Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Waa only a couple of grabs and a straight kick off having a good night.

Unfortunately he is a confidence player. If he clunks or jags them early, he is often on for the day.

He's a frustrating player at times and I sometimes fear that he will become a nearly-but -not -quite player for us. Hope not.

Playing terribly. Still popped up for his 6+ marks. Still haven't seen anything to show me he'll be a lesser player than Joe. Just an awful year luck wise. Absolutely awful. The off season will really help his mush I think. I know if it was me I wouldn't have even looked at a football again in 2017.

Play him up the ground. His kicking will always limit his effectiveness up forward

I agree with that also.  His kicking method, his inability or unwillingness to lead up to a pressured ball carrier to provide an option (ie; almost always playing too deep and from behind his opponent instead of offering multiple leads playing in front), and lack of 2nd/3rd efforts once the pill hits the ground is pretty average old school footy and isn't going to help us kick a winning score very often.

To take a 30+ meter run up to attempt a kick at goal from 10 meters out on a very slight angle is clear proof that he just isn't sure about his own kicking style at goal.  Makes the easy things look so difficult at times.  May need some time away from the forward line to work on the rest of his game.  His confidence in front of the sticks is shot unless he is directly in front and within about 15 meters tops.

Only his 2nd game back but he just doesn't seem to be capable of performing consistently enough and at a high enough level to justify a place up forward at the moment once Watts returns.  Not enough pressure inside 50 when we lose the ball either.

How is Weids doing after his 6 bag haul a few weeks back?  Still another pre season away at least I'm guessing.  But after this year, spent mostly at Casey, and another pre season I have a sneaking suspicion he may well overtake the Hulk next year provided he can put a little bulk on that shabby frame.

I'm not very worried about Jesse, the thing about last night was he was getting space getting to the right spot and dropping the mark or missing the shot so he's doing 95% of it and just not quite finishing.

Over the next few weeks i think a few more of those will begin to stick and his confidence will come back.

he takes the best backman every game he plays , sometimes 2

its about team balance , with Jessie in the side Watts and so get better and not as good hackman

he is not our problem , its all the players out at the moment

he will only get better as time goes on, and bloody hell he has had cancer it takes allot out of you.

you cant just have a needle or a tablet and be fine ( hopefully oneday)

give him time and let him do what he can for now

Jesse, at the moment, has more confidence and contributes a lot more when he plays up the field - CHF / wing / midfield - and Tom though he had an 'ordinary' night by his recent standards offers more deep forward.

And when JW4 gets back, pressure will be shared and Jesse's confidence will rise.

He has had an absolute [censored] of a year with so many deep issues, he needs and deserves al our support

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.  He has missed 10 weeks of footy and it's going to take a few weeks to click.

I think for the rest of the year Jesse should be played as a CHF, at least until his confidence and match fitness returns. He can be quite mobile for a big guy and getting him further up the group will keep him involved in the play.

Its going to take time for things to click for him, he's had a rough year by any measure. With any luck he will really hit his straps towards our last finals push.

Agree totally. Football will help him and he will help the side once he gets a few games under his belt and until then and beyond, he should get our full support.

Just curious if you were at the game?

I was and watched him closely off the ball. It's like your implying that I don't want him to play. I hope he comes out and kicks 6 goals next week. I was simply making an observation based on what I was watching.

If Melbourne hold on they will need a fit and in form Jesse for the finals (or even the last couple of games to make it ). The club is making the call that he will be both if he plays AFL and not VFL.

Often when a player is out of form, you read the coaches saying they just need to "work on the basics", and form will return.

"The basics" are pressure acts, tackling, shepherding, and small things like knock on's etc.

The thing that disappoints me about his return is not his lack of touch, but a continuation of his previous unwillingness to chase and tackle if he fails to take a mark. He is a bystander more often than not, in a full ground modern press that requires every player doing their bit.

His form 2 games back doesn't bother me.

His defensive effort does.

I thought Hogan was better in his second week back, got his hands to the footy a bit more and took 7 marks. It could have easily been 10+ marks, he got a bit unlucky with a couple grabs and dropped a sitter (although on the wing).

I think he's starting click and get back into form. I wouldn't be surprised to see a huge game from him soon once those big marks start sticking.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
