We used to have a player called Luke, Who's natural talent isn't a fluke, He helped us out to finally break the drought, But to see him in purple makes me puke11 points

There once was a boy named Jackson, That by 2022 went missing in action, He headed back West because that’s what mummy thought best, And from that I still can’t get no satisfaction9 points

I'd be disappointed if we traded 13 and 37 for 20 and 26. We lost Jackson for 13 and a future first rounder and had to fight hard to get those two first round picks. To then get rid of one in 13 would further dilute the compensation we got and the possibility of replacing him with elite talent is reduced even further. We should take 13 to draft and grab the best talent available. Whether that's Jefferson, Hewitt, Hollands, Allan etc I don't care, but that top tier talent will be there at 13 and won't be at 20+. We need elite talent now while we're in our window.8 points

There once was a ruckman called Dogga With a chopper the size of a logger He could handle the axe But was no good without Max And his next club will be Wagga Wagga8 points

There once was a boy named Luke who looked dopey without a tooth He won us a flag but his mum was a nag So he went home to the purple puke8 points

We once had a mate called dogga Who turned out to be a list clogger We wished him the best Shipped him off west And hoped his replacement wasn't such a flogger7 points

If we did that we would probably not get Jefferson, George or Allan, if that’s who we are looking at. IMO if we trade up, it will be by using 37 and a future pick. I can’t see us trading 13, as that would get us the players named, except maybe Allan.5 points

That one incident got so over exacerbated it's not funny. I think it was more just a case of lack of awareness of the player bearing down on him than him actually torching Trac. Fritta was in an easy goal scoring opportunity himself and 99 time out 100 he kicks that goal. In another scenario that plays out he hand passes to Trac who fumbles and then we'd have the same comentators accusing us of lairising and claiming Fritta should have taken the shot. It was at a point of the season where we were just going off the boil and alot of comentators were loving the oppertunity to have a chip at the side for whatever reason.5 points

There once was a man named Luke Whose departure made us all want to puke The rumours were a distraction He was missing in action If only he was more like Touk.4 points

There was a young man from Fremantle Left the Dees for reasons financial No worries I reckon We found a new weapon Grundy’s impact will be much more substantial3 points

The umpires non call when it was clearly holding the ball allowed Brisbane to kick inside 50 and receive a 50:50 free and convert. That’s the quarter time difference, a free kick. Hopefully over the course of the game it evens out.3 points

What if we don't think any of the talent available at that pick are elite, and that players 11-30 are very even? If that's how our recruiting team sees it they should trade down.3 points

Oh my God well have to wait an extra day for draft night to arrive if we don't have a 1st rounder!3 points

The criticism of Fritta reached fever pitch in the media and I think a few of those experts needed to pull their head in, it was relentless and childish some of the comments being made. However the internal criticism at the time was not totally unfair. That patch through the middle of the season he wasn't seeing anyone in that forward 50. Yes his job is to kick goals, be goal hungry and confident, sometimes at the expense of a slightly better option, but not when a teammate is in literal acres of space in a better position. There's been comments in here that his teammates need to do the team things and shepherd for him etc. Well they were doing the team things by leading into space and creating options. It is still a team sport at the end of the day and our team won a flag playing team first football, if Fritta is given the license to shoot at every opportunity would you as a teammate keep running to space to make options if you knew the ball was never coming your way? Fritta needs to play on instinct and in a 50-50 situation just shoot for goal but if there is a wide open option available he's gotta take it.3 points

I can’t see any way we will go for a ruckman with pick 13, given our current situation, with just adding Grundy, Schache and a Rookie. We also have Tom Mac back and a father son in a couple of years to develop. We can always add an experienced Rookie if needed in the next couple of years.3 points

But Casey is elite in standard on field and inside facilities and raised our level along with the Coaches to best ever training standards in 2021. Don't underestimate Casey's role as it is MCG in size as well in our Flag.3 points

Port Melb FC ground is ripe for development along with all the current redevelopment of Fisherman’s bend, an expected extra 20k in population growth, not to mention Port Vfl team has the same theme song and colours & long successful history founded in 1874 & 17 flags3 points

One thing that has impressed me about Gillard @FarNorthernD and @WalkingCivilWar has been her willingness to move up and back to make sure she is in position, whether that's tracking her poster, guarding spsce, covering a loose player etc. I felt she's held up the anchor in defence role quite well. Her marking hasnt quite been as good as expected for her height, but I think that will come with strength and experience, and she's better than expected beneath her knees for one of the tallest out there. A Really great prospect!3 points

I don’t like the implied criticism of Fritta. I thought it was unfair right through the season. He is there to kick goals, not to give them away. In fact, I think the murmur of criticism of him for being selfish got to him and he ended up giving away some critical opportunities to try and be unselfish which cost us a game or two. Sooner or later, someone has to take the shot – so often, with other players we would see the ball being handpassed around and around looking for the perfect opportunity; Fritta is there to take the opportunity and kick the goal.3 points

I’d like to see us get some run with our pick, or another mid who impacts the scoreboard. I like Holland, Allan, Hewett for this reason. I think the 2 first rounders next year is where we target the key forward2 points

Very fair summary but still believe Fritta is totally underrated by many other Clubs fans. He is an A grader IMO and his footy skills are amazing. Look forward to 2023 and him hopefully playing up firward with JVR Tmac BBB Jefferson Kossie and the rest of the gang including Harry Petty!2 points

Nothing wrong with Jefferson. I wouldn't mind taking him, though he would be about 3 years away from getting a game. He's put on some weight this year apparently so he'll need to put on another 10 - 15kgs if he wants to play with the big boys. But if we held our current picks we could take Jefferson at 13, but would miss out on the 4 really good players I had mentioned to you earlier in (George, Barnett, Cowan and Gruzewski). Pick 37 we might go for a half back like Luke Teal or Jakob Ryan as Hunt was traded and Hibbo will be in his last year so we need to stock up with a selection there. Adam D'aloia would be a really good pick up also if we wanted a mid. He is ready to go at 186cm's and 86kgs.2 points

I've felt it's a bit unfair to label Trac a garbage kick for goal, his technique isn't the best but more often that not he'll kick a big time goal from a set shot when it's needed.2 points

There's people I know getting excited and wanting to go and I'm really struggling to see the appeal. If you wouldn't normally go to see MFC play interstate, what does another 16 teams in the same city do to boost the appeal? Unless you want to watch 3 live matches in a weekend which you can do easily in Melb anyway. It's a dumb idea and I hope it gets barred to be honest.2 points

Agree BDA The review was shallow and about 3 mins at most highlighting Fritta and his selfishness or similar depending upon your view. Not ONE mention of Grundy Hunter Schache or JVR or our injury handling or effect late in the year or Tmac returning.Useless babble from Johnno and nothing salient from Healey.2 points

Definitely way overdue and can’t fathom why we haven’t locked in a training facility?? The reality is best training facilities don’t guarantee success… Pies have had the best in the last 20yrs & yet produced 1 flag.We won a flag training in a paddock which was 20% smaller than the G and Casey which is over an hour away.2 points

Still a Premiership hero for mine. Won’t ever forget the 45 mins of joy he brought after 57 year winter. Homesick, still a kid - we did same with Jeff White. Hoping the return game is not like Jeff Farmer’s2 points

a kind of pointless review, call fritta out for not kicking it, and call him out for not passing to someone in a better position. he is a forward and one of our best kicks for goal. i wonder how many times peter hudson, or Lockett passed the ball to players in a slightly better position when they knew they were in range. Fritta was one of the success stories of the year, not a reason we lost.2 points

Gosh I hope we win and get through to the GF. Daisy deserves to get a premiership, not only her but the other foundation players who started season 1 with us and have remained loyal.2 points

I like Barnett, has looked better in defence when not rucking in my view. Can take a strong contested grab. Not sure he's the go at 13/14 but if we traded down to a couple picks in the 20s I think he's worth looking at. We shouldn't be going into the season with only Grundy and Gawn as recognised rucks and an untried 18yr old Cat B rookie as back up.2 points

I realise talking about Hannan in a Hunter thread is getting off topic but I spoke to him in the preseason after this and told him no matter what happens to him for the rest of his career we'll all never forget this moment. He was thrilled. I asked him what he was thinking as he was getting closer to goal. He said if you have a look at it you can see me glance across looking for a better option. I really didn't want to kick it myself. He said the kick didn't go well off his boot and he was crapping himself it was going to miss. So his initial emotion was relief. Back on topic, I reckon by the end of next season we will be looking back on this trade and putting it up there with the Langdon trade as a quiet trade that turns into a massive bonus.2 points

As one who hates the totally iniquitous bye bye bye in VFL I hope that we never again have an odd number of teams. How about merging StKilda, North and Hawthorn and sending them to Hobart. 16 teams - less dilution of talent, and ridding us of three teams I dislike intensely. (If they added Geelong and Footscray too then 14 teams even better). The Tasmanian ferry now goes from Geelong so that would suit them, and a new or a nuanced stadium in Hobart could be a proper size and shape.2 points
