Bedford could play a role and may well eclipse ANB.

Bedford probably should come in for ANB but is it too late in the season?  These moves shouldve been trialled months ago.

JVR is still a kid and not far off taking on a stint in the big league.  Is the time right for this to happen now?  Probably not.  Again though, probably should have given him a small look at it a few months ago.

All these possible VFL options./ inclusions are looking highly unlikely timing wise.

Macca might be the only serious one who just might jump in over Melk after that performance.  Goody is a big Melk fan boy though.

Bowey in for Salem who was a mile off the level tonight.

Weid in as second ruck / TF for Jackson who was shizen?

Kozzie was awful as well but can't see him being dropped.

Was pretty bland against the Swans from what i witnessed.  Kicked one reasonable 'on the end of a chain' goal but certainly didn't impress or look a likely dangerous forward.

JVR was better on Sunday and has shown more signs (on occasions) of being a viable forward option at some point next season & onwards.  He might even be ready (just) for a short stint at AFL level now.  Not in a final though for mine.

The forward at Casey that actually looks the most dangerous (in a form / goal kicking / accuracy) sense right now is, weirdly enough, Mitch Brown.  Would he get picked?  Highly doubt it.

Bringing in T-Mac allows Jackson just to play ruck and concentrate on what he is best at, unfortunately he has no forward nous and doesn't offer a lot up forward.  but as a pure ruck of the bench i think this will help us much more.

Hunt just can't handle high pressure games, and this has happened over and over for him.  i also don't mind him staying in, but if we were to play Sydney again he can't play in that game.

Melsham could also be the out for T-Mac, but i think he played his role well and could have also been on the end of 2 goals. 

Salem didn't have a good night no but was tagged by a guy that has taken down the AA and many other quality HBF in the comp, he is AA quality himself,  stays in.

Only other change might be Harmes if he is suspended,  which he should be ok.  but not sure who comes in for him with JJ injured, maybe Chandler or Bedford

Would like to see Tom McDonald given a chance to play in the side for the finals.

I think we have a more dangerous forward line when we play two tall forwards.

Anyway, hopefully Petracca recovers from the massive corkie on his calf in time for the game against the Lions.

Bowey for Salem (gone completely backwards from last year and only getting a game on name only) and someone/anyone for Neal-Bullen (been a liability for months now). Maybe Chandler/Bedford/Dunstan? We really need another tall though but who do we have? Very tempting to go with TMac, maybe we have to give the Weid one final opportunity?

Melksham’s game was just about a career worst if that is possible, but he’s been relatively good over the past month, so can’t just drop him.

Goody has shown this year that time and time again he'll barely make any changes to the team regardless of the result.

We've had opportunities to bring in guys like JVR, Chandler etc to just try to mix it up bit and change up our forward half structure, but nope.. too late for that now unfortunately. We have not unearthed ONE player out of the 17 wins of a soon to be champion team who exist to provide young players and back ups for the AFL champs. 

On the train home I had a full on discussion with a very learned Dees lady fan of 60 plus years and she indicated that neither Laurie ( too slow and no standout skills) Chandler ( no special standout skills) and Bedford pacy ( but his ball handling not reliable) ARE NEVER going to make it and should not be retained in 2023 to pursue their career. 

While I can see some long term truth in that opinion the fact is that other than Toby being med sub no one has been given a real opportunity in over 20 games to kickstart their career on the Demons forward line.

Goody and the MC have been over the top loyal to our 2021 heroes especially ANB and Spargo ( and some will say Kossie but I refute that categorically) 
with Harmes Rivers BBB and Sparrow all below their stellar role output of 2021. 

Their was an open chance in Rounds 9 and 10 vs North and WCoast to awaken some of our team with demotion but it was missed hence many of the above have spluttered and choked the rest of the season and we still have no evidence that any of the Casey clan are any good for NEXT WEEK OR 2023 to solve urgent form issues. 

Dunstan despite a starring almost faultless output and two goal return is also under valued as a back up due to his alleged bloopers with his disposal with no real other demerit for promotion. 

So 2022 will pass and no stars of the future will be discovered except for the JVR protected species syndrome with every reason not to play AFL probably wisely given and Disco dreadfully unlucky debuting and injuring himself when debuting on QB. 

Have we been too loyal to our magnificent 2021 heroes? Yes IMO but I get the feeling that their average form and role playing potential is regarded as more reliable and better than a Casey BOG or promising consistent form in a cakewalk canter over a poor team in VFL.

Hence the likelihood of any/many/ even ONE forced change ( Tmac not quite ready yet) for next week barring injury or suspension stares us right in our face and dead set in the middle of our footy brain.

The pocket/halfforward/wing/bench rotation could have easily seen Laurie or another player get an opportunity to not only prove himself, but force others to prove themselves to supplant him - whether he makes it or not is anyones guess, but at least every line is kept on its toes. EDIT: I meant mid-year. Whether Goody makes a big gamble now is unlikely, but who knows.

Agree. The WC and North game was an opportunity to just rest some blokes and reward some players along the way.

As you say, Goody and coaching staff been far too loyal to the likes of Sparrow, ANB and Spargo to some degree who all have been average and underwhelming this year but yet continue to get rewarded for mediocrity. 

Clubs have worked out our system easily because we have barely changed our team structure to keep teams second guessing.

Brown is not it. Against week defence last year he did well. All contenders are super defensive sides this year and he isn't agile enough go be useful.

Our best footy of the last two years (except for our glorious September when our midfield was dominating) was at the start of 2021. If TMac is fit, we would be better off with neither Brown or Weideman.

ANB had a very poor year and yes gone backwards. He seemed to click in 2022 but somehow reverted to fumbling, turnovers, missed shots at goal and missed tackles. If he kicks the two shots last night, we were back in business. Goal accuracy is poor …  7 goals (16 behinds) in 22 games as a permanent half forward. He’s endurance is his strength but that’s not enough when you’re footy basics are below average.

Based on Goodwin’s presser, it sounds like Tracc is a 50/50 for next week. Got a kick in the calf. Goodwin described it as a contusion. Watched him closely at ground level and he was hobbling the whole game. Reckon we might be without him.
