I know weโ€™re a limited side at present, but Iโ€™ve seen nothing in this kid to warrant a call up. I see glimpses of what he could be. But he isnโ€™t an AFL level player at present, IMO.ย

I'll back the Coaches etc. in this one KDA. Might be time for you to have a rest on selection etc. for a while the Club has it covered.ย

Good one. Well done Taj. It is good to see a bit of new blood come through.

ย

For all the doubters about our 2022 Woe's debut is the third from our VFL flag plus Chin's 15 games. He had a reasonable wait after his first 3 or 4 AFL games.ย

For those who have chronically undervalued our Casey Dees Flag in 2022 and the team efforts it's great credit to all the Coaches and the boys for all their training and playing and extra WA pre season work.

Rooy back this week to replace Fritta would be great.ย

Would be great to have JVR back in the team.ย

Means the 3 WA draftees from the 2021 draftees would be all playing at the same time.

Jason Taylor just keeps ticking them over ๐Ÿ‘

Yep 31 possessions and 3 goals last round is clear evidence of this. Deserves a call up and to test his readiness at AFL level.ย

From the little i have seen, he looks like he can hit a target - and, oh, how we need that!!

That's no go..... he won't fit in......

Great news and well deserved. I feel like he is one of those players who, while they might not become a champion, will just find a way to become a really good player at whatever level they are asked to play at.ย

Doubly so, because apparently he was a very good chance to be selected in round one before he broke his thumb.

That's three of the WA boys, JVR Mcvee and woey jnr, who all did some serious running work over their XMAS break back on Perth and have made the seniors.

Great reward for hard work.

The year woey snr won the Brownlow he was brilliant. In some ways he was ahead of his time- his run and carry and efficient ball use would fit perfectly into the best sides now.

All good points Rubbish Binny.

Woey Sr. was spotted during grand final week in '21, outside the ground peering through the fence, watching us train. He's a Dee through and through. My contact @Anti Saint had a chat to him and said he's still supremely fit.

So with our observations as background . . .

Can we start Woey Jr. in the centre and bring Woey Sr. on as the sub in the last to run the [censored] around the Aints?

Love the way even players who may be displaced by these announcements share in the celebrations. Happens every time.

On ya Woey!

Heโ€™s worked hard and developed really well.ย

He will give everything on Sat night, no doubt on that

Actually, woey's incredible fitness and running power was also ahead of its time.

We've been stale for a while so this is exactly what the team needs. some young blood. Hopefully he can find his feet quickly and contribute from the get-go.

Best of luck to the boy.

Anyone doubting this can refer to the 2021 GF post game footage in our rooms where Woey Sr is strutting around in his 2000 grand final guernsey, worn over a shirt no less! I can't fit into last year's attire, let alone what I wore 21 years ago.

Forgive my ignorance, but what role or position(s) has Woey been playing at Casey?ย

I haven't watched that many casey games, but I think he has predominantly played as a pure winger.

That was certainly his role when he came on against the saints in the preeason game (from memory, replacing langdon).

Really enjoyed his cameo against Richmond in the AFL practice match at Casey. Just looked like one of those players that looked comfortable at this level and like McVee should be able to hit the ground running.

Hopefully the boys will be energised and excited by a debutant as they're grinding through the months of June and July which are the hardest for motivation, so they say.

Woey senior was on the radio on SEN this morning.

Was askes the same question.

His answer:ย  in 2022 he was predominantly a winger, this year he's had more exposure inside and at half forward.

Jeez, I am sucker for the Father Son rule.ย

Next few years could see 3-4 added to our list.

Not claiming to be a Rhodes scholar when it comes to footy minutiae, but appears to play as as a member of the onball brigade at stoppages.ย  Young Taj can 'intelligently' get separation from his direct opponent which allows him time and space to assist his team mates in goal scoring chains or kick goals himself. Of course in the big league everything seems faster and the collisions more frequent.

Judging on last year's performances in the VFL, he has the requisite courage, took some big hits, including being infamously concussed in a dangerous actย  by former Casey player Lefau at Punt Rd. At Princess Park in the ultimate finale he was TMM the best of the young guns.

Good Luck young Taj Woewodin.

Itโ€™s one of the great parts of AFL club culture.ย

The big question isโ€ฆ.
Did Shaun Smith, Todd Viney and Shane Woewodin all play in the same team?ย

Yes they did. In fact this happened Woey Snr's first game:ย

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chancesโ€”plenty of themโ€”but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Portโ€™s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
