  1. Great win. Great season Congratulations to everyone at Casey Demons 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 Tough conditions but the team had warriors all over the park. Chandler and Dunstan were in and under the packs all day. Melksham 4 goals was a match winning effort. JVR good in tough conditions for a key forward. Weid in the ruck was ok against a bigger bodied opponent (break even probably). Oskar Baker (in probably his last game at the Dees) was also in the best, with his kicking and running all day. White (BOG) and Munro are absolutely hard nuts. Munro 17 tackles and a goal. Wow the emotion. A special mention for Daniel Turner’s two smothers in the dying minutes (with the game already won) were excellent. His determination and aggression will be good for MFC next year. Casey - a great year. Reward for the stalwarts and development of the youngsters. Job done.

  2. What a gruelling, gutsy hard fought win that was. Credit to all the boys who appeared to give it everything they had from the first bounce. Sharks are the real deal. Some real tough nutz and genuine footballers in the mix. Impressive switching and transition play in the first half. Really took the game on. A bit wayward at goal. Clarke, Woodcock & Kwaby stand outs in that first half. Kwaby in particular looked very dangerous at times but faded a little in the second half. So proud of the boys today. No doubt some sore bods after all that crash/bashing. Felt really sorry for Rosman missing this one. Stand outs for mine for Casey... Turner, Joel Smith (particularly the last quarter), Tomo, Dunstan, Melk, Munro, Bedford, Brown, Chandler (fantastic courage & second efforts all day) Baker, Woe & Laurie. Baker may have saved one of his best for last. He was very solid today in shizen conditions. Over ran the ball a few times but who didnt. Then straight back into it. His pressure / chasing without the ball was superb. Melk's goal from 50 & Mitch's goal in the teaming rain from about 40-45 near the boundary in the last quarter were crackers and sliced the Shark's fin for good. Mitch was also hitting packs hard as was JVR. JVR shows no mercy and i wouldn't want to be playing in front of him once he's put on an extra 5kg to 8kgs or so. His leap off a few steps is a tad Nic Natesqe. Melk's goal from the kick out of the scrum at HF also a highlight. His stint in the AFL appeared to result in him being in tip top shape for this hit out. He was running on top of the ground from the get go, albeit his opponent Kwaby was also finding a little too much time / space for my liking in that first quarter and a bit, offering plenty of rebounds for them. White a deserved Goss medalist. This bloke is everywhere at times and appears to have a huge tank. He's the epitome of the old school classic utility and a superb one at that. Reckon he would have fitted in beautifully into many good AFL teams in the 80s! He's at AFL level now IMV ... just not sure where you would play him though. Congrats to all the Casey boys on an amazing year. Great to see the Demon Army out in force behind the goals. Sat with them in the first quarter but the netting behind the goals was too much for this old timer to bare. Big thanks to KC, Werridee, NS and plenty of others on here for their coverage throughout the year 💪🏼✌🏼

  3. Southport should be in the AFL instead of the Suns. Actual club with history, established supporter base and jumper that doesn't induce nausea.

  8. The fact that there's a Gold Coast based reserves level footy club with enough passionate fans to accuse the other side of cheating on social media is a feel good moment for the national game!

  13. I hope we never see JVR in the VFL again, he’s pure class. With Jackson now Gawn, Weideman could have a chance as a permanent second ruck.
    11 points
  14. I can, I believe that he now should be persisted with as a direct replacement for Luke Jackson. Weeds was OUTSTANDING all day in the ruck !! He was immense today and I would scour the country for a Key Forward to work in tandem with JVR, and BBB, I reckon T.MAC is cooked!

  15. This team is full of AFL listed young players. The only player who wasn’t there today was Rosman and he’s concussed. I just don’t understand what you mean by carrying so many experienced fringe players. That’s not a Casey decision that’s a Melbourne decision. Of course Casey will play M Brown and Melksham if they’re available.

  16. So many of the Southport players are actually ex AFL players or academy players with GC. They finished second because they have lots of talent and an endless amount of cash. It’s disrespectful to call them a team full of plumbers and electricians.

  29. Had an interesting convo with a club insider during the Casey grand final. Said we had too many players carrying injuries into the finals in Lever, Salem, Petracca , Jackson , B. Brown and Oliver, and that Fritsch who couldn’t jump because of a knee issue and Gawn with a sore foot shouldn’t have even played. Reckons that bar injury we will be back with a vengeance next year. Also said Joel Smith was offered a contract on low money which he didn’t accept and almost went to Sydney who offered him a 3 year deal.( Longmire is his godfather). MFC came back and upped the offer so he decided to stay.

  34. It’s not just the age of their better players that will make it a season that won’t be replicated - it’s that every coach will be working out ways to slow them down or to stop them altogether. In addition, the fixture won’t be as kind to them and finally, everything went right for them in so many of their miracle comebacks - accuracy in kicking for goal, frees in front of goal, opposition coaching errors, As their two close finals defeats showed, if one or two things don’t go your way the result may not go your way either.

  35. Oliver cannot buy a vote from these absolute maggots even when we win but Neale, Miller and Cripps all with votes in losing teams. This is why we have to stop letting umpires decide this award. They can’t make simple calls during games let alone after them.

  39. I went along to watch live. Turner definitely AFL ready. JvR has the necessary skills to play AFL next year. - add strength as well. He is very good close in contested situation goty the ball out a few times. Is mobile and can fly. Thrives on physical contact. He walked past us after the Presentation. TMc was right JvR is built like a Tank with a bit of zip. Another pre season and watch out. Woey looks like he could be a good AFL player. Did some good things. T Mc was at the presentation. Did anyone notice whether he seemed to be inured - foot???

  43. Interesting watching the Casey today. Who plays well, who struggles, who is AFL standard, who is not etc... You would think Turner, JVR , Bedford and Chandler look AFL standard and ready to go. Also interesting to keep my eye on Woewodin who looked very composed at times but probably a year away from being ready. Weideman, too, looks too good at times, but again, even when it was dry, he dropped marks that hit his hands clean. Disappointing. But his ruck work was really good against White, Chandler, Dunstan, Melksham and Munro were outstanding today.
