We need some no nonsense level headedness that comes from experience in the industry particular as a player. The last Demon President who played for the club did alright.

If we had a chance to vote for no-confidence in the leadership of the club there’s no way they’d survive.

It’s Time for Gazza!

While he’s at it, he can also pick our next coach. What could go wrong?

Just No, with great respect to him as a Melbourne footballer and ex captain, and has shown the ability to learn across the journey, (his mea culpa on Racism was fantastic) but he doesn't have the EQ to lead the club. President  is an OK job when things are good, but you need to have savant level EQ intelligence for when stuff is bad.

Bit early to start drinking, and what experience has he had overseeing a business.

Sweet Jesus. The guy that gave us Neeld? Chicken Licken himself would be embarrassed by some of the reactionary nonsense being posted on these threads right now.

I think Lyon is more value to us as an ally in the media.

We need someone who demonstrates strong leadership, is a genuine cultural leader and has strong experience with corporate governance.

The biggest problem is a lack of reasonable candidates.

Hamish Blake OAM, would make more sense, we are a comedy worthy of Black Adder. Has a gold logie and is not a lawyer (no offence).

"Grumpy" Garry Lyon  is better in the media. He at least puts his "Melbourne cap" on occasionally.

I still remember Garry being annoyed and grumpy when I was a young lad at a Melbourne Demons family day and my Dad asked him to sign the back of my Demons guernsey I had on way back in the 1990s. David Schwarz and David Neitz on the other hand were always friendly.

Garry has said himself he isn't interested in being MFC President (at least for the time being). Plus he admits himself that he isn't a people person.

He helped his great mate Jimmy Stynes when he could during Jimmy's cancer battle. Unfortunately, Garry made an error of judgement choosing Mark Neeld. Hard to come back from that embarrassing failure. It really left egg on his face.

Even Kevin Sheedy poked fun at Garry Lyon for that decision on the Footy Show once (although I think Kevin Sheedy was still annoyed he missed out on the Demons coaching job way back in 2007).

Anyway, let Garry Lyon continue to be an ally for the Demons in the media.

If we're going to get former Demons players to consider joining the Melbourne Demons Board. Let's look at those with actual business acumen like Andrew Leoncelli (who was formerly on the Board), Anthony McDonald, Paul Hopgood, Glenn Lovett, David Neitz and Greg Healy (who was also a former Board member). Whether any of them are interested or have the time is another question altogether.

In the end, I only want extremely passionate and capable Melbourne supporters with both honesty and integrity on the Board. Football knowledge is beneficial but it shouldn't be compulsory.

I think it's safe to take this name off the list at least. Appointed last year as the global managing director of dentsu's sports analytics business out of New York.

Vote 1: Mach 5!

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
