Did our fwd line look totally inept to anyone else?

How are we going to score in the finals?

Is it all on Fritta?

Is Tommo an option?

Anyone else concerned about this?

Grundy is definitely not the solution.

Carlton has the best forward in the league and looked far more inept.

They outscored us.

And we have one of the best backlines in the league.

I expect Port to beat Freo next week. But playing Port or the Pies is achievable if we can find another tall forward in the next 3 weeks.

Well that was a fun weekend, not!!! Those losses to Essendon, Fremantle and GWS are coming home to roost. And now we have so really tough two games to come. It’s just been a real spluttering stop start sort of season, we haven’t really shown any domination at any period. And just when we start to show some genuine firepower up forward, it get shot in the foot (pardon the pun).

Let’s face it, the past few games haven’t exactly been emphatic have they? Great comeback against Brisbane, but they switched off, let Adelaide almost sneak in, Tigers up for 2.5 quarters ( and there recent form has been big ordinary), trail the second bottom team at half time, then out muscled by the in form team of the competition.

I feel bit sick at the moment, can honestly see us missing top 4 if we continue this patchy form. Hope I am wrong.

God some of you lot go to water quickly. It’s trench warfare we’re in. Blues through the whole lot at us and literally sneaked over the line. 95/100 times we win that game.

In all honesty, 9 times out of 10 they probably pay it a goal as well.

I get that it’s frustrating to lose such games but at the end of the day it means little. Finish 4th, beat the Pies get to the Prelim. That’s all we have to do

True. I was thinking about what if they actually called it a goal and what would that change? Just the 4 points really. Doesn’t change that we didn’t play great and our forward line has massive issues.

Must beat the Hawks of course.

If we don’t, and the Blues win up in the GC - that Sunday night back back of us in Sydney and Carl against GWS at home will be 4 teams playing for quite a bit.

I don’t want to be playing for anything.

What's the equal?

Someone the other day said Lever often makes bad decisions and should stop yelling so much and concentrate on his own game. And last night someone said our players don't work for each other.

So my understanding is this:

  1. If we go 2-0, we could finish 2nd (Brisbane loses at least once, and we maintain our percentage lead over them, and Port loses at least once), 3rd (either Brisbane wins out, or Port wins out), or 4th (both Brisbane and Port win out, meaning that we can't catch either of them)
  2. If we go 1-1, we can also finish 2nd but requires both Brisbane and Port to go 0-2. If one goes 0-2, we finish 3rd. If both win at least once, we'd finish 4th
  3. If we go 0-2, we'll finish 4th if Carlton lose at least once, but we'll finish 5th if Carlton win both games.

I think Brisbane will lose to Collingwood next week, but I think Port will beat Fremantle and Richmond. That means I think 2-0 most likely gets us 3rd (hard to see us going 2-0, Brisbane going 1-1, and yet our percentage dropping below theirs). That would see us playing Port in Adelaide in the QF.

If we go 1-1, IMO we play Collingwood in the QF.

If we go 0-2, IMO we finish 5th (I doubt Carlton lose again) and play someone like Adelaide or St Kilda, with a SF against Collingwood or (more likely) Carlton, with the reward being a PF on the road to Port or Brisbane.

?????

It would have assured top 4. Right now we are anything but assured. Not sure it "wouldn't have changed anything". Hasn't top 4 been the aim of the entire season to-date?

Yep, literally one of the best intercept defenders of all time makes bad decisions. And the captain of our defence - arguably the best defence of all time in 2021 - should keep his mouth shut. Jesus wept.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
