Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There was plenty of noise about our non goal but last night's is farcical and disgraceful.

I'm almost at the point where I'm losing interest in our great game due to officiating.

Credit to Nicks and Adelaide's response which has been first class. They are probably fuming internally.

They are, actually asking for compensation from the AFL.

3 umpires were on the spot when Cameron got that handball over the boundary line and all just watched.

Mistakes happen.

Players make them all the time.

My 6 year old grandson wouldn’t miss from 10 metres out straight in front, but professional footballers do.

3 umpires missing that isn’t a mistake, it’s incompetence. It’s possibly an issue with the way they are taught. It seems this year the theme is becoming don’t call anything. They all seem scared to make decisions.

As a former boundary umpire in the Southern Football League, it is unimaginable to me that boundary umpires in perfect position tangent to the boundary line neglected to make calls like that (and the Viney one yesterday). If ball over line, blow whistle - immediate and instinctive. It's not like field umpiring where there's pressure from crowds and players and decisions may be complex and subjective (e.g. holding the ball, etc.). In the Viney case I can only assume that the boundary umpire interpreted the play as warranting a HTB free against Viney before the ball crossed the line, thus holding off on the whistle. Huge error if so, the field umpire relies on the prompt boundary umpire's whistle as a signal that the ball is out of play - that then informs their adjudication of any free kicks. Terrible error.

Eagles took the first step in changing their culture yesterday. Harley Reid trophy be damned. wins more important. If they can get a proper s&c program and performance manager in place, get recruitment right they'll be on their way. My bet is they will rise up the ladder quicker than North.

I looked at Marcus Bontempelli, the Western Bulldogs total, and the % that works out to.

In short, Bontempelli was one tenth of the Bulldogs team, for every on-field action except marks, rebound 50s and hit-outs.

Contested ball, loose ball, pressure acts, tackles, spoils, score involvements, goals, metres gained, clearances... everything.

I'm not sure I've ever seen an individual having to carry a team to this extent.

Who knows?

But one thing I think I can say is there has been absolutely no evidence of any AFL team tanking this year. Yes, some poor performances, some unlucky losses, poor umpiring decisions heading to unlucky losses.... So can everyone get over the suggestion of a draft lottery to fix a non-existent ptoblem. The fact they have this in the NBA is not a recommendation, in fact the opposite.

He should leave The Bulldogs. They will not be successful for years now. For some reason the Media rates their list so high even after the 2021 GF, it’s just not correct

Bontempelli is wasted there

From Titus' knee jerk reactions:

"Now they get Damien Hardwick who has to fix the mess that is the Gold Coast Suns.

He did fix Richmond, so he’s a chance, but he had Brendon Gale and Peggy O’Neal there and that Dustin Martin guy.

Sometimes I think Hardwick left Richmond in a hurry because he knew he had this job sown up and wanted a holiday in between, but that’s just silly. "

From the reader comments:

"I think you’re wrong about Damian Hardwick - after all he didn’t need a break between Mrs Hardwick and the marketing chick."

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. The Dees take on the Blues and have the opportunity to win their third game on the trot to solidify a spot in the Top 4 in addition to handing the Blues their third consecutive defeat to bundle them out of the Top 8.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
