I don't like our run home. If we are not switched I can one or more of these sides causing an upset. That said we should win all six.

The next six gives us time to get a lot right if we are to challenge in finals.

Adelaide seem to play a less skilled version of the Collingwood gameplan so that will be a good place to start

Ideally we need the Cats to lose one more. Having them 1.5 games behind us is a little worrying especially if we drop a game

Chandler needs to play forward of ball as a pressure forward IMO. If Kozzy is playing higher, which I think is potentially less likely in a final, we need Chandler's pressure. Probably at the expense of Spargo.

I think our forwardline mix against Brisbane was off. Great offensively, but too vulnerable on counter, hence the 4 of 5 goals from defensive half chains in the 3rd quarter for the Lions.

Chandler has a bit more physical pressure in tight, but Spargo is one of if not our most organised in getting the zone set. They bring different attributes defensively.

We won’t get much from BBB and Melk, but I wonder how much defensive cohesion can improve as those guys as well as Tracc, Sparrow and Woey settle in together

We’re also one paced in the middle with Gus and JJ both full time mids. We miss Clarry’s defensive speed.

Gawn in post lions interview, was pretty adamant that the Gawndy experiment is going to continue.

If it does , it's evident Max has to ruck most of the game. Is it possible for Grundy to play in defence instead of fwd?

We could swing Petty fwd?

Just wondering since Brodie is not a great mark.

Anyone know of the best way to watch in Singapore? Assuming I won't be able to get out to watch it.

I have Foxtel but guessing the app won't work there.

You can try using a VPN or take out a Watch AFL subscription for either a week or a month depending on how long you are going to be away for.

Used to be (circa mid-2010s) and google tells me there still is, an Aussie bar called Boomerang Bistro. Eating there is probably a waste of your calorie intake given everything else you can eat in Singas but will have the footy on.

My take on team selection:

Petty out for Tomlinson, surely has a week off at least after getting subbed twice with injury. Would expect given past experience that Petty comes back in when fit (hopefully not before).

Spargo v Chandler - can see this going each way, you’d think on pure form Chandler gets a go (good vfl praccy apparently, Spargo not doing much) but Spargo is clearly marked best 22 so I can see them giving him another week or two to get back into form.

McVee/Rivers into mids, Bowey fwd? Don’t see any of these happening, I think the FD is pretty settled on the back half and won’t be moving the pieces around too much barring Hibberd coming back and someone making way.

Mids - one of Sparrow/Jordan will have to make way for Clarry at some point but probably not this week. Sparrow might become a permanent fwd and Spargo/Chin both miss when that happens. Jordan is vulnerable to going back to sub though given past history, they probably do that. Edit: Forgot my namesake- Taj might be the obvious miss and the other two stay, this got more complicated than I expected when I started..

Fwds - I think apart from the Spargo/Chin shootout the rest stays the same, bar Grundy maybe coming in for JVR (vulnerable due to still learning, BBB still ahead of him in smarts and impact imo). I don’t think all 3 fit in one fwd line or that we can go Gawndy without clogging the fwd 50 too much.

I thought Tommo was very stiff to get dropped (after KB game) as was Smith. On merit, ability and match - ups though I would like to see Smith as starting 22, with and I know it is unusual, Tommo as sub, our defence is our foundation, all of the unexpected losses have nearly always revolved around a key defender injury early in the game. We have plenty of flexibility in the midfield and with the forwards (while I would love a dominant KPF that is in the wishes/fishes category). But a settled back six with the big defenders in place makes us a fierce beast. Having a utility as sub who can't play that KD role hurts more than in other positions. So I think Smith has the right to some continuity, and I would love to have Tommo in the pocket. If needed Smith could go forward during the game and Tommo take the defence position Smith starts in.

Otherwise wouldn't mind Chandler over Spargo, I felt like Chin after a great start was trying to do much and should stick to his role which hopefully a spell has taught him. Spargo is confusing to me the difference between his best and worst regularly happens back to back within game.

If Hibberd right to play then he has a role with the smart Adelaide small forwards and I could live with Bowey going forward as an experiment in either the spargo/chin role.

Get Petty properly right FFS!

What on earth were they thinking they knew he was carrying that and they still put him in over a fully healthy player..why is that allowed to happen when players like Smith and Tomlinson are fit and healthy??  Genuinely want to know how that decision happens

The Dees had there mini slump by being 9 w 6 L . I did say prior to playing Brisbane we will not lose another match . We have Oliver , Fritta and a renewed and improved Grundy coming back.

Spargo for me, he has to go. Has been a liability for the past 2 weeks.

Gave them all the momentum when he coughed it up so easy in that 2nd quarter. After that, Brisbane went on a complete run on.

I thought that Spargo play was more about everything wrong with our forward line coaching. The tv view showed that entire end of the ground.  Spargo is our best inside 50 kick but can’t kick reliably over more than 35m. He has it 75m out, plays on quickly, and no Melbourne player is leading and everyone seems to be running toward a long kick to a pack 20m out.  Maybe he should have done that but it’s pretty ridiculous his only option beside dumping it long is a 45m pass over a brisbane players head to Langdon 50m out in the pocket.

Love Smith as sub.

So long as Milkshake stays in and doesn't get replaced by Fritsch even when he's fit I'll be happy, Milkshake has the x-factor and not many others have it.  Fritsch is great, but he just hasn't had that "fire" for ages now.

I just don't want to see Milkshake lose his spot no matter who else is fit and healthy he deserves to stay in as starter.

Yeah okay you lot have swung me. I like what Spargs brings to the table when in form, but at this point in time Chandler has more to offer in offence and defence.

Chandler needs to excel at Casey b4 he comes back in. He was poor his last 1/2 dozen games for us.

The side I probably see us going with in the finals, if we are at full strength:

B:          McVee          May                  Lever

HB:       Rivers           Petty                 Salem

C:          Hunter         Viney                 Langdon

HF:        Pickett         Van Rooyen      Neal-Bullen

F:          Melksham    Brown               Fritsch

R:          Gawn           Oliver                Petracca

I:           Sparrow       Bowey              Brayshaw            Chandler

S:         Smith

E:         Grundy         Hibbard            Tomlinson            Dunstan

I really rate Adelaide. They have a good list and are building nicely. They move the ball very quickly and have a plethora of excellent forwards.
They will come out breathing fire as they’re under the pump to win to keep their finals hopes alive.
They also have Burgess who knows a thing or two about us.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
