Sick it up Crows fans.

I recall a dob act not paid a couple of years ago.

Karma's a ditchย

Gee poor Jack Ziebell. In hospital because some boofheads thought they'd be tough & push him onto the road then punched him in the face then kicked him.

Horrific. Will likely need facial surgery.ย

Not how you wanted to celebrate your final gameย

What happened? I cant remember back that far. I know Fitzroy had a decent side and almost made into a Granny.

I leased factory space behind Sunglass Hut on Chapel st in the 90's.ย  Ok during the day but a no go strip at night. Alot of fights behind Chapel after midnight including hit and runs and some bashing/knife deaths. Cops didnt like going there and double parking.ย  Loads of drunk drivers on a relatively narrow street. Its also on the yarra giving crims quick acess to the North.

Longmire said Papley had tightness in his hamstring. Lets hope it keeps him out next week.

If the Swans are guaranteed to make finals (with a Dogs loss next week) then youโ€™d imagine theyโ€™d rest Papley for our game.

If Bulldogs win, and Sydney need to win to make certain of finals, then they might risk him.

Then again, if heโ€™s torn his hammy heโ€™ll obviously miss next week and heโ€™ll more than a handy out.

Nevermind Adelaide - one of either the Western Bulldogs or GWS will miss out on finals because Sydney was given a win in a clear error that didn't even follow basic procedure.

But they did follow procedure.

Goal Umpire was certain it touched post and therefore he didnโ€™t request review.

That is the current procedure.

Itโ€™s a mistake, not a breach of procedure.

after watching the Swans fade out last night gives me confidence for next week. We are in better condition than them and will be favourites to beat them.

Yes a mistakeย  but a shocking oneย  ย must change procedure/ย  Imagine a grand final being decided by thatย  ย ย

It's ironical that points aren't reviewed in the same way that goals are before play recommences. Understandable of course given the lack of time after a point is awarded before play resumes compared to a centre bounce.ย  But both goals reviewed into points and points into goals can decide a match.ย ย  Perhaps that's an argument to review nothing and go with umps' call.ย

Maybe it would be cheaper to employ 4 goal umpires than get reliable technology.ย ย ย  4 goal umps, one at each gaol post would be in a good position except for deciding whether a ball is out of bounds or a point.ย  The boundary umps can help decide that as they do now.ย  Don't ask me what to do if the 2 goal umps disagree!

Game in Adelaide where the Crows got 4 free kicks in the last 2 minutes, including the winning kick and stole the game from the Roy boys.ย

Memorable for Peter McKenna's commentary as much as anything else. This is Murder!ย  Absolute Murder!

Makes yesterdays controversial end highly justified.ย  Karma!

What were those umpires thinking?

Peter McKenna didnt hold back his disgust unlike the corporate cowards in todaysย  commentary box.

Gerald Healy is the worst of them. AFL apologist start to finish.

Actually a mistake that us sitting at home watching replays can pick up.

Now letโ€™s put ourselves in that goal umpireโ€™s position.

One minute to go, deafening noise as the ball approaches the goals, 2-3 desperate Swans players jumping for the ball, obscuring his view of the ball, while he must keep back out of their way. All this happening quickly. He hears a sound of post being hit, it was a Swans playerโ€™s hand, that he wouldnโ€™t see, then sees the ball spinning as though it hit the post. Another Swan yelling at him and pointing to the post and he makes a very innocent mistake.

This is certainly not the first such mistake made by an official. Look at that ridiculous penalty to Sweden against the Matildas. Even with replays VAR.ย

Last weekโ€™s soft call was another mistake which has cost us probably 2nd place.

Itโ€™s up to the AFL to improve officiating wherever possible.

They havenโ€™t even got a GM of Footy yet nearly 2 years after Scott left and Gil is still hanging around like a bad smell, even though his successor has been appointed.

Looks like the ball hit the post from that pic youโ€™ve provided.

I agree, in that top image there is no clear evidence that the ball misses the post.ย

There is clear air between ball and post in the second front on image, but there is no clear air in the image from the side where the ball is behind the post.ย  If you zoom in there is yellow pixelation all the way to the post.

The goal umpire should absolutely have called for a review given the state of the game and the closeness of the call, but if those two pictures were the evidence then I could not have over-turned his call.

That goal umpire needs to go to Specsavers. Regardless of any "sounds" you can't miss the huge gap between the ball and the post.

As it has been pointed out before, goal umpires should be instructed that if they have any reasonable doubt it is a must to call for ARC review.

Jesus that was horrendous, 2 ducks, a push in the back that wasnโ€™t there and the last was the worst of the lot..ย

I think itโ€™s a good example of an AFL rule thats unnecessarily complicated. If the ball goes between the posts itโ€™s a goal. Simples. Removes the guesswork.ย

What would you rather.

1 -- Swans have to win to play finals

2---Swans have to win for a home final

3---Swan free hit game does not matter

Agree with all of that, but, and Iโ€™m probably wrong, I thought all goals were reviewed before the centre bounce to restart play took placeโ€ฆ in which case, how could that not have been picked up? It beggars belief!

Because it was called a behind, as a result it doesn't get reviewed.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
