That is the burning question Dee Boys, we know that three of them are on the rise, we need another three to show their worth next year and the other three to be ready to roll in ‘26. It all comes down to development, we need to snag a great forward & ruck coach asap. We do not want to waste these youngsters.😁

Somewhere in between never and not once.

Whilst not disagreeing, how many of these are actually any good? Or good enough for us to challenge for premierships?

We will find out first in 2025, then 2026.

That’s the point I asked you?

Do you know any thing about Wade? You ignored the question!

You just goofed of with an ill informed comment with no knowledge.

No he hasn’t played an AFL game yet in 2 and a half years so he a dozen matches ahead of Matty Jefferson in time.

Reading the reports on his VFL games, and his roles of forward back and ruck he also has are similar to JVR who is in his third year this year and has played in junior state and now AFL/VFL in those 3 positions.

He played one  season of VFL Jeffo now 2, so we can get a gauge from both their progress with a little bit of goal scoring also he sounds like a good very early 20 plus at 190cm odd recruit.

He is NOT bottom of the barrel !

Perhaps our mid year recruiting of Luker Kentfield is far more project orientated and could possibly apply to your remark.

And he won’t come with a huge price tag perhaps an early third rounder.

So let’s see he has asked for a trade to us and who is more accurate in his ability and suitability for our list and team.

I did not goof off and absolutely have enough insights to know he is not going to improve us.

We can send them Tomlinson back?

They might relent if they sign Stringer, I can see why they wouldn’t give up a contracted player unless they’re bringing talent in.

Already losing Cumming, Perryman and perhaps Peatling.

Do we shift focus to Conor Stone?

Summary

  • Liam Baker has chosen the Eagles as his preferred club and is expected to be traded for pick 13, if the Eagles secure it in a trade for Tom Barrass (likely heading to Hawthorn).
  • Jack Graham will join the Eagles on a four-year deal. Richmond offered an improved contract but now must wait for free agency compensation, which could be up to $700,000 for an end-of-first-round pick.
  • Kamdyn McIntosh is waiting on Richmond's decision regarding his future.
  • Richmond is losing multiple premiership players this season, including Dustin Martin, Marlion Pickett, Dylan Grimes, Daniel Rioli, Shai Bolton, Liam Baker, and Jack Graham.
  • The Eagles are assessing key defenders on the market, with Tom Clurey, Lewis Young, and Denver Grainger-Barras exploring new options.
  • Greater Western Sydney (GWS) is determined to keep contracted players Xavier O'Halloran and Wade Derksen despite interest from the Bulldogs and Demons.
  • GWS has picks 14, 34, and 39 and will get a compensation pick for Isaac Cumming (joining Adelaide).
  • Harry Perryman is expected to leave GWS for the Pies, with Port Adelaide missing out on both him and Cumming.
  • GWS believes James Peatling is likely to stay but is still considering offers from other clubs.
  • Jake Stringer has been linked to GWS due to connections with Jason McCartney.
  • Dan Houston is keen to join Carlton, but North Melbourne's future first-rounder offer makes the Blues’ task difficult.

Wade Derksen has apparently requested a trade to the Demons.

Whether or not it happens....we shall wait and see?

Hard to hold on to a guy who hasn't been given the chance at senior level and wants to play elsewhere to get that chance

I would hope we play hardball back and let it hang out there. We want him, but fair price. They have enough moving parts to worry about, if it works as a three club trade to get something else done, great. Maybe even work on someone like Ollie lord and let gws know if we land him we won’t want derksen.

Contracted  so I guess they can play hard ball.

Playing hard ball means they may in fact rate him despite not playing him.

If they rate him he might actually be ok. If we think he is ok and we want him I guess we need to pay up given he is contracted.

This gets done. You don't hold depth players who want out who aren't likely to get a game next season.

Hogan, Cadman and Ricardi are all options ahead of him already playing. Max Gruzewski got a few games this year too.

No we go after the player who wants to come to us and is best suited to our needs. That's Derksen.

The Giants recruited Wade Derksen in the 2022 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft so he’s been at the club for 2½ seasons without gaining senior selection. If they think he’s so precious then fine, keep him but really, is there much point?

They're into Jake Stringer aren't they? Maybe they're waiting for that to happen before letting WD go.

If we sign him, he needs #40 too, give Taj an upgrade

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
