Compare with Tyson who (to me) still has upside. And of course Petracca, Hunt, Oliver clearly show enormous potential, unfulfilled to date (naturally).

Hand balling to a guy under severe pressure then causing a turnover rather than kickng it inside fifty and having a chance at a shot on goal seems to be our biggest problem.

Dawes isn't the answer, Pedo or Hullet are much better options, but once Weideman starts getting games and developing his body, Salem and Brayshaw come back in and another pre season into Oliver, we will win games like this.

Apologies if this has already been asked, but how far off is Weideman? Logic tells me that if the club is prepared to play Oscar McDonald to fast track his development, when clearly his form doesn't warrant selection, I can't help but wonder if they should be affording Weideman the same opportunity.

I think you make a fair point with your comparison of OMac and Weideman. Having said that, Hulett appears currently more suited to the rigours of AFL at the top level and I'd like to see him get first crack... starting with him replacing Dawes next week. There can be no reason why not, surely?

Agree. Somewhere else here I said it's because the game style/plan isn't instinctual yet, so hopefully that improving will also improve those disposal errors.

For the love of God Roosy just put us Melbourne supporters out of our misery and dropped Dawes and be done with him. Seriously even Lynden Dunn up forward would be a much better option if Pedo isn't ready.

And FFS Dave Mission is it too hard to just give us an update on Pedo once in a while you pleb.

Never watched a more frustrating game today. The amount of cheap goals Adelaide got just from basic direct turnover is what really annoys me right now.

Oscar has played what 9 games? He's had a taste now, time to go back and develop his craft at VFL level because right now hes becoming a laughing stock amongst opposition supporters. Borderline Zac Dawson like if we continue to throw him into the wolves.

Im enjoying seeing the continued development of Billy Stretch and Jayden Hunt. Both will be very important cogs for our midfield in years to come. Keep it up boys.

Harmes and Garlett both responded well from their VFL stints.

Still very frustrated and [censored] off atm..

The problem was that Adelaide pushed back really hard, and we didn't have anyone to kick to.

So many peanuts on the MCC wing were screaming 'just kick it', then when we did, it often went straight down the Adelaide players throat because they were 5 on 3, or 4 on 2. 

And Jesse Hogan wasn't working hard enough to get in front. Too often when that kick came, he was sitting too far back from the kicker, on his heels, not providing that target,

Agree re: Stretch and Hunt.  They have exceeded my expectations and, what they bring to the side, are skills and attributes that we need going forward.  Stretch, in particular, seems to find a way to weave out of traffic and give himself time, and then he takes the right option.  The dash from the back half that Hunt provides is a joy to watch, and he is able to do it defensively as well.  Two big positives this week.

Like you I BELIEVED we could win today, and was hoping to be able to sing the song with my 3yo daughter and then have the scarf flying high out of the window all the way home (it was the first game she's been to). Let's say it was a sad walk back to St Kilda road to collect the car (curse you closed MCG carpark?). She did learn that great grandpa was in the Second World War however as we watched the flame in the dark for a minute or so at the shrine, so that was a touching moment and one I will never forget. I know we did OK against a higher standard oposition, but with the way we back up (not very well) a solid game I can't see us winning in NT, and with the way St Kilda play, I can't see us fielding a side that can keep up with their outside run at shittyhead staduim.

So post game, I'm not at all confident. I am however confident that by next weekend I wil get that glimmer of hope that we get each week that we can win!

I think the Dee's wanted a bit more size on Weideman, not take the risk of throwing him to the wolves too early. Personally I wouldn't mind playing him in at least 3-4 of our last lot of games, just so he gets a feeling of the level he needs to be at after next pre season.

I'm quoting the damn stats because his ball use was far worse than usual and if it meant nothing I wouldn't have brought it up. It wasn't just disposals under the pressure that you apparently think he feels. He's not excused from criticism just because he's been our best player for over 4 years.

There are many positive aspects to take out of today if we are talking about the future.
Presently we are still making a few errors but our injury list is small,some more talent will break through and some of the older guys who can no longer cut it will obviously have to go.

One of the greatest finds this year is Hunt,who along with Oliver and Petracca is A grade.

The maturity of Watts,Jetta,Gawn and Jones and even Tmac has been superb.

Stretch,Wagner, Omac and Frost are growing  steadily .

Lamumba will be back,as will Trengove.

ANB,Hulett,Weid etc could be anything.

The challenge will be to get another  season or two  out of players playing above themselves like Pederson and Dunn can sometimes do.

I would like to see Dunn given a last shot in Dawes spot. He can take the odd grab and goal.

Apart from Hogan and Garlett who are auotselctions and maybe Salem .

Harmes looks capable to me but others disagree.I see him as a slow and gradual improver.

Kennedy and Bugg would be competing for the same position if we were a little bit stronger.

In the end it will come down to "one touch players" versus "fumblers".

The list is good. The future is bright.

We need more pace and marking power but we are getting there.

The crows delivery into forward 50 was far cleaner and more open than ours, which was clumsy and wasteful. 

Dawes was woeful. Just about as bad as I've seen from him. Pedo had an ugly dose of pneumonia and hasn't made it back to Casey yet. Not a great illness for a footy player to have. Explains the absence from Casey. So of course Roos would pick Dawes next week over Pedo.

Looks like only the Weed or Hulett coming in can spare us from Dawes' Flaws next week.

Clearly, the bit that cost us was the first five minutes of the third! We came out asleep and copped 4 goals in 5 minutes! I was hoping we would do that and ice the game. 

We over handball against the good sides because they put more pressure on us. This means that the first or second handball in the chain is slightly off and puts the receiver under pressure meaning they have to handball again, rather than have the time to pick out a kick. It's really not simply a case of the players choosing to handball instead of kick. It  will get better as the team gets better.

There's a lot to be excited about. As disappointing as the loss was, we had them on the run for large parts of that game. And, I know we've all been waiting a long time, but we are actually younger than we have been in either of Roos' first two years. I'm bloody excited about the future.

And I think Jayden Hunt might be my favourite player!

Nah usually after the game i take a deep breath but this is up there with the WB game where we could seriously smell a win but completely butchered our chances and they beat us with cheap turnover goals. 

I get even more annoyed when its our senior players Vince Tmac Dawes Bugg and Nath Jones who are the ones making simple basic skill errors costing us goals. And that happened too much today.

This is correct Males.

I asked Macca how far away Weids was at training a few weeks back. Said he is a bag of bones at the moment so a fair way off being ready for the big league but he will be a jet once he gets going.

Jayden Hunt might be the quickest player in the AFL.. his burst of speed over the first few metres is insane. And the bonus is he looks like a  player. That goal was awesome.
