  1. Post on the Kozzie thread saying Cameron fined in 2017 for striking and 2020 for rough conduct and striking in 2021. Tribunal said he had no prior suspensions. Didn't look at previous fines or incidents then. 3 previous incidents where he was found guilty and yet he is of such exceptional character, he is fined again, for medium impact which carries a suspension, when others would be suspended.

  2. Surely the AFL is playing a dangerous game of cynically relying on peoples loyalty to their Clubs for continued support while they insult the same people with their farcical management, zeal for woke agendas and contentment of allowing an uneven/unfair competition. The game is in disarray despite being told otherwise. Cameron, Butters,Pendlebury, score review farce, Goal umpires who appear to have no idea, COI crypto currency advertising, Concussion, the bump, standard of umpiring, Gather Round, Finlayson, pushing woke causes, and that’s just in the last couple of weeks. Similar rubbish has been going on back to the days of Demetriou. If it wasn’t for the MFC being a big part of my life for 6 decades, I wouldn’t have anything to do with the rotten AFL.

  3. The match review/tribunal system of "adjudication" has moved beyond ludicrous into some sort of ultimate fantasy realm. It's pointless being outraged or shocked anymore. Just look forward to to the next piece of wonderfully creative whimsy.

  4. Below are some of the better KPFs in the game today. Just players who were drafted in the last 6~ years, and the stat is goals kicked in their first four seasons (from debut). We all want, and need, JVR to be taking a leap this year - but patience is required. Season # 1 2 3 4 JVR 28 M. King 22 38 52 28 B. King 17 25 47 40 McDonald 9 15 32 Curnow 5 20 34 18 McKay 3 21 26 21 Daniher 3 28 34 43 Naughton 2 32 15 47 Larkey 0 26 14 42 Allen 0 20 18 28 Average 9 25 30 33 For reference, old mate Weideman kicked 3, 3, 10, 11....

  5. 2023: 39 goals for the season, averaging 1.5 marks inside 50, both behind only King at the Suns (and ahead of any Demon) Took more contested marks than any of our forwards did, whether you split it by average or total. Led the suns for goal assists and was behind only Noah Anderson for inside 50s. I suspect he is in fact a key forward. Possibly even a textbook modern CHF. When the coach permits it!

  6. The tribunal continues to be a joke If Lever gets brain issues later in life at least he know Cameron is a good bloke and played 200 games staggering incompetence

  7. No wonder there are those who see the AFL as a totally corrupt body, like the IOC, FIFA etc. They seem to be able to find special circumstances to suit their agenda at will As others have said, I love footy and the MFC but I have nothing but contempt for the administrative body known as the AFL. I used to watch maybe 4 or 5 games a weekend but really now only watch MFC, with occasional looks at Kayo minis of other games

  9. Not matching the pick 5 bid on Mac Andrew allowed us to bring in JVR and Blake Howes; a solid win so far. K White is 100% nominating the Dees.

  10. I didn't think the Tribunal could surprise me anymore. I was wrong. In a long and sad history of them, this may well be the most manifestly unfair and illogical decision the Tribunal has ever made. Put to one side the fact that Cameron has had a number of previous fines - remembering that the AFL says a fine is a genuine punishment, because an intentional strike to someone's gut is "punished" with a fine. Even if he genuinely had never been suspended before, that should be almost entirely irrelevant, and particularly when discussing head high contact from an action such as a sling/dump tackle where the AFL has had significant focus of late. We are now going to see repeated Tribunal headings convened by players who haven't been previously suspended, who say "well if Charlie only got a fine, what about me?". It's a circular argument and one which no one out there, except presumably Brisbane supporters, should stomach. (PS: this has nothing at all to do with the fact that the victim of the tackle was a Melbourne player. That's irrelevant too, and I do not at all buy into the conspiracy theories. This isn't a conspiracy, it's incompetence).

  11. I have for some time, advocated that when developing players are not performing in the VFL then it might be of benefit that they go to an appropriate local suburban competition to work on their skills. I recently cited the case of a Collingwood Category B rookie playing last year or the year before in the VAFA. Now, it seems that Richmond has the same idea with one of its Category B rookies. The player in question is obviously being given time to adapt to the game in a less demanding competition. Unless, there is something happening with KFW that we’re not being told, this would seem a better course than seeing him struggle for kicks on limited time in the VFL. From Herald Sun online

  12. I’ve always been of the belief that Jack Watts would be the icing on the cake for our current side - regardless of what you think of him as a player. Lukosius is of the same ilk and I would be over the moon if he came to us. We are still light on for elite kicking skills, particularly from a tall. He kicked more goals than any of our guys last year, is a couple of centimetres taller than JVR and is 23.

  13. Just when we thought the rules had been written in such a way to allow wriggle room for the grading of impact (ie potential to cause serious injury is now relevant to the “impact”) so that the “stars” can be protected, along comes a new contender “the Chairman’s Discretion” as the ultimate power to save the stars when not even the ambiguous rules can. Oh boy, could they be any more transparently biased to the “stars”* if the game. Note those that qualify as a “star” are determined in the AFL’s discretion lol. An indictment on the fairness of the game.

  15. No AFL footballer is soft Lukosius isn't a pack crunching key forward like JVR. But he's a good mark, one on one included, an exceptional kick and decision maker and would definitely be a big part of our forward set up over the next 8-10 years. He's also versatile, plays back if needed. I can even see him getting time in the middle, such is his high footy IQ The whole 'Jack Watts 2.0' label shows that some fans like cheap shot labels because it's easier than thinking in any depth It's a big YES from me, assuming the price isn't too high. In JT we trust

  18. This is incredibly true, and I think the AFL is relying heavily on the older generation of supporters. But for younger fans, I think the lack of transparency and clear corruption is going to wear thin. We are also in an era where media saturation is at an all time high, and we all have an ability to voice our opinion on every decision made by the AFL. That means the AFL can't simply sweep things under the carpet and hope the fans will forget. A lot of younger people will be turned off the game if they don't see any integrity at the top level, especially if they support a club that is not consistently rewarded with "the rule don't apply here" magic. It is beyond disgraceful that we could not even bring in an expert witness last week to defend Kosi, but Cameron can bring in two character witnesses.

  19. I think it's good that the club shows loyalty to a player. We have been complaining about the Jacksons and Pettys, so let's reward those who want to stick around.

  20. Nonna Petracca better be available to give a character reference should Trac ever find himself at the tribunal... "he's a lovely boy and he makes an excellent lasagne, just how I taught him". A farce.

  21. Come on OD you have been largely positive recently but this comment shows no common sense. Rooyie is still developing and within games and seasons he as a developing player may frustrate. Yes his marking hadn’t been great getting hands to ball but his very athleticism plus competitiveness and IMO our clearly second best ruck relief for Maxy plays a significant role in our team. If he chose to not sign this deal and do a Jacko our credibility would be an all time LOW at keeping young interstate stars. He is only 21 and plays with greater maturity than many others for his age. 30 games in 90% of Demons fans can see a fantastic career ahead and in one of the hardest key positions in the game biz. FF FP or CHF. And if he doesn’t play in any of these roles in our next Flag I’ll bet he will at CHB or FB in any case. Look at our recent recruiting and all our mediums have usually beaten our young key talls to regular games. Plenty still knocked Trac ( and wanted to clear him after season2019) before his breakout season in 2020 and 100 games on he wins games for us as a true superstar of the game and brings huge credit off the field as well to our Club. Think of Tom Hawkins who took 2/3 seasons to develop and the other talls on our list that are recruited for a KP spot forward or back or ruck. Jed Adams, Mark Jefferson, Will Verrall Max Gawn none were or are instant consistent successes. Tom Hawkins also resonates the same. Players like the above show glimpses of class and style that gives them the best chances of succeeding in this crazy game of AFL. You can’t see Rooy’s performances developing at this stage because you are frustrated with the glimpses of his amazing potential to be a David Schwarz or Neiter or Stephie May and he is not there fast enough. Patience is one virtue many.D/Lers don’t have and thank goodness we don’t pick or manage our players. Leave it to the experts and let’s revel they are monitoring our future stars with appropriate regard to their and our future. Just as our 2021 Glad came outbid the blue the same thing happens when a young player with potential also does succeed. Just ask Judd McVee and Caleb Windsor. Hang in there the ride gets better every 30 games believe.

  22. You have conveniently forgotten the wonderful games Christian has played and been significant in the success of our team. Our 2021 Premiership was set up by Salo’s magnificent first quarter and indeed his whole game. That’s what makes a star on the biggest stage and shows too many people focus on the negatives of players rather than the positives. In very rare circumstances the player sometimes requests a trade and the Club may benefit however to openly move a highly skilled and valued match winner plus great Clubman does not send a great message to other players wanting to join your Club. Christian is often tied up with helping nurture and develop one of our up and coming stars on the side in his own time with no recognition generally until that player makes our team or wins a Rising Star nomination. Lets saviour the great and good games Salo gives us as much as his high quality Club sprit and contributions he makes overall instead of narrowing in on his unfortunate injuries and style of play in setting up team plays where many in the game waste their talent with erratic disposal.

  24. I will again come to the defence of Luke Molan. He never had an opportunity to show his wares due to a succession of unrelated serious impact injuries. How many consecutive games did he get at Sandringham who as I recall was our VFL affiliate at the time? Nobody knows, seriously, if he could have been an even half decent player.

  26. AFL Match Review Panel Round 7, Koby Stevens suspension, Jarrad Waite suspension, Lance Franklin Nick Robertson (foxsports.com.au) Match Review: Star Lion Cameron fined for engaging in rough conduct (afl.com.au) Cameron got a fine for striking in 2017 and a fine for rough conduct in 2020. So much for the clean record excuse.

  27. Christian and Gleeson (who was the AFL advocate at the Tribunal prior to being made its chair) have a vested interest in seeing Collingwood's competitors for the premiership be weakened and imv their bias has been shown at various times. Port missing SPP for some key games. We missed Kozzie for a key game. So how did Cameron get off a with a key game vs Cats this week ... maybe the AFL is concerned about some optics that @Ethan Tremblay didn't suggest in the post below. Blind freddy can see the potential for conflict of interest of the MRO and Chairman and the AFL should fix it - at least rotate the Chairman to someone who has no interest in the accused's team nor who they play in the following weeks. Ditto the Tribunal panel. Of course it won't!!

  31. Agree RPFC. I believe JVR’s potential as a MFC player is being enhanced by his 2nd ruck situation and enables him to get into the game and learn about AFL footy not just a KP which he will undoubtedly succeed in being for us.

  32. Now we are doing character references on tackles? This is a joke. It’s a split second movement when it suits them - but now also one of the contributing factors in that split second is that 3 years ago the tackler facilitated a youth workshop. Well, that should be easy to manipulate at their discretion in the future - which is exactly what they want. The social contract of equity and justice between the AFL and its audience is starting to tear. They’ve become obsessed with public rhetoric, that they then have to find increasingly inane ways to work around to support their broader goals (making money). It’s becoming so transparent that it’s damaging the relationship I have with the sport.

  33. It was as sure as the sun rises tomorrow that Cameron was going to wriggle out of this. Not hard to read the AFL at all now. They want their preferred teams at full strength and hence those team's stars playing wherever possible. The charge was only ever put through as a 'be a little more careful next time' warning shot. Nothing has changed at HQ. Nothing unusual at all really. Butters off another sad example of hope hopelessly corrupt the entire place is. The circus continues to roll along and god help anyone who stands in its way.

  34. As an All Australian under 18 in his draft year, you can understand why the club drafted him at pick 15. As an All Aust under age pick, the kid has talent. History will tell you KP youngsters take time to develop their body. Jeffo was drafted 18 months ago. 20 year old kids rarely play senior AFL footy at his age. He has shown very good cameo performances at Casey. His goal tally for his first year as a KPF was very good. He is young and playing agianst more physically developed men. Consistency at this point at time is an unrealistic expectation. As an under age player his kicking accuracy was one of his biggest strengths, along with his marking. But, his 6 mark, 2 goal 4 performance 2 weeks ago, is now seen as he is a poor kick for goal. Too many focus on the negatives and form opinions too quick. Many have also attacked him for being too skinny with a (perceived) hunch back. It takes all body types, just saying. It’s posts and the anxiety such as yours Cranky that rile me with focussing on the negative. I would suggest the people on here backing Jeffo, including me, have the same anxiety as you. I just choose to sit back and wait to see how it unfolds and not behave in a way that is negative.

  37. He's in a down patch lately. But let's remember he's only been playing for twelve months. But he's certainly shown enough at a young age that he's definitely a keeper. Well done to all. Agree with Bluey that he's probably a chf than a deep fwd. And while having a great leap and doing ok in the ruck, I don't think he's ideal as a second. His competitiveness and energy is top shelf and I expect him to have a long a fruitful career in footy. Still needs to learn a few things but he has all the hallmarks of being a very good footballer. Due to start clucking them all soon and then a nice bag of sausage rolls.

  38. Lack of height plays against him, not a ruckman or a key forward. I would like to see him up the ground, half forward type.

  40. Looks like it is self-perpetuating. If they let you off in the past, then that is an argument for letting you off in future. It's blindingly obvious that the MRO is corrupt. But what can you expect when we have an entertainment corporate business rather than a sporting body.

  46. The 2023 version of Lukosius would be a potent structural addition. Takes marks - including inside 50 and contested when the coach permits it. Can kick goals (39.22 in 2023) and set up goals (15 goal assists for 2023 and 6 score involvements per game) Gains metres and can do it in ways that disorient opposition defence thanks to his ability to roost it with accuracy over 40-50m as well as launch credible shots from outside 50. After having an excellent season in 2023 he appears to be pushed out of his best role due to pecking order and only being adequate so far this year. Getting him now and using his attributes as a mobile, connecting CHF would be like trading for Bailey Fritsch at the end of 2020, right before he was allowed to settle as a forward.
