Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

NON-MFC: Round 04

There should be more leeway given by the umpires when the ball is dead. No one wants double goals for "dissent", or htb frees reversed because of diving players (Rozee). We want more holding the ball frees and less of these types of inconsequential acts resulting in game-deciding umpiring decisions.

Awful, bloody awful punch out by Jackson back towards centre half forward for Carlton to  get the hacked touched kick away. Should have gone for the boundary side. Horrible game by him.

Unfortunately he learnt that stupid move from Max who does it at the wrong times too.

Let’s just say the umpires don’t see that, fine. What the actual [censored] was that free right in front of goal for dissent? Since when do you get another free right in front of goal? Get absolutely [censored]

I’m not sure of the rule but IMO the dissent free kick should’ve taken place in the centre square.

Jackson had a poor game IMO. Couldn’t hold his grabs.

Freo were still up by 8 or 10 points with 3 mins to go but an unpaid mark at half forward for Freo (which should have been paid) goes down the other end and Carlton score. Game on from that point and momentum is huge in modern footy.

The whole of umpiring needs reviewing and I think as a code we need to look at better options as it’s ridiculous how small little decisions unfortunately do affect a whole game when the comp is so so even and tight.

Also Cotterill was allowed to play on from a free and goal when Freo players stopped and then with a few minutes to go and Dockers up, they got a free, played on to the wing and ready to go in and score and umpire brought it back. Carlton then got dodgy decision and win it.

Game turning decision.

I must be on my own on this forum as there’s plenty of other posters who don’t rate Carlton.

I seriously rate Carlton and have them in the current top 3 seedings.

They have every position covered with star material all over the place. It starts with their “Steve May” (Weitering) down back and ends with the two best key fwds in the league.

Unfortunately they also showed that they could handle the big MCG finals moments which will hold them in good stead in September.

(Hope I’m wrong and they cop a loss today)

Did they really handle finals last year? Yes they beat us but could we have tried any harder to keep them in the game. It was one of the most dominant losses I’ve seen

Look it would be very interesting to know what was said/thought was said. If it was also an expulsion of frustration rather than a direct attack there needs to be some leeway. In such a tight contest the last thing you want is a soft decision ending the contest.

Bring in the Captain’s challenge. Cottrell’s mark would’ve never stood.

That would be huge if they did bring that in. One decision a match, get it right you retain it, get it wrong and you lose it.

Shame the Blues won. Somewhat ironic that it was based on a 'mark' when the ball was touched, but overlooked. The opposite of that match v Demons where the ball wasn't touched (Marchbank) but was determined that it was.

I don't like the Dishlickers, but I hate Jee-long much more.

Carlton are once again becoming a team to hate

Always disliked them, but they really are insufferable when they get up and about.

If Voss is smart he will be telling the players to enjoy the win, but know that they got away with one there.

Jordon is playing fairly average for the Swans. Not sure if he is a role player but his stats and influence seem minimal.

The worry of losing him after Gus retired was overstated. Even with no Mills, Adams and Parker, he still didn’t play much midfield time

I'm still laughing reading all the angry things the bummers fans have written online.

Also how funny was it when stringer had the ball on the boundary line & played on while over the boundary line.

Mindless footballer.

You have to be careful when you get near to 60 yo; so many things from the past look better than they actually were. This even applies to footy, because there are a lot of small things in modern footy that simply give me the jimmy-brits. The clash jumper idea (which has some merit) has gone too far.

What the .... are Fremantle wearing? How does purple with a white stripe clash with a navy blue jumper so dark it is almost black? Just wear your jumper, and if there is an obvious clash between you and an opponent, the away team wear your white clash jumper.

Why did they get rid of their first jumper - the one they wore when they first entered the comp?

He's an honest plodder is JJ. I remember someone on here predicted he was the next Pendleberry (or someone similar). I almost choked on my Cornies that morning.

Umpires, like players, make mistakes because they are subject to human fallibility.

In cricket, for example, the number of lbw decisions overturned on review shows that many such rulings in the pre-camera era must have been wrong.

While every effort should be made to improve umpiring standards, I would rather live with the risk of error than have constant stoppages for video officials to pore over multiple replays of on-field incidents.

Umpiring a fast-paced game in which physical aggression is the norm is not a gig for the faint-hearted.

In the end, bad decisions usually even out over the course of a season.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
