  1. I would have loved for him to play just one game for MFC. His raw emotion when we won the G.F last year was a lovely thing to behold. Good luck Warrior, you have done yourself proud with your achievements, I hope the next chapters of your life are fantastic. Cheers P.F

  5. It's true, he met with a group from Freo on Saturday at Black Rock (not Mordialloc ) and told them he's decided to stay. The whole group were so distraught they then went and lost to Carlton. True story.

  7. Looking at the disposal stats for Weids game on Thursday would be completely unfair to him. He competed hard, and in ruck contests I felt he was at absolute worst 50/50 with his direct opponent. He used his body, did teams things, to me it looked like a much improved version of Weid and certainly something to build on.

  9. After watching that Goal Celebration on Thursday Night, it is very hard to see LJ leave this year. He is winning footy with a bunch of mates, that all work together. That would be a huge bond to break, regardless of monster offers across the border. The MFC will also offer a very nice package We are in a window of Possible Greatness, LJ is a big part of that, Max isn’t getting any younger. If he does leave at years end, i will be sad and a little shocked Mates stick together

  12. All the best for the future Majak. You led the way for young Sudanese in the sport. Well played!

  13. Please see my comment above. I was responding to the poster complaining that Majak didn’t do this earlier so we could pick someone up on the mid season draft. I have nothing but respect for Majak and what he’s overcome.

  14. All the best Majak. Certainly a real pioneer for Sudanese kids starting out in the AFL. All the best in your future and beyond.

  17. Thanks for those pertinent stats Dazzle. I was at the game and thought BBB played an excellent first quarter. Particularly as Brisbane was pressing hard at the time. In fact, I thought he was in for a big one but, as you say, he faded. Not all posters understand that stats must be read and considered within a context.

  18. I will keep watching the games and you read the stats sheets We could well have been a lot further behind without Brown’s work in the 1st Quarter. But you believe whatever you want

  24. Was hoping he would get a look in with Max out. Showed some real promise and played some very good games while at North. Great that the club gave him this chance and hope he isn't completely lost to the club & game.

  25. I think it was still a good indication that he had 2 early shots on goal in the first quarter. The 4 marks in the first quarter alone and 7 disposal still a great starting point which is why I think he was certainly busy in that quarter alone. Finished with 1.3 for the night which to me looks like he's slowly getting back into the groove of hopefully hitting the scoreboard better in the next few week. 2 weeks in a row now he's had 4 shots on goal in each. His form is reminding me of last year when he came back into the side. Just slowly starting to get back into the swing of things.

  27. Fwiw, i watched the replay with a focus on our talls. They all did well at crashing packs, halving contests knocking the ball to advantage. Weid put his body into contests like we haven’t seen before, he competed cleverly in most ruck contests. BBB looked better and worked harder too. jacko is doing fine at plumping his value. I suggest wer go unchanged until MAx is right, the smaller forward setup with different use of the talls seemed to work well for us.

  29. If I was looking to meet with LJ and try and entice him, then it sure wouldn’t be in a public forum like a Mordialloc cafe!

  30. He’s a top 3 handballer in the team too. Can use both hands and understands how to handball on the up. If he can break even in the ruck, crash packs and fire off a few lovely handballs he doesn’t have to hit the scoreboard.

  31. I would call the three of you out for your inherent sexism here but I'm sure you'll just respond by telling me you're not sexist and you just don't like Caro. Of course, I'd rate the chances of you using these words to describe a male journalist at 0.5%.

  34. Scott went on and on about what a good guy Stewart is and not once did he say "we all hope Prestia is ok". Shows you exactly what kind of club Geelong is. Putrid. You want to see remorse? Have a look at Chandler's reaction to his tackle. He was almost in tears and he reached out to the opponent to check he was ok. That is true remorse for a far less intentional act!

  35. Gleeson makes a case that Stewart should have been referred directly to the Tribunal and no grading scale (careless, severe, high) applied thereby leaving it open to the Tribunal to consider the circumstances stewart-s-strife But the MRO/Football Manager rating leaves it open to the Cats to argue that it wasn't 'severe' based on other cases. Can't see the AFL now arguing it should have been rated 'deliberate.' Showing my cynicism but could it be that the Footy Manager was looking after his twin bro by rating it at all. On a related note, while Stewart was apparently upset at 'letting the team down' and supposedly a real good fellow I haven't seen an apology to Prestia or a reference to Stewart checking he was/is ok.

  36. Bedford must stay in in my view. He's effectively the forward version of the Bowey inclusion in late 2021.

  39. A good example of remorse is when Aaron vdb accidently collided with Mihocek. He texted him to check he was ok. Then sent a personal apology note and a bottle of wine to Mihocek's partner. Stewart's and his club's reaction has been selfish and totally self-serving. Even the 'mea culpa' and 'I'll pay the price' comments were self-serving: I made a mistake. But where is the apology! Prestia's family must have been beside themselves. Seeing him contorted on the ground was a sickening sight. That no-one from the club has come out and shown care for Prestia is disgraceful.

  40. While yes the cats are reliant on quite a few ageing players, I think they’ve brought some good young players in this season that are showing some serious zip. I personally think at their best this season they look more dangerous.

  41. I actually thought his ruck craft was the best I’ve ever seen, he genuinely looked like he was doing better than breaking even. Now that obviously also looks better when you have a psychopathic Viney smashing through and winning clearances but I thought he battled hard all game and as you said did team first acts. I really hope we don’t rush Gawn in; firstly this is a great opportunity for Weid to gain some confidence with a body of work. I also think this is a fantastic time for us to trial some plan B scenarios should the big fella be unavailable at the pointy end. And finally, the poor guy has been carrying such a heavy load of responsibility particularly during our slump, he needs time. I was disappointed Weid didn’t get the goals from his chances, but if he works hard and persists with what he did on Thursday the opportunities will come.

  42. Glad to get the win. I enjoyed it. Jack Viney probably played the best game he has ever played for the Melbourne Football Club. Absolutely inspirational!

  43. Weird did much more than those stats suggest - good physical presence in the ruck, several clean taps to advantage. Showed improvement without getting among the goals. Played his role.

  44. What I want to see continue is Bedford building a body of work in the role he played Thursday night. He absolutely deserves to retain his spot and could be an important component of the team in this years flag tilt. The other thing is to play Weideman in kahoots with Dogga whilst Maxy' recuperating. Who knows but this could be the circuit breaker role that elevates Weed to the contributor that we've been crying out for. I thought he was far from disgraced as the second ruck against the Lions.

  45. Scott - We had the flu and covid and a tummy bug but we're not making excuses because we've been loading and Tom Stewart was missing and Selwood was scared of Viney and May is a bully and Max is too tall and I won't mention Oliver and Petracca are too good. The quarters are too long which isn't fair and we only got double the frees! I mean what are the AFL thinking, we are Geelong where is our new training facility and home ground advantage? It's a conspiracy! But no excuses from me.

  46. Kysaiah Pickett could show no further improvement for his entire career and still never be out of the best 22 of a premiership-contending side. Also, he's still just 21, and definitely showing signs of continuous improvement.

  47. He remains close with Trent, his parents are happy with his welfare at the club, he wants to repay the draft faith and the decision to give him an extended break in Perth pre-season, the offer is as flexible as he needs it to be, he wants to continue learning from Max and he generally isn't motivated by money or stardom.

  49. You'd reckon that Port Adelaide might be a bit nervous about the colours on their jumper. Apparently Mr. Frydenberg isn't particularly keen on teal at this point in time.
