then drive the player to the ground. Concussion is a dangerous place

Simple. Train to tackle a different way

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
