  1. Jackson wants to get to Fremantle, as if he cares what we get for him in return. People are so gullible.

  3. Bruce is ‘chronically injured’ in the same way Lever, Gawn and Petracca are - he did his knee once. Some posters love a whinge about players being ‘chronically’ injured simply because they were injured in 2022.

  4. Judging by the hysteria here, he must be costing us 3 Ist rounders. FFS people.....get a grip! If he is coming, it's a low cost strategic option in an area of weakness. Jeeeez!

  5. We lost Mitch Brown, and Bruce is an upgrade on him. It’s that’s simple. He might come good and play in a premiership, or he might play a few cameos along the way that help us protect JVR and the like. Think of him as a coverage player and it makes a lot of sense.

  6. Probably not, but I'm very happy for them to just miss out for the next 10 years again though

  7. This is just not true. At the end of 2020 we traded in Ben brown. At the end of 2021 we drafted JVR. BB worked brilliantly for us and was a key contributor to the flag, unfortunately it looks like his knee was getting the better of him this year, I have no insight as to whether they can get it right for next year, neither does anyone who has posted on this forum that I have seen. JVR is developing nicely, let’s see how he goes next year. I would bet any amount of money that we are working hard on this problem through this trade and draft period. Just because the media circus hasn’t led with a story on it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Whether we succeed, that’s another thing altogether.

  8. This might upset a lot of people, but in my experience, very often fans hurt more than players at losses. Further, very often fans are more invested in their club, than some of the players.

  9. 🤣 Mate as if they honestly care. James Harmes is currently partying up in the USA having a grand old time. Do you honestly think he's thinking right now "Jesus, bloody Jacko.. bloody young fella wants to go home so I better delete his number off my phone"... The players will happily welcome Jacko back when they have their 10 year premiership reunion.

  11. There's definiteley some element of him wanting to leave on good terms, but at the end of the day, if a deal breaks down between clubs, he's choosing himself over his ex employer.

  13. My word you provide some excitable nonsense; he played 20 games and kicked 48 goals in 2021 and was staring us in the face before he got injured and made it easier for us to control Naughton.

  14. Neither of those kids are going to do much damage in the next couple of years. Henry’s goal kicking was a huge issue in a couple of games this year, and Bruhn’s done nothing to date. Footy journalists are worse than some Demonlanders. They assume the last game they saw is the status quo. Let’s just see how the cats go if things don’t go to plan next year. A third of their side will be near the end. If it gets hard they might not have the fire left.

  15. I watched every Casey game and recorded them for my research. Somebody must have been playing well down back! The average score against Casey for home and away, plus finals, was just over 56 points... less than 10 goals! Only one oppo player got off the chain across the season; Evans kicked 5 v Geelong. Only four oppo players managed 3 goals against Casey across the rest of the season. In 5 games the highest opposition goalkicker was a single goal! I think Tomlinson played 14 games for Casey. In those outings he was the Rock around which the full defence was built. Undervaluing his contribution to the VFL Premiership is mean spirited! Should he be kept on the list? Should he be playing for an AFL club in 2023? Time will tell, but his form in 2022 was solid.

  16. I honestly don't mind the Bruce option as depth. But I'll give him the benefit of doubt because when I watched him this year he had a turning circle of Ben Holland/Chris Dawes. Full preseason and hopefully strip a few kilos will help.

  19. All I can say is from a WA perspective the 2005 to 2007 born boys have great depth, with next years crop just starting to stand out in local ranks Cohen Livingston is getting better every time he plays, Koen Sanchez and Mitch Edwards also all going to be sought after. With Edwards the one who will really step forward next season If WA is anything to go by I expect the draft to go deep. The one to watch who is developing nicely is Aiden O’Driscolll, great pace, exceptionally clean with his hands, poise in congestion and impacts the scoreboard. He’s the younger brother of Nathan from Fremantle. Luka Kentfield is another who if he gets a good fitness base could start catching a few recruiters eyes. Forward ruck who has very good disposal for his size

  20. Melb supporters - We need a key forward, player get a key forward. Melb list managers - We are looking at Josh Bruce Melb supporters - Josh Bruce is rubbish, he had a knee injury and is going to to his 4th. Why are we looking at this bloke

  23. I would definitely include Taj in this list showed a bit in the Granny and has pace and stamina and looks a chip off the old block.! Howes also looks the goods, 6’3” has pace and skill just needs to build the tank and resilience for AFL and Disco at 6’4” is ready to go add in JVR also 6’4” and with another pre-season should hold down the second tall for us. There are boys and will need a couple of years as role players before they really blossom. Me I am expecting big improvements from Kozzie, Sparrow, Jordon, Petty, Rivers, Salem and Lever. Not sure about the other boys but you should never put limitations on young players, some will surprise you and some will frustrate and disappoint you.

  24. G'day all, in light of our headbanded hero's departure (and because I've had nothing better to do this week with my spare time), I've compiled all 43 of the goals that Jayden Hunt kicked in the red and blue in one moderately sized video! Cheers Jayden!

  25. You don't know that so don't put it in print and lower the tone of this debate. And as for culture breaker - really.? He was a cog in a great team season in 2021. Lesser impact this year. Trac, Clarry, Viney et al........ - now there are the culture leaders that everyone follows. He's still a kid barely 22. None of us know his personal priorities and should not take his ambition to return home personally IMO

  30. I think Ben Brown and the JVR are likely the replacements, but for one of them 2023 is too late, and for the other it might be too soon. I personally think Bruce is just a placeholder type of player, but I’ll still take him if he straightens us up. 👍

  31. His BS reason for wanting a trade. He wants to be closer to family ...........in Geelong FFS

  32. They were trying through the LJ trade to get Cadman. That hasn't worked. We are loading up reasonable picks in next year's draft, with more cap space as well. That will allow opportunities. You haven't answered, who would you have got, or should we have been able to get. Easy to criticize, but what are your suggestions? We could say they are idiots for not getting McKay, Cameron and Naughton. You can only get who is available at that time.

  33. The Vic crop with Reid, Duursma & Archer standing out as bottom agers this year, looks strong. Ashton Moir from SA looks incredibly gifted. Next year isn’t purely speculative, on performance some of those kids would be very high up the order this year if eligible.

  34. besides he pays a manager to worry about all that stuff. why/how would he get involved personally. he's still just a kid.

  37. True mo64 but we are seriously lacking a tall forward and none of our kids apart from JVR fill the bill. I want JVR playing round 1 with Bruce a short term option to provide coverage for TMac and BB we got monstered when we lost both of them this year.

  38. I hate myself for saying this a bit. We lack depth in tall forwards and outside midfielders. Let grab Bruce and Hunter if they are cheap and try and squeeze the most amount of talent we can. We are in the window. Let's go for it. I don't give a [censored] about his tattoos or hair (yeah, I rewatched Moneyball last night. Great film).

  39. Recruiters and draft experts like Cal Twomey have been following these kids long enough to be able to tell if one crop is stronger than another, especially in the first round or so. Are you living under a rock? To say that next year's group are considered to be stronger gives insight into the amount of top players that are playing high level footy at an underage level. It's the opposite of speculation. Experts forming their view based on evidence in the form of thousands of hours of vision.

  45. You've heard they're going to be future stars?
    4 points
  46. As you so often say OD, nothing has taken place even with successive boards promising they will follow this through. In the end you need an appropriate space which will take a complete change of thinking from this board or a future one if this one doesn't come to its senses. Following on from there, local council/state Govt baking plus State Govt $$. It seems we are still years and maybe a decade away or more from any of this coming to fruition. I also think this plays in to some of our recruitment issues and attracting some of the top players (maybe not massive issue but it all adds up). When they come and tour facilities where are we telling them our home is and what are we showing them? Facilities at AAMI / Gosches then tracking them an hour away out to the blowey hole that is Casey? Must feel a bit disjointed vs some of the other set ups surely.

  48. Why don’t you take your own advice when it comes to Brown? Also he kicked 3 in a flag winning side for your club. Think of what a player can do rather than what they can’t. Saw that on a bathroom wall somewhere…
