Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

The Crows are a good young side with a lot of raw talent, capable of turning it on and especially when their season is on the line. No shame in a tight win, a lot better than a close loss.

Totally agree. They pushed us right to the end.

Crows picked through our zone with ease at times and seemed to match us in the contest (particularly centre contests) although I haven't seen the stats. They're a decent side and have Burgess who would be priming them for this time if year so no surprise they came home strong. Don't forget the Pies only just got past them, twice. Having said that if it wasn't for Rankine we probably would have put them away before half time.

I thought JJ needed to be better, it doesn't feel like he's really grabbed the opportunity having Oliver out has been. He's been ok without being outstanding. When Oliver returns I think JJ is first dropped. Woewodin has been ok for a first year player but I don't think he'll stay in the seniors much longer either. Hibberd should return nd help out backline with some leg speed.

I thought there were times when our zone was perfect and they cut us with some really good skill.

Very good side in the making.

Don't know if anyone else in this thread has mentioned it, but we had one single tackle inside our forward 50. Not good.

So did Collingwood last night 🤷‍♂️

Not unimpressive but nevertheless, a bit meh.  Would have been a shock if we'd actually lost

We've got a hole at CHF that needs to be filled ... but if Grundy comes in and Brown goes out I'm still not filled with confidence

But otherwise, our overall game was reasonable good but not excellent.  To be honest, I don't know what to make of it when considering upcoming QF's and the like

We've qualified for a decent finals spot as such (as the buffer protects us) but the issue remains with the forward line connection being a complex one with no easy answer

We are certainly in the mix with our W/L ratio

In the end, happy to get the win

That was by far the worst game I’ve ever seen Steven May play. He was completely out of sorts. Couldn’t take a mark, spoiled his teammates, constantly out positioned, kick outs horrible, field kicking awful… nothing went well for him

He’s often a bit more ‘shouty at others’ when is having a poor game…

Hard to explain that one.

We had 17 marks inside 50 and they cut off quite a few with O'Brien and co so it wasn't really a ground ball in 50 kind of game for us. Still would have expected more than 1 tackle I50.

Just got back from the game.

A couple of brain fades brought them back into it:

1. Kick in to the two on one

2. When we had the ball locked in our forward pocket and ill-discipline lead to a 50 and a loss of momentum.

Strong argument that it was the lesser lights that kept us in it. Chandler obviously but Smith was good as was Taj. Felt Trac had a stinker. No idea what his numbers were, but there's times when they don't give the full story.

Currently we do not have a forward line that will win a flag this year. I expect us to bow out in the preliminary round. Only injuries to the pies and port teams will get us into the GF.

Let me guess: "happy to be wrong"?

Not enough is being made of the fact that we have been without arguably the best player in the competition for close to 3 months now. Oh and missing our best forward and one of the best medium forwards in the competition.

We just do not appreciate what a loss Oliver is. That we’ve managed to beat 2 top 4 teams without him is bloody excellent.

Very few sides would cover this type of loss for as long as we have.

That logic can be used both ways

Of course it can. But you're refusing to acknowledge one of those ways.

Just losing to Collingwood was their best, not their worst. Today was close to their best.

What was the initial free for in the pocket? I had no idea at the ground.  He also didn’t give melksham much time to get on the mark. Considering we could have had a few 50s go our way they chose not to pay.  Dubious umpiring with that one I thought. Get it out of our forward line and open the game back up for them.

And the fact that we lack polish isn’t a surprise.

14.13 is good production from about 50 entries.

Again, the worry internally will be ‘The Slice through the Press’ but I hope it isn’t. Move the footy better and with purpose - which we saw a bit of today after 2 quarters last week. If you can do a suffocating press once against the best (KB) that’s enough for muscle memory and belief. Just celebrate having 27 scoring shots and kicking 13 goals is where I would go - can we do more of that?

Trac had 26 disposals and Taj 7.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
