  1. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on psychotherapy (part and parcel of following the Dees for close to 50 years maybe). But only now realising I could have saved all that dosh and just come to Demonland and consulted with fellow posters. Could have dealt with my passive aggressive tendencies, obtuseness, drug problem and propensity to resort to innuendo with a few taps of my keyboard.

  4. I don't see under any circumstance why we should re-sign Baker. Another ruckman on our list is more important than a wingman/half back, who wasn't considered for selection this year.

  5. G'day all, in light of our headbanded hero's departure (and because I've had nothing better to do this week with my spare time), I've compiled all 43 of the goals that Jayden Hunt kicked in the red and blue in one moderately sized video! Cheers Jayden!

  6. Hilarious. Speaking on SEN, Dockers great Paul Hasleby backed up club list boss David Walls’ claim that if a player nominate to return to Victoria, they shouldn’t be able to choose which club.

  7. Intestine on trading day on fox. they said for both the LJ and Dunkley trades, they have asked for these players to come to their clubs and offered big contracts. It's really up to them to come to the party with the offer to finish the deal, even if they pay overs.

  8. I feel for Sam a bit. I personally think most of his issues are in his head. Yes he goes missing in games but sometimes I feel he was tossed around a lot by the selection panel, in out in out, that in itself would put pressure on anyone. I wish him all the best, seems like a good kid.

  10. Everyone enjoying Trade Sunday???

  11. Which they’re converting to a 4 x 600, a decent salary but maybe 250-300 per year extra. The dodgy part of the deal to me is Geelong having inside knowledge of every teams cap as their CEO was at the league office a year ago. And of course the Suns continued incompetence. They could’ve split their pick 7 with us or another side and sent Bowes to market with pick 15 or so. Plenty of clubs would’ve still taken him. Yet they don’t seem to have any idea how to negotiate

  12. Apparently Anthony Munkara is a massive Indigenous talent from the Tiwi Islands. He is also part of Essendon's NGA, but will easily be picked in the top 40 in this year's AFL Draft. Here is a link about him: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/anthony-munkara/ It was also reported that he kicked 9 goals and 6 behinds in a school match over the weekend. While I understand it is only school football it does show he knows how to kick a goal. I also found a highlights video of him on YouTube here: Does Anthony Munkara remind you of anyone? Personally, I think he definitely reminds me of Liam Jurrah especially in regards to way that he moves. Nevertheless, he is certainly a very exciting draft prospect. Fingers crossed that the Demons might have a chance of recruiting him in the 2022 AFL Draft.

  15. Would we look at Brayden George for a pick in the 20's? Just done an ACL, but a very talented player who kicked 11 goals in his first two NAB games this year. 185 cms and big bodied and compared to Tracc. Let him have 2023 to rehabilitate and could have a very good medium forward.

  17. Looks like we are taking only 2 players in the draft and only trading in Grundy. Unless someone else is traded out, we will need to delist one more, most likely Baker. It seems we are looking to give our young players at Casey every chance and maybe preparing to target someone next year, by making salary cap space and having extra future picks.

  18. It was created by the AFL, and now it is being exploited by teams who can manipulate the salary cap. The bit that stinks the most for me (and yes the MFC will do it as well), is how the cats can take on a contract and smooth out the terms. The contract should be honoured in full under the current terms. If that is possible why is pick 7 required to be traded out? Its a joke. The AFL is a joke when it comes to integrity of the competition.

  19. In both situations though the player is out of contract, so they'll be paying unders. I think 13 and F1 will be close to the actual deal. I know it's unders, but it will likely be evened up with some later pick swaps (NMF2 maybe involved). 15, 16 (F1) --> dunkley, 30, 35, 43 (F3) is just plain insulting and so far from where they need to be for a 26yo who just won the clubs b&f. And then throwing away that pick 15 and still expecting the deal to get done is just pure arrogance. Dogs only lose out on pick 15-18 if they let him walk to the PSD. In that case I can see them doing it. We let LJ walk to the PSD then we're missing out on 13 and a potential top 10 pick (I expect freo to fall next season). That's a situation where you take the unders offered.

  20. The Pearce Harris ruck duo is the best in the comp by a mile
    5 points
  21. Is Harris the best ruck in the comp? I think so - some of the things she does in the ruck remind me a lot of Luke Jackson's follow up work. And she'd probably beat him in a one-on-one in the forward line. What a string to add to her bow.

  22. I don't think that is quite right. We keep trying until Wednesday morning to get more, say that North F2. If Freo keep refusing, we ring LJ/Manager and say we are trying to help you get to the club you want, but they are not budging. We ask him/they to apply some pressure, and we are happy to have him back for a season and try again the following year. We tell him we obviously value him more than Freo do, so now it's up to you guys and them, our hands are tied. In the end Freo have promised him a fat contract and to get him traded by us and they need to get the job done, or lose him and all credibility in a massive fail. Plenty of other players and managers would be watching on. LJ said he won't go into the PSD. We will rely on that. Therefore it's us or them. We have bargaining power.

  23. I assume/hope we're pushing for North's 2023 2nd round pick, traded to Fremantle for Logue, as the icing on top of the Jackson deal. If we can get our hands on it, I think we'll try to trade it + Bedford for pick 15, held by GWS. Giants would be one of the teams more likely to push picks back given how many they'll have (picks 18 & 19 may also come under consideration). Bedford + 2023 2nd rounder tied to North (pick ~20) for pick 15 would value Bedford @ pick 56 - slight unders, but that's the cost of trading forward

  25. Weid out a solution: Dees-Dons trade could set off dominoes Melbourne key forward Sam Weideman is poised to move to Essendon for a pick that will enter discussions to try to finalise the Luke Jackson to Fremantle trade and have a cascading effect on a range of other deals. As the trade period enters its final days the Demons and Bombers are close to a deal over the former top-10 draft pick for a future third-round selection. The Bombers have had success in teasing out the best in another unfulfilled top-10 talent in Peter Wright, after he won this year’s club best and fairest two years after a trade from the Gold Coast for a fourth-round pick. The Dons will hope for a similar result with Weideman, 25. With a draft pick also likely to come in for Toby Bedford moving to GWS – the Giants’ initial offer of pick 44 has been rejected – the Demons will have scope to find a solution to the Jackson deal. The Dockers have offered pick 13 and their future first-round selection to the Demons. Melbourne want something more for the premiership player, who was pick 3 in the draft three years ago, given the Dockers’ future first-round pick is only forecast to be another selection in the teens. Freo will be inclined to add a future second-round pick to the two first-round picks if they get a selection back from Melbourne, such as Essendon’s future third they receive for Weideman, or the Bedford pick.

  27. 13, F1 and F2 (north 19 - 24) for Jackson and F2 (30-36 and F3 (48-54) seems reasonable to me. Gives freo an extra future 2nd so they can trade it for Sharp. They may want to use North's for that however. Maybe we will trade our future 1st plus Bedford for 12 or 15 from GWS (assuming they still have it) or Bedford plus North's future 2nd for 19. Probably wishful thinking but they have an extraordinary amount of 1st round picks and may wish to invest in next years draft.

  29. This is the best footy I’ve ever seen us play. In fact, this is the best AFLW performance of any team I’ve ever seen. The marking inside 50 and precision kicking around the ground is so good. Some of the switch kicks into the middle have been sublime. Just need to improve the goal kicking

  32. The pressure is really starting to build and that is what Freo want, same with Lions and Bulldogs and Lobbe is in the middle. It’s a house of cards Freo want us to sweat and second guess their intentions as we have the most to lose, they are hoping that we buckle. Eagles are sitting on the sidelines waiting to see who blinks first knowing that we have a weak hand going into the draft and may have to get a deal done to save face and get something back. LJ has gone from the Golden Goose to Xmas Pudding according to Freo and Eagles. Grrrrr.!!

  35. I mentioned that you may have missed it because of your poor judgement. Weid has improved his competitiveness in the ruck and most Casey and /L ers agreed his work in the last half of the season mostly on his own was both his best and most impactful with the packs and round the ground. No One in their right mind would go in with Harmes and Joel Smith as AFL rucks less the ground was an absolute bog. Yes setting up right is vital but goes both ways either your taps or opponents do why not get your own as well. Your assessment of Weids contribution in the ruck to Casey Demons Flag is both insulting and inaccurate in view of the whole hearted effort and absolute attitude plus improvement that he produced in the last half a season.

  39. Toby was really liked by his teammates and I would have liked to have seen him given more opportunities particularly in the second half of 2022 hell we could have used those fresh legs. I hope he goes on to become a GWS regular and makes a stellar career for himself.

  41. It is totally inappropriate for anyone to reveal private matters affecting a player's choice, though reasonable speculation should be acceptable on a site like this. A number of posters have complained that if he knew he was going it would have been better for the club if he left last year and have stuck into him for not doing that. That is why I asked if those who imply they know the personal reasons could state that those reasons didn't arise till this year. If they only arose this year, that should shut those complainers up totally. Not that they have much of a leg to stand on anyway.

  42. It’s pretty obvious IMV. I have no issue for LJ wanting to leave. It’s his right. However it’s not too much for us to ask LJ to behave professionally in the matter so that we are adequately compensated or have some leverage in negotiations. This is the part that leaves a sour taste and I’m sure the club would be unhappy with this as well given how much we have supported him and did right by him all year. It is quite disrespectful.

  43. I really hope we aren’t interested in Hunter, to me he is Spargo without the tackling pressure. A big no. I’d rather give Woey a chance in the seniors on the wing than Hunter. Also with ducking for high free kicks being stopped his possessions will halve. Strong no from me.

  44. I’m happy with this. There just isn’t the talent we need available this year. If a speedy skilful outside mid or a star key forward was available we would go for it. I’d clear Oskar Baker’s spot and draft a developing ruck, but otherwise, Grundy, 2 top picks and the Chandler upgrade and go to work on improving from within.
