Harrison Petty

Cornes compared the Dunkley situation to Petty. There's a few differences that don't make it totally comparable -

- Dunkley was in the last year of his contract; Petty has two years left

- Dunkley was 25, Petty is 23 - Dunkley being more at the peak of his career than Petty is

- Petty is more important to Melbourne (as a potential key forward) than Dunkley was to the Bulldogs (who have numerous midfielders)

The dialogue coming out of Adelaide sounds like it's being run by a 12 year old kid.

Kane Cornes?

Not publicly, but he doesn't have too, many players have been traded without even requesting a trade publicly. See Grundy and Steven May.

The fact that Goodwin has had to sit down with him and convince him to stay, suggests that he has had serious consideration of going home as well as Adelaide's offer.

There's enough smoke there.

Smoke indicating a fire is burning, or the smell of smoke still lingering after the fire has been extinguished?

Love Harry but If the Crows offered 10,20 and McAdam for Petty you would have to seriously think about it.

Need to have a forward coming back our way, they can't have their cake and eat it too.

How is this an opportunity of a lifetime? All Crows have offered so far is pick 14 and a player who doesn’t wanna be there.
Offer us a replacement forward and pick 10 then we can think about this so called opportunity of a lifetime.

Corn thinks it is a good idea..... haha yep we'll just give up a need becuase Corn says so....

This trade shouldn't go ahead unless we get two top end picks. Guy is 22 and KPF. If he walks in 2 years so be it, but pay up or shove off.

kornes is just about generating content

connors was right in his assessment a month or so ago; there's little movement this year as a) clubs are reasonably happy with where their list builds are at, and 2) the cba uncertainty has stymied movement

Maybe I'm the only one that can actually see where Cornes is coming from?

All he's saying is that that now would be the perfect opportunity to cash in with the Crows instead of end of 2025 when they will be deep in finals contention and not have the luxury of having the early first round picks as they do now.

At the end of the day it only works if Petty advises Melbourne that he wants to go home and the Dees think that the Crows early picks are a suitable trade. That hasn't happened and the club has stated that Petty won't be traded, so all good.

It's amazing how some just see the name Kane Cornes and get triggered so easily.. 😅

What about Port Adelaide who are in dire need of a backline rebuild?

Perhaps he doesn’t want to bring the focus onto the club where ine of their players  in Butters is a Victorian.

Right now I’d do Pick 11 + Petty for Butters.

Petty has two years to run on his contract and has not said he wants to leave.

If we do this trade we are essentially saying we don't think we can win the flag anymore, that is how important Petty is to our team structure.

Our key position depth is already weak, moving him on would be disastrous for that.

i understand where kornes is saying that 'his value will never be higher'

but he's only looking at it from a trade perspective not from a team structure perspective

he's so blinded by the need for MOAR CONTENT that he's missing the bigger picture, which is that with petty we're closer to a premiership than without him in our best 23

That's pretty complicated then it looks

Port have the right to potentially ask for more. I mean Butters is a genuine superstar in my opinion and I'd absolutely love him. I'd happily do that deal but I think Port would want more.

Well yeah.. that's why I said he hasn't stated to the footy club that he wants to leave....

Pretty well said, sometimes Cornes just says somethings at times for the sake of it but he is right here if a deal is in Melbournes favour then yes if not no it's pretty simple.

Couple of update questions:

1. What is Adelaide Football Club itself - not any media speculators or opinionators - currently saying?

2. How's Harry's hoof?

But the deal is NOT in Melbourne’s favour that’s the point

We can’t win a flag next year without Petty unless we replace him with another ready made forward. So why then would we do this deal when Petty has not asked for a trade and has two years left on his contract?

Every chance he’s worth more next year and we don’t have a top 6 pick in hand.

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
