Back 6 were [censored] unreal!

Adam Tomlinson take a bloody bow. Ive questioned his work this year but even after last week I was satisfied with his performance. This week he went up a notch! Lucky he wasn't dropped as @DeeSpencer was adamant he would... 😎

This now has to be our settled back 6 for the rest of the year.

Still think Petty will be there in September.

Tomlinson's lack of athleticism costs him against the better forward lines.

I honestly thought everyone played to their best. Yes there were mistakes but the run and attack from every Demon won the day

Geez Louise. Only we could have concocted a scenario where we nearly coughed up a game at the death that could’ve been won by 15 goals.

Looked flat?! They nearly overran us with seconds to go!

Incorrect. Tomlinson needs to play a role. He can concede 2-3 goals a game and we can still keep the opposition to under 10 goals because it allows May and Lever to play their natural game.
If he keeps this form up and we can play Petty forward, we will win the flag. Yes, I said it.

Being 16 points in front with 1:44 left on the clock, and having the ball in our hands from a point being kicked, we really shouldnt have seen this one go as close as it did.

Yes, it is unfair to brand him with that when there is such a wondrous variety of annoying American types to choose from.

Right.

You are going to be really disappointed for the rest of the season then.

I mean really.

Clueless comment.

And this is why I'll never buy in to the 'isn't he a great bloke' stuff

You can take the American out of America, but you can't take the arrogant, entitled [censored] out of the American

If this was about any other country there would be outrage about racism. Can't you just say you don't like the bloke and leave the anti USA out.

Personally, stuff him.

Why do umpires get to umpire teams back into games against us so often.

The umpires under instructions from the AFL regard themselves as 'entertainers par excellence', far more important than the players, and teams. If we killed The Filth by significant amounts, the 'entertainment' level and resultant anxiety from a spectator's point of view would be massively eroded. Plus, of course, this game was against The Filth and its hotline to the media in general, the AFL Headquarters, the gate receipts, the broadcast rights, the Tribunal and the thousands of toothless simple minds (so represented) in the Piggery. Sad to say, but evident.

I knew we would win, and JSmith would start making a supporting difference to the game up forward when I noticed several Demon supporters breaking out the French brie at 3/4-time. Of course, they didn't have any wine; who would drink the swill provided by the caterers at the ground - and you cannot bring a dusty but mature red into the ground as an accompaniment. Viney and Salem were great today - and May was a rock, well supported.

We are into 4.50 for the flag, Pies 4.00

Are we finally looking at a MFC v Pies GF? That would truly be amazing.

Not enough love for Lachie Hunter's hit on Hoskin-Elliot (3.54 left in the first quarter). Was awesome. Too bad Grundy couldn't finish the work off.

Tell me you're clueless about footy circa 2023 without saying you're clueless about footy circa 2023.

Pls Binno.

His fumbles and indecisiveness going i50 are killers. If we lost everyone else would be asking for his head too.

Perhaps he's just in the middle of a loading phase & he'll come good....?

Unbelievably gritty, hard and admirable win. We played our system and played it well. We were unbelievably patient and stubborn and that got us the game.

But I will say something.

We could be a dynastic team if we had a couple/few more elite ball users. Because my god do our best players butcher it consistently.

And that's something I hope we address in the off season.

17 tackles inside F50 to 4 and awesome pressure all over the ground creating doubt in the pies and turnovers.

That sort of effort will win plenty of matches.

Kick straight and that was a 5-6 solid victory.

Stoked with this win.

We won this game the way we like to win. Hard contested footy. Won clearances (without Oliver!) and contested possessions and dominated defensively.
That is pleasing as we know this method wins us a flag.

I really hope the younguns take the confidence gained from this game and never doubt themselves, that they can take on and easily be as good or better than much more fancied opponents.

A wonderful team effort, and when the chips were down, they ground it out and stood up with their more experienced team mates.

Joyous day!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
