Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Conor McKenna has just told Brisbane that he wants to go home again because the Guinness here doesn't taste the same (true) and the last food parcel from home went missing in transit so he's run out of Barry's Tea.

Pick #10 and McAdam is not a good trade for Petty anyway. Sure Harry McKay and Dangerfield were Pick #10s, but so were Zach Reid, Lochie O'Brien, Cockatoo, Freeman, Sumner and Gorringe.

Petty is a very good player on a good contract (from MFC's point of view). We should hold him unless they pay a king's ransom

I don't think I've come across any other professional sport where so many players are homesick for places that are an hour or so away by air or a few hours by road with exactly the same culture, food and language.

I agree completely with the general point, but in this case aren't we talking about Wudinna? Where the Petty family make up 2% of the population!

if a player makes a decision based on more money it’s not a go home factor issue and that’s fine.

If they make a career defining decision due to a city being busy with traffic or too hectic well that’s pretty astounding.

If i got paid big money to live away with a new ‘family’ of 45 mates to play footy i’d think i’m the luckiest bloke in the world.

If a player could be paid 200k more, and also move closer to home, and to a city they feel more comfortable in, it would be mentally unhinged not to do so.

If that's the situation, then every additional day Petty stays with us is a beautiful gift that we should appreciate as Petty putting the club before himself.

And some people are questioning his grasp of loyalty. Gross.

mentally unhinged? many players choose loyalty, mateship, chance of success etc over extra money and or going home. clubs have to offer overs to tempt players away  Kozzi or Rivers would get offered well over 200k to go home but they are part of something.

lets just say every situation is different hey?

Was getting worried to see this thread with a high post count today. Had a huge sigh of relief when it's all come from Kornes.

This guy will advise us to move him on this year then have a crack at us next year for poor list management when we have no key position depth. If he moved, he will then claim it as further evidence of poor club culture. Guy is a click bait parasite.

Go home factor is a furphy that is used by players as an excuse. Tim Kelly wanted to go home, just as long as it was to WC for example. And how many players go home for less money? Not many I reckon.

Schulz wants to go home, but only to Collingwood 🙄

I'd play for Melbourne for less money.

Whether it’s overpaid by the Crows or not, for the Dees to even consider it, requires a replacement of Fogarty or Thilthorpe, 10 and McAdam thrown in.

Crows want Petty and we want to keep him, so it takes a buster offer. You could even ask for another late pick for Fullarton as an ambit claim.

However looking like Petty stays.

Adelaide can simply just GTFO.

Pick 14, which will become something like 18 once bids are taken into account + McAdam.

Minimum would need to be 14 + McAdam + Fogarty/Thilthorpe to replace the known quality that is Petty.

Crows persistence indicates they really want him, yet they’re trying to give virtually nothing for him. I wouldn’t even speak to them again for the remainder of the trade period, McAdam be damned.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
