https://mobile.twitter.com/MattBurgan/status/1046642832914636800 For those who didn't know (like me), Matt Burgan is finishing up his 8+ years at the Dees from tonight. I know he's copped a bit of stick from a few on here, but he's always come across as a guy that really loved the footy club. Thanks for everything Burgs.25 points

With tonight’s 2018 Keith “Bluey” Truscott Medal Presentation, we will be marking the end of the football season - one of our club’s best in many years. And this is the perfect time for us to once again thank all those who have contributed to Demonland during the past season as well as all those who post here or simply visit and read without posting. We value your contributions and ongoing support - especially to Nasher who keeps us going on the technical side, to our moderators whose task is often thankless - a task that is never easy. Special thanks to our regular contributors, Whispering Jack, George on The Outer, The Oracle, JVM, KC from Casey, Grapeviney and Supermercado (my podcast co-presenters) and all others who have provided us with material and articles. Let's hope that 2019 will finally be the year that we break through and experience a Grand Final and Premiership flag. We also look forward to the another year of women's competition and hope a finals appearance there will be a prelude for later in the year. As always, we are on the look out for new contributors who have something to say about the mighty Demons. If you have the talent or simply want something to say about the club in article form, please contact me via PM. Cheers, thanks again and keep your eye on the red and the blue. Goodbye 2018. It was a fun ride. Bring on 2019.22 points

I'm not just saying this because it looks very likely he will leave, but Hogan never really felt like a Melbourne player to me, does anyone else feel that way?17 points
-
To be fair, Hogan has never had a real clean run at it. Injury, tragedy, followed by further injury and more tragedy. Also I think people are trying to make too much of the argument that he wasn’t ‘invested’ enough in the club purely because his body language isn’t sufficiently positive for them. He’s an individual and a very talented one at that. For a bloke who was whisked 3500 kms away from his family and mates when only 17 years old to a basket case of football club and managed to eek out a career that has so far yielded a rising star award, multiple 40+ goals seasons amongst huge challenges, I think it’s a massive credit to him. I understand this method of coming to terms with his departure is some type of coping mechanism for many on here but let’s not forget everything he’s been through and still managed to achieve for our club.16 points

I'm sure I speak for many when I say the pleasure is all ours Andy and crew. Demonland is an outstanding forum and getting better all the time. That takes a huge amount of time and effort, and I can assure you that it is greatly appreciated! Speaking personally as an interstate member, I can honestly say that Demonland is my football lifeline. I don't know where I'd be without it.12 points

The industry think Weid is a bona fide superstar in waiting. Kennedy/Hawkins good. Combine that with another bloke who is an 3 goal a game player..... cash the chips now. He was going one day. TAke the loot12 points

Hogan is a gun and gave us hope when we had none, it will be a shame to lose him. But I’m also excited to see who/what we end up with as a result of trading him, I think we’re in for a cracking trade period just quietly. #WhatdoesETthetradewhispererknow?11 points

Rumour that Carlton into the bloke at GWS who left us for $7m. Couldn't think of a better club for him to go to.11 points

he's been gone for days, but it's common knowledge in the playing group now. nothing less than two picks (one for May). also St Kilda offered Kent THREE TIMES $$ and years what we did. idiots. also, the Hogan salary relief absolutely on the table. they're kicking the Gaff tyres at the 11th hour. was some talk of a hail Mary crack at Lynch. no dice - it's Richmond.11 points

It's a shame to see him go. I always enjoyed his enthusiasm and professional attitude. Even after a loss, it was obvious it cut him deep. Thanks for the years Burgs.9 points

I'm with you on this mate, before he signed his contract extension i made a comment on gere that eventually he will go back to Perth. When that would happen i wouldn't know. I got shouted down by someone ( who i wont name ) on here who thinks his [censored] don't stink, and made out that he was invested in this footy club.... Anywhere from a personal point of view theres just been too much noise on Hogan come this time of the year ever year. When theres smoke there's fire and i think his time is up with us. As much as i can't stand him, i look at someone like Alex Neale Bullen who's from SA, who shows passion and is heavily invested in this club by taking up a leadership role up forward. Bleeds and loves the footy club. I have never once had that feeling with Hogan.9 points

I always find the BnF results to be fascinating. It gives an insight into the values of the coaches and the unseen things that players are asked to do during matches that the fans don’t notice. Jones in second place to round 16 with Oscar in seventh is intriguing and shows their value to those setting the standards and gameplan.8 points

Both 1 and 2 were shouted down about a month or 6 wks ago. Some children demanding the thread be closed, others claiming trade scenarios were a waste of time as he was 'settled'. The usual suspects telling us what we are allowed to think. There was some good discussion on what his value might be both on our list and as a trade. I'd like him to stay, but understand now is a good time to maximize trade benefits if he is open to a move. He's a quality player, but we have the ability to significantly improve our list should he go. Doubt we'd get 2 x 1st rounders next year, certainly not when he becomes a FA.8 points

I think he’s an aloof character which contributes to that sentiment, but I don’t doubt his commitment. He has just had a lot of other things running through his head (understandably). He has looked distracted because he is.8 points

I reckon a bit will play out at the Bluey tonight. Usual platform for a bit of Gossip and players to flag their intentions or have the intentions of the club aired7 points

Aren't there two separate and distinct issues at play here ? 1. Posters actively advocating trading Hogan before any murmurs that he wanted to head home. 2. Posters trying to discuss the best scenarios available for the MFC in light of the strong rumours that Hogan does want to head home. You can think posters were ill-considered to want to trade out a talent like Hogan and also discuss the best possibilities if he does go. My preference is still for him to stay, but I can see potential benefits if he goes.7 points

Dom Tyson's manager just on Trade Radio. He acknowledged possibility of a move if the right opportunity came up. Dom loves it at Melbourne but plays his best footy as inside mid amd with our talent he's been pushed out to wing. Has been some interest, but wouldn't say who, but would have to be right for Dom7 points
