Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

The lack of discipline and organisation was terrible. Frees against when kicking for goal or the game had stopped, 50m penalties, and four times we had no ruck in the forward stoppages. Players slipping in the centre square.

Langdon had two terrible finals and looks a D grader.

Salem has no drive and power. Finished.

Jordon was hopeless.

Sparrow fumbled too often.

Fritsch’s misses cost us in both finals.

Our set ups and centre clearance were ineffective and we didn’t defend well one on one.

That’s four finals losses with more shots at goal.

Woewodin to the wing next year.

Why Tomlinson hasn’t played 18-19 games this year is flat out beyond me. Just mind boggling selection all year

Because he stank every time he didn’t have a match up and he was fairly stinky in patches tonight giving goals to TDK.

The coaches went horses for courses down back all year and managed the best they could, still didn’t have enough run or skill tonight. Lever’s intercepting dropped off after a hot start and we needed more bounce from the backline.

A pathetic and insipid ending. You can't kick 9.17 and expect to win too many games of footy, let alone finals.

I know we were cobbling together a forwardline minus Petty, Melksham and JVR, but we had more than enough chances to win the game, and botched them.

I also felt our A grade midfielders didn't influence the games enough, when we desperately need them to boss games.

The mantra leading into the finals campaign was win the big moments. We constantly [censored] the bed in pivotel moments.

Shattered by two chokes in two weeks.

Nothing more at this time, but numb is a good word for it.

Shelve the “we have the best list” talk.

It’s not even close.

We have as good a crop of elite talent as anyone. But we have so, so many holes on our list.

Langdon, Salem, Hunter and McDonald are all so far below their previous best form, for various reasons.

Sparrow, Jordon, Spargo, Chandler, ANB and Smith all bring their own assets to the table but are all limited footballers in their own various ways.

Schache’s depth, sure, but hardly any good.

We have far too many poor kicks. We have far too many players who cannot or will not work out how to improve problems they’ve had for years.

Always the smart alec, I’m sure you like it when they lose so you can prove you point

I've been posting about it for the last two full seasons. Just because I don't come in here to gush over every win, doesn't mean I don't celebrate them.

It's been clear since last year that we need significant personnel changes across the field and we need a more significantly altered game-plan.

Goodwin is a master of staying true to what he 'believes in'. And he's been believing for too long, ignoring all warning signs and trends that we've all witnessed for so long.

Struggling to score, struggling to hit targets, struggling to kill games when they should be killed. We are a bottom four side when going inside 50. Do people realise how broken that is? And don't give me this 'repeat entry' bulltish. We have more than enough opportunity for players to hit targets. We just don't take them both because of instruction and limitations across our players who all share the same weakness.

This is both personnel and gameplan and Goodwin hasn't done anywhere near enough to fix it.

The coaching group needs to be reshuffled, Goodwin again needs to be challenged by some outside thinking. We need to refresh this list, move on some players who are simply not cutting it for us in certain positions, bring in youth and bring in a better blend of players so that we can actually use the ball going forward.

Still think we've had the best list for the last four years straight. TMac a significant weakspot, and Jordon not quite up to it, but our topliners are unmatched. Steven May incredible tonight against the best forward in the comp.

You have good judgment. Likewise, I agree, however, I just believe we by far and away 10 miles to none have the best list. We fluked the 2021 flag, and now we pay he price. Our coach lacks discipline. Our players are ineffective. This Is a whole other convo, but, if Goodwin remains, then certain players are going to waste. That being said, I speak of discipline. As a club, we really do need to be led correctly. We were partially sidelined by Paul Roos endorsing Goodwin, primarily because Roos believed Goodwin was best suited to carry on Roos vision. Big mistake. I believe it is. I really don’t know why we appointed the bloke, and Roos aside, we wouldn’t have.

Also I know we want to soften the blow but I don’t buy the “Brisbane would have killed us next week” stuff.

If we held on tonight, got the monkey off the back, and then got to get on a plane and galvanise as a unit against a side we hate, but match up well against, and who is the only other side in it who has anything like the pressure that we have, I genuinely would have backed us in.

Straight Sets Simon has wasted yet another year through poor list management and team selection.

Schache the sub and wasn’t even used, while we had ruck contests with no one going up and Grundy in the stands.

Gawn totally exposed their backline with his marking when he was forward, we could have had a lot more of that with Grundy in the team.

This is the least surprising result, lost at team selection yet again.

Well said. What was it 5? weeks ago Max got double teamed by these two and we lost. This time we leave another All Australia in the stands and go in short as and then play Schache as the sun. Beggars belief.

Then Max did mark finally in the third he carries on and goes back and misses a sitter. Love the guy but it was embarrassing

Brisbane played a team last week who can’t defend, we’d have done better than the Blues next week like us in 2018 mentally and physically they will be drained but we shot ourselves in the foot

It was actually a very messy game I reckon. Riddled with mistakes, which of course we ultimately turned into some kind of choke art form. But being as poor as you say and still being better than Carlton, apart from kicking for goal obviously, makes it something even worse. I found the whole thing pretty horrible to watch. Brisbane will be licking their lips, and would’ve had we won too.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
