Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

They need to hit the scoreboard, no doubt, but the last two weeks, we're +24 for inside 50 tackles, so they are doing brilliant work defending and maintaining territory for us.

JJs problem is with the addition of Hunter, JJ can no longer fill in on a wing, which means when he's not playing midfield, he's basically on the bench, because he's not great at half forward.

Last word on this AF. I have done a bit more digging into the stats. I know that they can really tell you whatever you want them to but in the last 4 games we have laid 57 tackles in our forward 50. Of those 57 Chandler has laid 5 and Spargo 3.

For reference, in the same 4 games JVR laid 6 tackles, ANB 8 and Fristch 4.

Chandler's actually laid 8 in the last 4 games. But he had zero in the Carlton game.

Since then, he's stepped up and he's also had 4 shots on goal for 4 behinds. He needs to improve his accuracy, but if he kicks straight the last two games, we're talking about him very differently.

It's a game of margins and I'd prefer to back the work rate of Chandler, which is also helping our forward half IMO.

Yep. you are right.... 8 tackles inside 50 in the last four and a total of 17 tackles in the same period.

I like Chandler and think he has done well this season but I see him as out of form and I would prefer to see him gain form at Casey.

Who in the VFL list could provide those skills? Lawrey, Woewodin?

Yes and you could add Dunstan (great hands most of the time and pretty clean, kicking is a 50/50 proposition) Howes and of course Bowey

As I see it Alex Neal-Bullen is not playing well and may even be a momentum crusher. I would replace ANB with Harmes. Harmes can play a role, is a strong mark and is a good kick for goal.

BBB is no longer able to play at AFL level especially at crunch time of the season.

I see Chandler as an important link, he is just not kicking to goal as he should although he has shown that he can be accurate early in the season.

This could be proven correct.

However, prior to going out he was (and still is) our highest goal kicker on averages and has yet to be given another block of games to prove whether he still has it in him or not.

After being in the top two or three at Casey on Friday and playing out the entire game at a VG level, if he doesn't get picked this week then we may have seen the last of him at the highest level.

So who are you replacing him with? Keeping in mind, the modern game is a slingshot affair that requires blokes that can bring lots of pressure and get the job down at ground level.

Either Laurie or Jordon as I believe that we have to few rotations for the midfield.

This is the team I would put out against GWS.

B:     Bowey         May         Lever

HB:   Salem         Petty/Tomlinson        McVee

C:     Langdon     Viney       Hunter

HF:   ANB            Petty/Brown    Pickett

F:      Fritsch      Van Rooyen        Grundy

R:      Gawn      Petracca       Sparrow

Int:    Rivers       Laurie      Jordon     Brayshaw

Sub:  Melksham

I always thought Melksham was the perfect sub; but, for Casey last week I didn't see anything defensive from him. Despite his numbers I thought he was lazy and not what I would like to see in the firsts. For what it's worth I also thought Spargo looked frustrated and out of touch. Needs some time to regain composure.

You don't risk playing your good players into being out of form. That's what we are doing with Petty forward for marginal gains.

Set Petty to play CHB and forget. Like May at FB.

McVee    May.    Lever

Salem.    Petty.    Bowey

Langford  Viney.  Hunter

ANB.        JVR.      Picket

Fritsch.     BBB.     Chandler

Gawn Trac  Harmes

Brayshaw. Rivers  Sparrow  Grundy

Melksam/Smith

Midfield rotations is the key, with Trac, Viney to play forward as part of this. Rivers play midfield. Harmes is defensive mid.

Though If Dunstan is fit he plays instead of McVee and Rivers then goes to Greene

There is precisely 0% chance McVee is dropped.

Inns.. Clarrie (if fit), BBB, Bowser, Melksham

Outs..Chandler, Spargo, Hibbo, JVR ( managed)

Possibly Thommo in as well, Nibbler extremely lucky if he stays in

Re Spargo.

It is only an out in cases where you were in.

He was out against Geelong so, if he is out against GWS , he is not an out. However, if selected he will be an in.

I trust that clears that up.

i want some serious lineup experiments this week... gws off their bye so it may be our last chance to experiment until norf.

hoping for jordon/spargs/hibberd/jvr/chandler out for reasons below and BBB/bowey/tomo/melksham/woewodin in

jordon/spargs omitted, hibberd injured, jvr/chandler need rests, BBB in for jvr, petty up forward for chandler, bowey in for hibberd, tomo where petty was, woewodin for jordon and melksham sub

big changes but i think we need them

I'd swap Smith for Jordon and keep Petty at CHF and not play Brown as he doesn't work hard enough defensively

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
