Surprised by this. Blues haven't managed him properly for mine.

Dee's have any interest?

Potentially low risk with high reward if the price and terms are right. Not sure if we would have any more luck getting him fit than what Carlton has though.

Not for mine NSC

Martin has struggled with injuries since moving to Carlton and hasn't played a full AFL season since 2017 which is all I think we need to know.

He'll be picked up, but I think he's more likely to go west at this point.

Hahah yeah you guys are probably right. Freo has some interest apparently after a medical.

Some Carlton friends suggest they havent managed his injuries that well but who knows.

Carlton have had a shot ton of injuries and sacked their fitness boss. So perhaps they realise it’s on them. If his injuries were manageable / improvable  he’d certainly be a good pick up.

Even poorer man's Shane McAdam, don't need another NQR medium forward on the list

What a waste of talent. Had his injuries but you have to wonder if he had the professional attitude needed

Blues spent the farm on him (and Zac Williams) and both have been massive fails

He'll be 30 soon, so not worth the bother

Correct. Commentary was always that he and Williams had the ability to play midfield but never returned to preseason fit.

A no from Mr.

Which is a tad ironic because I was dead keen when he was last on the market.

Good thing I'm not in recruitment given Martin was very good coin at the blues.

This comment from the blues wouldn't give other clubs much confidence (it feels like a bit of a nothing statement)

Grapeviney's shocked emojoji made me wonde if I read as a shot ar martin - which wasn't my intention

Got enough problems of our own.

I still have hopes for Spargo.

Actually saw him at the shops a month or two ago and was struck by how much he just didn't look like an AFL footballer. Well aware he's had his injuries over his whole career but I'd expect to see someone in ripping nick, toned leg muscles and decent shoulders – if he'd been eating well and doing the amount of gym you'd expect of an AFL footballer, particularly one that has spent lots of time on the sidelines. But he just looked kind of meek.

MASSSSIVEEEE NOOOOOOOO

My brother was playing footy in QLD at the time Jack Martin was playing late years of juniors. All everyone would talk about was how good he was.

Hard to believe it’s amounted to so little

Nah.

But I see 'long fingers' Marchbank was also delisted. Weird that the Blues showed such little loyalty to him just ONE YEAR after he 'SINGLEHANDEDLY' robbed us of a win against those rats last year.

I'd almost be happy to take him, then drive him somewhere and leave him there. He'll be fine! I don't wish him harm. He'll thrive. He can use those super long fingers to pluck fish from rivers, and maybe even a few birds as they fly overhead. When he's done he can tap some aircraft to collect him, or latch on. Whatever.

One of the most talented juniors in recent memory. He never put it together through a combination of poor work ethic and injuries, similar to Harley Bennell though less troubled. If he had the determination he could've been a star of the game, but alas he's now 30 and on the scrap heap returning home to WA.

Nnnnnnooooope.

If Carlton thought he was worth anything they would have held him and facilitated a trade for at least a basic burnable pick to use for the Camporeale twins.

Not managed properly?  He is lazy and not professional enough.

Steer clear

Going to Fremantle.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
