Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?

Pretty much bang on mate. Always seems to be excuses being made for our PLAYERS. It's always someone else's fault. Seriously time to start playing like men not boys before it's too late for our club. Surely many of them are embarrassed when they watch back on the video of some of their 'contests'. Enough is enough.

They had a stat up on 360 saying we have lost 21 games since 2008 by 75 points I think.

That's basically a whole season.

What a joke.

Ah yes.. But neeld had a forward line.. Roos is waiting for his to get on the park

Well actually. Neeld recruited Dawes to allow for his plan to have twin towers on his forward line but Clark and Dawes have yet to play together in a game so you could argue he never had a forward line either.

And he sacrificed immediate reward to get Hogan.

Roos has been strangely non-committal to the Demons, looking ahead from the outset to a coaching handover in two or three years. It is hardly awe-inspiring.

Does he really want to be there? And how long will the players cop public flak like that before they too lose faith in their messiah?

very true.

very worrying.

we need committed folk.

I can't see the problem, according to "By the Numbers" on the MFC site, this was our best round 2 result in three years...

So we're on the up and up :)

lol... You do realise your talking about Paul Roos yeah?

He isn't considered one of the best coaches in the AFL, because he yells and screams at players.... Im very confident that even if he did give them a bake, It would have been a structured powerful home truth that the players needed to hear... When someone yells at people all the time, it becomes normal and ineffective... When a guy who is normally calm and considered raises their voice in disapproval, the message is usually load and clear...

I guess I was thinking that this is two games in. We will be touched up again, make no bones about it. If he pulls this out of the locker too early, it may not have an effect later. That being said, and here is the key part, Roosy has said he didn't spray the players on 360. I will take his word over Dermott's as he was actually there.

To be honest, everything that needed to be said was said in the presser. If he repeated that in that tone, I think it would have been enough. No need for theatrics.

Why do people keep thinking I believe the players should be 'loved' through this? No damn way! That was disgraceful but I just felt that stunts of years by such as MN's reverse peer assessment and 'not on your life' press conference caused more division than good because they were knee jerk and not thought out. I know Roosy would most likely have thought out any message he sent to the players.

What a joke.

And somehow we didn't qualify for a priority pick!

Melbournes bad run has come at a really awful time with the expansion clubs.

But still, there are a large amount of players that need to be cut.

You're onto something here. Each training session this week should be preceded by the whole team sitting down to watch the replay together. If it's hard for us to watch it must be tough for each team member to see every [censored] up by one of their team mates.

Roos, as great as he has been, has to prove that he can markedly improve this team. I believe he can but, in terms of results, he has not so far.

He already has, our disposal, contested posessions, tackles, and inside 50's have all improved out of sight, we finally have some sort of structure and plan we are building towards although the forwards being down doesn't help that

Roos was a hell of a lot more measured than Neeld. The tone was one of surprise and determination, rather than shock and anger. The fact both alluded to a change in personnel seems to be the basis of the article. Cheap shot for mine. They are nothing alike.

Caroline Wilson has her say. Though she gives advice rather than sneering criticism.

One of the better articles she's written about Melbourne.

New boss same as the old boss?

Hardly.

The team remains the same - and its issues. And maybe the puerile references to Neeld can now be moved on from?

Wilson makes a very good point - what is his vision for his own involvement with this club?

It is not a question he has to answer soon, or even this year, but when he decides who is to be his successor (whenever that may be) he has got to also announce in what capacity he is going help that successor once he takes over.

We are going through a transition period to say the least - we are not situated to do a 'Port Adelaide' - there are too many question marks on key players to be able to do what Port did.

Clark, Dawes, Gawn, Frawley, Dunn, and Jamar are in footballing limbo for various reasons.

And while we have some great young talent in Hogan, Viney, and Tyson - there are too many question marks on the list in addition to the 6 above*: Byrnes, McKenzie, Clisby, Blease, Cross, Strauss, Pedersen, Nicholson, Evans, Riley, Tapscott, Spencer, Bail, Jones, Terlich, Jetta, Georgiou and Fitzpatrick.

That is 24 players on the list that are either in limbo for 2014, near the end of their careers, or simply not good enough unless their form changes radically.

I don't believe Port Adelaide had that base before last year.

Roos should have been told that by Jackson coming in but, if not, he better know it now.

*Salem, JKH, Michie, Kent, Toumpas, Hunt, Harmes, King and Barry get a reprieve as they are starting their careers.

Roos did make a comment about spilled chest marks. The most obvious culprit was Watts in front of goal. At The Age again. A back page photo of Watts with his eyes closed as he spills it. No doubt bracing for the spoil around the ears in preference to swallowing the ball.

i doubt he was bracing for the spoil as he knew he was metres clear

just lazy (or as some would say "laconic")

"the failure of some players to even break into a chase."

Take particular notice of Frawley, Jones, Watts and Fitzpatrick: these guys did not chase. And apart from Jones, they give up on the chase very early. Frawley could have at least tried to get involved in several contests but simply gave up. Watch the replay. It's very, very obvious. Reminds me of his 186 performance.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
