Only 2 AA's...Lions & Crows 4, Tigers & Cats 3. As I say, we're very much underrated. Hope we can prove it on Sunday.8 points

Not sure what it says when the AFLW B&F winner, Ally Anderson, is not named in the All Australian squad and finished 11th in the coaches award. Olivia Purcell finished 5th in the B&F, squeezes on to the bench in the AA squad and finished 15th in the coaches award. Meanwhile Jasmine Garner wins the coaches award easily, is captain of the AA squad and doesn't finish top ten in the B&F. Most likely the AFLW umpires are completely clueless as to who the better players are, so are just picking the few players they recognise. Well done to Liv Purcell and Kate Hore on their great seasons. Not sure why they were kept away from the main celebrations when they still participated in the AA team photo.7 points

How are the umps supposed to allocate the correct votes without a comprehensive betting market in place?6 points
-
Well I'm certainly confused. As I understand it we have pick 13 ( which is really 14 .... or is it 15) ...... but according to another thread pick 19 is better! However, we are also going for pick 5 ( or 6) both of which seem unattainable ...... is that correct? Of course we've also got pick 37 but apparently all the decent players will be gone by then.6 points

Bulldogs poised to sign Baker The Western Bulldogs are poised to sign speedy Melbourne wingman Oskar Baker via the pre-season supplemental selection period. The 24-year-old played 15 games with Melbourne after making his debut in 2019 but could not get a look-in at the Demons, with Ed Langdon, James Jordon and Angus Brayshaw all playing on the wing.5 points

Well, i had forgotten both as instructed. But now i won't be able to forget them.5 points

It's not a big a change as it sounds. There are already 4 field umpires at each match. It's just that the one who was designated as the emergency umpire now joins the fray. If an umpire gets injured during the game and can't continue, the remaining three will continue to do the job. To me it makes sense. Firstly, because the emergency umpire has been an under-utilised resort. Secondly, it allows the ground to be divided into four quadrants which is a much better design than thirds, whichever way you cut it. As a result, there should be fewer instances of umpires being blind-sided and missing things like throws and high tackles.5 points

Will add to confusion, the closest umpire being overruled incorrectly and thin the talent pool of umpires further OR Keep it 3, make them professional, create a career path, increase quality of umpiring5 points

Surely if the three maggots can’t get it right, and occasionally contradict one another, enlarging the cesspit won’t produce better maggots, only more of lower quality. Rather like endlessly expanding the number of teams, can only dilute the quality, the same applies for umpires. Eventually everyone can play and get a participation award for trying.5 points

4 umpires 5 on the bench... If they keep going soon there won't be any room for fans at the games.5 points

A year is a long time in footy. I know next year's draft sounds like cream but you can go backwards while others go forward dramatically in the space of 12 months. If they have identified talent they think that can help us in THIS draft, why wait? Get them in sooner. I don't love the idea completely but JT and co won the flag, not me. I'm backing them in.5 points

How did Liv Purcell finish the B&F with 16 votes, be name All Australian, but be omitted from the 22 Under 22??? Beggars belief.5 points

JT has: - made a bold move for Oliver - offered what would’ve been the Jacko pick for Zak Butters - drafted Jacko - made a really bold move for Pickett - made solid moves for Bowey and JVR at the back of the first rounds The case against is Weid and to a lesser extent Laurie. Although they were both the second players picked and didn’t seem specific targets like Pickett was. Strength of the drafts doesn’t matter because there’s no guarantee a team does a deal for a top prospect next year. It might be picks 8 and 12 but no one will give us 5 next year. If you’ve found someone you think is a special prospect and is gettable you don’t care that next year has equally special prospects.5 points

Reckon it’s Sheezal, but would need one of Norths picks. We have been keen on Ginbey but not sure that was as a top 5, think that’s when we thought West Coast may have taken Hewett and Busslinger4 points

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, I can't agree. It will be utterly devastating when he leaves. The most raw talented player we've had at the club since Jurrah - and he has the work ethic, defense first, team ethos, star power, looks and aggression to boot. Not to mention an extremely rare combination of endurance and speed. Higher output than any small forward in the game and still underrated outside Melbourne fans. Despite all that, you'd be looking at Rankine's trade as the absolute ceiling of what we could get - but we won't. Personally I wouldn't trade him for 2 firsts. Anyway back on topic - believe the player will be Ginbey. Oliver mk2.4 points

If 3 umpires cannot get it right then adding another one will cause even more confusion, now it means players will have to be more vigilant not to run into an umpire by accident.3 points

Third place and the associated Third Round Draft Pick has been snaffled by @La Dee-vina Comedia, thereby just pipping @Mazer Rackham who will have to settle for a Rookie Draft Selection. As hinted at in various ways, the players in my team all share a surname with currently listed AFLW players. I believe that @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew has another teaser up his sleeve and hereby pass the baton his way. That AFLW team if anybody is interested is as follows. Some surnames are shared by multiple women, of course. Oddly, there is both a Tarni Brown and a Tarni White! B: Aimee Whelan Erica Fowler Hannah Bowey H/B: Bailey Hunt Hannah Dunn Tarni Brown C: Stevie-Lee Thompson Charlotte Wilson Amber Ward H/F: Brianna Davey Hayley Miller Abbi Moloney F: Amy McDonald Isabel Dawes Janelle Cuthbertson R: Tarni White Eloise Jones Isabella Lewis I/C: Orla O'Dwyer Ellie McKenzie Bella Smith Brooke Walker SUB: Gabby Newton COACH: Sarah Goodwin3 points

There is no way any recruit is worth 3 first round picks without playing senior games in the AFL, you don't burn your picks on a player who may turn out to be Jimmy Toumpas.3 points

I say we drain the Yarra and put our training ground there. Fat lot of good it does the way it is at the moment. The majority of residents with property looking onto the Yarra in South Yarra and Toorak are probably Dees supporters anyway, so there’d be little if any fuss.3 points

This kid can really clunk a mark. Haven't seen what his set shooting is like but field kicking looks pretty darn good for a big guy. If we developed his forward craft he could be a very nice asset.2 points

Probably the Demons have a very even spread of talent, whereas some sides have a very dominant player or two e.g. Conti, Kearney. Champion teams and all that.2 points

Could we also be trying to move back next year with lots of points to do the f/s dance (mini-Dogga)? If we go forward this year, and back with points next year, we could ‘win’ in both scenarios?2 points

Seems like a bridge slightly too far, would need to be at least top 3. Plenty of twists and turns to go though.2 points

Surely it's Tsatas we're chasing. A gun wing to compliment our mid group. The obvious piece of the puzzle we're missing. Given there's no key forwards ~pick 5...2 points

Maybe they know Kozzy is leaving and they’ll regain one/two first rounders for next years draft? Food for thought…2 points

There's quite a lot here lacking any kind of transparency. Usually, the AFL are very clear about ticket allocations for a granny and how many tickets are allocated to each club, sponsors etc etc. Haven't really seen any details around this. Have the lions been given 7500 tickets perhaps? With a couple of hundred thrown to MFC? Have we been offered a chance to train on the ground or not? I hope Springfield Bunnings have got some goal posts in stock.2 points

I never understand the theory that one draft year is worth holding out for. Is the difference really going to mean that a pick 5 this year would only be a pick 20 next year? I seriously doubt it. The most rewarding thing for a young player with talent is being in a highly professional system for a year. Get ‘em in. Show ‘em how it’s done. See what they can do. A bird in the hand and all that.2 points

Like it mate. Definitely feels like any kind of community 'angle' we can put forward the better, and will definitely help with the amount of funding or getting certain plans approved, but I honestly think our biggest obstacle is just the land itself. Me personally, I'd much rather have us build something amazing further out - maybe out in an area like Kew, Camberwell, out to Burwood, Ashwood etc - than squeeze some half baked facilities into a little corner off Gosch's.2 points
