That’s an aggressive contract that suggests we see Tobes as more than depth. Not sure I really see it, and if I was his manager I’d probably suggest he go with the team that provides him easier game time. Tricky decision for him.

Going to need him if we have an inkling kozzie might go

Didn’t place in the top 10 in Casey b and f despite playing majority of the year there

He's got good speed but no more / less than Chandler, for instance, and none of the same ability to win and use his own ball

He played 9 home and away games. 2 finals. That's why he didn't poll well.

Gut feeling but I think we need to keep Toby now. Keen to see him with another pre-season under his belt.

Looking forward to hearing which speedy player/(s) we are in discussions with for a trade?!

Bit of a hit to lose your 2 fastest players, when you don’t have an abundance of speed.

I didn't think this kid was going to make it when he was drafted. Now I'm upset to see him go.

I think we try trade our 2nd round selection (32) with Bedford for GWS 2nd round selection (21)

Works out to roughly pick 49 for Bedford which i think is fair.

The game is becoming more and more about speed and transition. A shame to see him go.

Another downside of not giving young players enough opportunities?

Sad to lose him because there’s still some upside to his game but it’s hard to keep guys who can’t get regular game time. He makes a lot of sense for GWS

yup just read this on twitter to, sad loss.

Time for Chandler to get his chance, and develop Andy Moniz-Wakefield in the VFL

Fair based on the amount he has played.

But an absolute waste from an MFC perspective. Develop him up for a few years, to then not give him a decent opportunity when he is ready for AFL is a real head scratcher for me.

All the best to Toby if he ends up at the Giants, had a few good moments this year and was keen to see more next year.

Will Kozzie have any housemates left?

Then 21 for Grundy

I haven't seen enough of them to compare, but how do Bedford, Chandler and Spargo compare in their ability to tackle and make those tackles stick?  Spargo does this pretty well for a small forward, and I suspect that Goody puts a lot of value in this.

Have seen just about nothing of Chandler - his one run this year was as I recall a part game (as sub) v North in which he was very harshly IMO suspended for two games and wants seen again.  I recall that he was going very hard at it when the incident occurred.

I think Chandler is the one. He had a great game in the VFL grand final and I saw him kick 5 in horrendous conditions at whiten oval from every angle you can imagine.

That is a shame. I think he has a future and to get him through the our academy and now he wants out. We can say no but you’d only do that if we see him in the best 22. If he is requesting perhaps we have said that he isn’t.

  • Grapeviney changed the title to Toby Bedford requests trade to GWS (updated)

This is one where I'll have to trust the FD. I would be keeping him.  If the kozzie talk is half true you'd think Bedford needs to stay. Having said that I think Chandler and a couple of others are also close to the small forward 22 slot

Ramifications of Goodwin not playing players, that IMO deserved a better go. Disappointed to see him go, Goody can’t keep playing favourites

A bit of a positive conspiracy theory...

- Toby wants more opporunity
- Rumours about Kozzy and Port
- Toby lives with Kozzy
- Toby has requested a trade

🤔

Seeing ANB come 8th in the B&F this year, would be enough to make anyone competing for his position want to depart.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
