  1. So a quick round up of last Friday mornings Brekky. Jackson will go in my opinion. Goodwin stated “Fremantle will pay a lot for Jacko.” Wasn’t a definite he’s going but I can’t recall Goodwin saying ‘if’. spoke glowingly about the group when Karl Langdon who was MC asked about. Goodwin spoke about the conversations he has with certain players. The below is paraphrased but accurate. Petracca - he has a father son relationship with where CP needs varying levels of feedback at times to suit his personality. Gus needs cuddles. Viney just wants to be hit between the eyes with any feedback regardless of praise or criticism. Max - “you just can’t have a sensible conversation with Max”. 😂 His first slide of his 2021 pre season ppt presentation was “Grand Final Day, how are we going to play” He wouldn’t disclose what this years is but reading between the lines I think it aligns to the ‘dynasty’ chain of thought and what the team can sustain and achieve if they stay together. Hes really happy with the development of the young blokes and mentioned that they could all play in the team atm if injuries dictated it. Bluntly admitted his relationship with Bartlett was poor. Addressed Fritsch over the last couple weeks incidents. Lots of other things reviewed that we’ve already seen in the media such as his own revival and his mentors etc that he connected with. But the thing that made me the most pleased was his utmost confidence that the team issues had been addressed and that we would see that tonight (Friday). Also picked myself up a WEG framed premiership poster signed by Goody for $225 in the auction.

  2. I have been one of his critics since early on. However it is now plainly obvious that he is not a senior level talent it is time to stop the bulling and shaming on here. Sam would appear to be a nice guy and I am sure he is trying his best. It is unfortunately not enough. I feel sorry for him. Let's get off his back.

  3. The Cats stand in our way of consecutive premierships The've reinvented themselves and have obviously learnt a lot from last year's preliminary final They have quality players across all lines and now play a form of total defence Their win against us is the best win of the season (given the stakes, 1 vs 2 etc) ... our 2 wins against the Lions & Freo would be next in line or at least in the top 5 wins for the season Our match committee will not be underestimating the Cats as we will have learnt a lot from our loss to them However, our best beats their best but we need to bring our best when we play them next

  6. SWEET SIXTEEN by KC from Casey The game was an uneven match up from the very beginning. The Casey Demons, representing an alignment between the reigning premiers Melbourne and the outer southeastern expansion area centred around a sprawling Cranbourne with its rapid population growth and the stand alone Northern Bullants from the inner north who sit at the foot of the VFL table. With 14 AFL listed players and a couple more having experience at the elite level opening with the breeze at their backs, the result was inevitable. The game ended with a whopping 91 point win to the Casey Demons who wrapped up the competition’s minor premiership a month early with their sweet 16th consecutive win for the season. Luke Dunstan got leather poisoning with 41 touches and 2 goals to go with them while young key forward Jacob Van Rooyen came away with a 5 goal haul. However, from go to whoa this was a supreme team effort with individuals dominating and pulling together to achieve the desired outcome. They were naturally at their most dangerous with the wind at their backs. The Demons piled on six goals to nil in the first and third terms and, while the Bullants offered strong resistance in the second, the home side maintained its stranglehold with four goals to one at the end - a tribute to the strong defence led by Adam Tomlinson, Daniel Turner and Jake Bowey who were capably assisted by Casey listers Corey Ellison and Matthew Buntine. The swirly winds weren’t conducive to sizzling displays of skill but the Demons mastered the elements as much as was physically possible, The midfield was led by the masterful Dunstan and his assistant Jimmy Munro who took full advantage of the strength in the ruck of the returning Josh Smith who had a great duel with his Bullants counterpart. There was plenty of support in the engine room including from skipper Mitch White and improving youngster Riley Baldi. Demon fans would have seen a lot to like from players of the future, notably Van Rooyen who showed special talent with his solid marking in the difficult conditions and his boundless enthusiasm and attack on the football. Bailey Laurie, Blake Howes and Taj Woewodin are also names that can be earmarked for 2023 and beyond. The fact that they can be developed in a successful environment at Casey will be of immense benefit to the players and the club when the time comes for them to step up to the next level. A lot can also be said for small forward rivals Toby Bedford and Kade Chandler who kicked five classy goals between them and though he was subdued, Andy Moniz-Wakefield managed an awesome goal in a moment of magic. Mitch Brown was as always at this level a dangerous foil up forward with three goals and Joel Smith had some pleasing moments up playing forward on his return from a long lay off with injury. The only annoyance for this team is the fact that it has another bye coming up in the lead up to the last month before the opening of its finals campaign. 8. Harmes is no auto selection back into a side that just had it's best four quarter effort for the year. Posters overate Harmes also. Our mix looked great and I agree with others in that he should be competing with Sparrow for that mid rotation, or Jordan on that wing role if it comes to it. Hunt in form playing on a flank is a big boost and point of diff for us. Likewise with Gus playing more mid allowing Petracca to float more forward. And Melksham is nailing his role atm and I think could be a great tag on Daicos. Rough him up and get dangerous going forward. We need to start intimidating some of these players that we've allowed to get off the chain in previous games. Ben Brown for Weed the only change.

  9. I'm quite confident JVR will be our number 1 or 2 tall forward in 2023, but also believe he is a preseason away from being ready to regularly do the 2 things the MFC demand from our tall forwards at AFL level. The MFC require them to have the aerobic fitness to get up to the wings and even half back to contest before rushing forward post turnover, and that they have the talent/technique/strength/competiveness to not be outmarked. I don't think JVR yet has the fitness required to do the first, and although he has talent and competiveness in spades, he still doen't have the strength or technique for the second. At least twice yesterday at VFL level, he gave away free kicks in marking contests and he was also outmarked a few times. I think for those reasons, although he isn't pleasing anyone outside the four walls of the club, Weids is ahead of him and also why I think Joel Smith played forward for Casey yesterday. Ideally we have a fit and in form BBB and TMac for the finals, but I think Weids and J Smith are the coaches preference ahead of JVR while those two are absent. JVR will be a star for us, but I think we're going to have to be patient to see it in the seniors.

  11. ANB is so important to his team with his many pressure acts. Dropping him would border on lunacy. He always does what is required and is a wonderful leader in our forward zones. Couldn't agree more with David-Demon on this one.

  13. Im amazed people are jumping on the Jeee-long bandwagon. Does anyone think Scott wants to face Melbourne in the QF on the MCG? He'll be praying we finish 2 or 3 or outside the top 4. As for some DL posters feeling sorry for Ginnivan. You cant be serious. I hope Hibberd pile drives him. Do you think Collingwood give a damn about us. Jack Watts says...hi. FFS

We have an extra days break on the Pies 2 extra days against Carlton who are coming back from Brisbane And an extra days break on the Lions The fixture has been tough up til now but no more excuses. We get a week off after round 23 to reset and rest some of those tired and sore bodies. Let's run the table and take number 14! ❤️💙🏆

  17. Amazing what the inclusion of four or five players plus a turnaround in form can do. Their forward line with Stengle and a fit Cameron has made a huge difference. Tom Atkins, de Koning and Max Holmes have been terrific as well. They aren't as reliant on their old stars as in previous years and have a more aggressive take it on gameplan. I still think their bottom six of Kolo, Parfitt, Rohan, Bews, Miers, etc. are worse than ours and when the whips are cracking our midfield is far superior..

  26. Only long-term injury stopping him going round again. A competitive beast, and pure AFL standard. I watched him play Casey v Swans earlier this year as his warm-up to seniors return, and he played what can only be called a perfect game. Won EVERY contest, and delivered to teammates in open space downfield. It was a memorable example of the level difference between AFL and VFL. As an aside, Disco Turner was very close behind him, and watching his Casey game yesterday, the boy’s gonna be very very good when he gets his next chance.

  27. I love that he's played more games for us (96 so far) than he did for Essendon (84). Four more games and we'll have first dibs on his offspring and, if he plays next year, 200 games is within reach.

  28. In his podcast interview with Neroli Meadows in the off season, he said the premiership was just more fuel for his motivation, because he wants that feeling again. I thought he was cooked with those repeat injuries early in the year. Now he’s flying. And I’d say playing better than he did at any stage in 2021. He was right place, right time last year when Hunt and Smith got injured in my view, and hung on to his place for the GF by the skin of his teeth. This year he is back to his best and firmly entrenched in the team. Loving what the pig has to offer this year!

  30. BT is disgracefully bad, I can only imagine the reason he still calls is because he has a contract and probably has something on some high ups at Seven. Funny that Rex Hunt chose to direct his issues towards Daisy and not the fact that there is a commentator who is so far behind the game it makes me cringe any time he speaks. I finally managed to watch the replay, the way we played was the "Melbourne way" that Goody has instilled. We controlled every part of the contest, and save for a period in the 3rd quarter where Freo were pressing but not getting reward we never looked like being in any kind of distress. Does make you wonder if the Freo loss earlier in the year was over rated given we were missing May for most of the game and Petty for a large chunk including their burst. Fair play they took advantage but they had no chance of breaking our defence. These away wins can mean so much and can be the perfect springboard for the next few weeks, if we can bring that game plan and pressure against the Pies, we win. The Pies have been hanging on in ridiculous fashion since the bye, but I would not be wanting it to go down to the wire as we have recently panicked with close games. One thing I have to mention is Gus in the middle, Harmes has provided a great option for giving him jobs to do, but I have to say the fact of it is that Gus is a better player and if we can cover him in defence (which I thought Hunt was really good) then I would love to see him stay there for the rest of the year. He's had a stellar year as a defender and if we move him back there I won't be gutted but I just think this win proved that he is a natural midfielder. I also thought May was back to his best, but it does seem that he needs Lever to be around to be able to play his best. Those two with Petty when together seem like an unbreakable wall, lose one of them and it does seem like we're a bit shaky. Finally the only disappointment from the match was Weid, the only positive I can give him is that he made the most of his one moment in the light. The rest was just mostly him not giving enough of a competitive effort, it seems all or nothing with him. He stays only because structurally we need him there at least until Brown is fully fit, but jeez he is one of the most frustrating players we've had for a while. Great win, possibly season defining.

  34. The game is so much better without countless players staging for frees Result - open footy, more attacking footy and more scoring opportunities Less congestion as the players need to keep moving the ball on instead of looking to get a soft free kick ... less stoppages as well The game at the MCG produced 29 goals ... what's not to like? High contact, soft, frivolous free kicks are no more (in a general sense) and the players have been well and truly sent a message Players being fined retrospectively for staging is a great move too

  37. I think we’ve been very unlucky with how this has played out as a club. In normal situations he’s back and forth whenever he can, and he’s living in Melbourne experiencing a new place and all the great cultural things it offers. His family is visiting 5-6 times a year and seeing their son play at The G in front of 50,000 people as a guest of the club. Instead he was living though horrific lockdowns and seeing his mates at home go to the beach, and talk [censored] about Victoria. WA lived virtually untouched by the pandemic for 2 years. I honestly think this is a huge factor in his thinking, and the pressure he’d be getting from his family and friends. Let’s not forget that the pandemic has constituted 50% of Luke’s entire adult life.
