Ok hear me out.

Dusty to me looks like he has lost a bit of passion at a club that is changing direction and destroyed by injury.

Could we get him across and a 1 year contract with a clause for a second or something.  Petracca showed us how valuable he is up forward on the weekend and this could allow him to spend more time fwd and Dusty a small amount of time in the midfield.  That's a scary 1-2 punch for any opposition, imagine dusty finally goes into the midfield and then you have to match up on Petracca when he comes forward for 5-10min.

Bit of out there thinking but surely he would be more valuable to us that a Gold Coast

he’d want more than a 1yr deal

he is far past his best and will ride the GC gravy train

Yeh, maybe a 2 yr deal then.  He just looks like someone that is sick of getting flogged.  Just more value in coming to a side like us than an average side like GC

Or maybe he’s won 3 premierships and the fire no longer burns

He's been an absolute gun over the journey but I genuinely feel as though his heart isn't in it anymore.

Champion player but he would be like placing used tyres on a new car. No thanks.

His connections would be Mark Williams and Andrew McQualter.

He's 33 in a couple of weeks.

I'm not sure he wants to be there, club is keen for him to get to the 300 apparently.

I reckon he'll go at the end of the year.

Champion player who has achieved all you can in the game. Seems to lack that drive/hunger that drove him to be the player he was but is no longer.

Should retire as a one-club player and Tiger legend.

Sorry.. he's (Dusty) better off at GC

Saints rumoured to have made a $1.5m per year offer for Weitering

Should have been the Dogs after trading JUH

Gotta love them Edia! Sam a credit to his people.

'Set to become' in actual English conveys a virtual certainty. In Edian, it means, 'I had this thought bubble and the clubs haven't denied it'. 😄

At this stage I'd be betting he plays 300 and calls it a day and rides off in to the sunset rather than plays on for 1 more year at the Suns or anywhere else.

If he was clear that he lost his appetite for success at Richmond and was set to have a huge preseason then I'd be keen to at least talk to him but to me he's just had enough.

I'd pay that for Weitering.

Was ready to add another no meme, but sure, why not? Thinking of Paul Chapman to Essendon: relieved of midfield duties and kicked 20 or so at his new club as a half-forward (Dusty seems a fraction fitter). It's better than our small-fry contribution and Martin is a calibre above, if he wants to come for a couple years on a reasonable contract, which is doubtful. But the combination with Trac is tempting even on a bigger budget while we're in our window. Also look at Isaac Smith to Geelong, who walked away with a Norm Smith.

Is Yze the mole?

A Malthouse to Carlton scenario, you reckon?

Or Neeld to Melbourne?

As for Martin, I'd argue that our list needs are of the meat and three veg healthy core rather than premium chocolates.

Sigh. In a fantasy world if I could steal a rival veteran who might be jack of it at their current club, I'd be looking at the St Kilda Captain.

Can you imagine Steele and Viney going in side by side, denying all opponents even a moment of comfort and each doing 120% of the workload of a normal person. The opposition could field a Balrog and still would not be able to pass.

I guess that brings me back to the Martin point - we have many young players who are capable of dynamic things but who are still developing the maturity needed for the relentless grind and the composure needed to halt runs of goals. What we need most of all is the reliable core of maturity who can enable those younger guys to really explore their abilities without too much anxiety over inevitable mistakes.

Steele is very limited I reckon

If it was Pendlebury I would be more certain of a success and value for money either in the centre on the ball or half forward or back. Get him as a Coach at the same time for 2 years like Hodge and Mitchell.

Martin can’t hit up a teammate with a pass anymore.
I was watching him last Saturday night. At 300 he should retire as a Tiger

Not that limited - has held up the Sydney Harbor Bridge for 90 years.

Assuming he's fairdinkum - he'd be better off at Norf for two years. Lots of upside for both I would have thought.

I wish I was as sure of Melbourne winning the flag in 2024 as I am that Pendlebury will retire at year's end.

He's just about cooked, albeit not to the same extent as Sidebottom who has clearly played one year too many.
