At the very least we should make enquiries and kick up rumours every single year for the rest of his career. At best we get a gun player, at worst we push up Freo's salary cap and give the Brayshaw family a little extra cash.7 points

He was just sharing information rp. Not sure why you’d pot him for that. Nup, can’t say it with a straight face.7 points

He is a skilled bullshit artist. All his posts have an element of credibility, that’s why so many believe his crap.6 points

A brief summary of the kind of character we're bringing into the club.5 points

It was widely known and commented on that Hogan and the club ended up where they did because Hogan wouldn’t commit past next season. GNF only posted that after Bell stated Fremantle we’re walking away from negotiations, he plays the percentages and then claims the information he receives comes from a source within the club. He’s pretty much always wrong though.5 points

thanks mate , I can tell you that Miss 11 and 13 was more upset , than my 7 year old , I guess as we also sponsored Jesse we had met with him many times personally and so on, It was hard for the kids to take. I had explained to them some of the reasons and the cancer side of it too , they completely understood that , as we are sadly very familiar with cancer in our family. I must say though the club did ring me within minutes of the trade being done and tell me, which was a nice touch.5 points

Having a quick look at the AFL tracker KK has been in the top 5 on the ground for total distance covered 6 times this year out of his 8 games. Lowest amount out of those 6 games was 13.8km and highest was 15.3km. Only a small sample and judging by the stats above his tank seems in good shape.4 points

I don’t agree with that. Wanting to go home and not wanting to go to Freo aren’t mutually exclusive positions. “I want to go home” and “I want to go home at all costs” are different propositions. The inability to get a deal done with West Coast means he’s faced with two poor choices: not make it home, or go to Freo, and he chose. It doesn’t discredit his desire to get home, it just means it was trumped by his desire not to play for Fremantle. Who could blame him?4 points

Well until we start training it's over for footy... This is the worst period of the year for me as footy gets taken over by racing, some weird pastime people continue to call a sport for some unknown reason. A more pointless pursuit I cannot think of. Can anyone tell me when we're back on the track? It will be a bit later this year because of our finals appearances, how strange is that. Bring on season 2019...and to think some want to shorten the season, must have rocks in their heads.3 points

I'd like to see Charlie Spargo in the Ruck. Equally pointless, but pizz funny.3 points

Best Solution too good ... Homesman was game but there's often a fine line between winning and being an also-ran. Full credit to the winner though as it had to carry top weight, had the wide barrier and it had the Group 1 winning form. Started 4th favourite so it was well supported.3 points

Happy to put my hand up and say I was in “I don’t believe it, makes zero sense, he’s a gun, Goody only recently said he is settled etc” camp. The reason I’m happy to put my hand up is it wasn’t until his exit interview and as old mate above mentioned a week post then with Goody they decided to get him to Freo. This thread was started in July so ppffftttt.3 points

This is the area where there is some uncertainty. I understand that T Smith and Keilty have been given another year on the rookie list so the only question mark is whether Maynard gets the upgrade. Unless the rules have changed, we could go with a primary list of 38 and take more rookies (Category A) to give us total numbers of 44 plus the Category B rookies.3 points

The A League kicked off last night. There's one game free to air each week on Saturday night.. Channel 1. Tonight is the Melbourne Derby from Docklands between Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City. Kick off is 7:50pm. It sees the debut of Keisuke Honda for Victory. Honda is/was arguably one of the top 10 players out of Asia and Japan's best player. For those who dismiss the game ...Try it.. you may enjoy it... the rest of the world does3 points

Observable reality (if you’re smart enough) screamed that we came into this trade period ready to trade out Hogan and move on May. The fact that Mahoney inelegantly admitted that we won’t get May if Hogan isn’t traded revealed how desperate we were to send Hogan to Fremantle; we were actively recruiting a player with the riches from trading Hogan. ! Its a maths equation: x requires y and we want x, so y has to happen and did happen.3 points

It’s nice that you’re going to love Sam May but how will you feel about Steven, Ron?3 points

Yep, that’s interesting. If true, I wonder if Dean Kent leaving to go to the Saints represented the loss of a mate in circumstances where he was already feeling a bit isolated, and he just thought - it’s time. I heard (again hearsay to the power of the distance between the Earth and the Sun) that the leadership group wasn’t entirely happy with him. Added to this, a mate who’s wife is best friends with the wife of an absolute club legend (former player) told me that Hogan’s name was involved in trade discussions last year - I didn’t post it at the time because I couldn’t be bothered dealing with the wrath of a few here. Anyway - whatever the reasons, he’s now gone. As I said, he seems like a decent fellow - but, as an observer from afar, Hogan’s relationship with the club always had an awkwardness about it. I think I’m going to love Sam May.3 points

Homesman is the one for me. Should jump to the front on a leaders track and a big weight drop makes it a very good chance.3 points

From the way he's standing, it looks like his foot is buggered. And there's a haunted look in his eyes, like a bloke seriously troubled by something. Dodged a bullet3 points

There's an aspect to this which I'm not sure if already mentioned. Leadership. We just poached a Captain. Someone with real leadership ability. We bemoan the lack of leadership at times...well.. here's some.3 points

I'd like us to get on the line to GWS. Not sure if they have any high end academy players coming through next year, but maybe we can offer up next years 2nd in combination with one of our 2nd rd picks to get one of their three first rounders. Would not only get us in the first round, but also give us the flexibility of trading our first round pick next year if we get involved with any of those high profile players coming out of contract (Kelly, Whitfield, Martin, etc.).3 points

We're essentially in agreement then, as that too is also my point. While some clubs/people may rate a certain player (Lockhart for example) around Pick 60, us and some other clubs may see him around Pick 25. What I do know is that Rawlings rates him very highly. You're thinking of Hutchins.2 points

I really doubt he will get picked up in the National draft. He's a chance to be rookied. He's no Fritsch.2 points

I can't tell if this is a photoshop or not. Never seen either of these guys smile.2 points

Seems odd. You would have to ask why given the family type atmosphere fostered by Goody and PJ. A bit of reflection by Hoges may be in order. Good old fashioned rationalisation and self justification I would have thought.2 points

Bear with me a bit on this but I wanted to look at the academy impacts on this draft pick: 28 will be pushed out by Blakely, Tarran Thomas, Quaynor and maybe Rhylee West and Bailey Scott. So pick 28 will become at least 31 and maybe even 33. Where as pick 36 will be pushed out 3-5 spots but move back at least 1 for Blakely and possibly one for West. If it's just the 3 picks my guess is we pick with 31 and the pick we gave up becomes 38. Harder to work out what happens with 46 but it probably stays about the same. Value wise that's not good for us but I'm sure it's about getting ahead of a bid for Bedford as well as the recruiters being more confident of landing a player in the early 30's than late 30's.2 points

The stat I really liked was in his second year and pre injury issues he averaged the most metres gained for the Suns and 13th most in the competition. It's just the player we need.2 points

Just wait until that post is screenshotted and placed on Facebook which someone then shares via email which is then printed out and taped to a telephone pole and then some millennial takes a selfie in front of and posts it to Snapchat.2 points

Good question, I am not sure. Perhaps rather a Jinx. Aside from Dennis Cordner way back in the ether, there have not been many great successes at the Club in this jumper. Certainly not in the last 50 years. For me, Jesse's time in that jumper was a disappointment. And it spent a considerable amount of time in the locker.2 points

I think they've taken a big risk with a potentially unhappy player with an unhappy wife. But then again they do think they are still in the window with Ablett in his last year and other stars around 30 now so they really have no choice but to go for it next year - they are still topping up in this trade period. I think they are deluded. I hope they are too.2 points
