Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Dees are so lucky to have got such a wonderful footballer as a replacement for Luke, but honestly, there’s not a better person in any footy club than Brodie. Ben Brown is a beauty, but Brodie is something special.  We had very influential people at Collingwood telling us all the time, that there was no better trainer at Collingwood than Brodie, and one of their Physios recently told me that in his seven years at the Club, as long as you didn’t want to talk footy, because he’s not a footy head,  you couldn’t meet a more interesting and engaged person with whom to talk.  Also said that he’s so good with the young blokes.

I can also assure you all that there are no doubts at all about lingering effects of last seasons injuries, Brodie 100% fit and ready to go.

I am on DL on a lot, but often only engage in and/or read two or three threads at any one time.

Which means that sometimes a thread such as this one pops up that has been dormant for a while and when i open it, I land on where i last read it, which is often yonks ago

In this instance my last read post was immediately before the one quoted above (which was posted October last year).

I hadn't read this post and just wanted to quote it because one it is a fantastic post (as is the very next one, also by godwindees) and two, everything i learned about Brodie since he has joined the dees says the post is spot on about him.

Yet one more big tick for the club - what a brilliant pick-up Brodie has been.

I think we need to get the chant going long and strong on KB. You just know those moronic Magpie fans will boo him continuously.

Yeah, they definitely will boo Brodie, ridiculous given that he was booted out against his wishes, but what do you expect, they’re Collingwood supporters. Realistically they greatly outnumber us, but that won’t weaken our resolve to be as loud as possible. He’s one of us now, we’ll support him just as we support all of our boys.

On the subject of booing, when we play Port in a couple of weeks, I for one will be extremely proud that my club’s supporters don’t boo JHF. Let’s set a great example of maturity, unlike other clubs to date. 👍🏽❤️💙

The DA had a moment with Brodie in the last quarter of Saturday’s game. He was up our end and the play was up the other end and we spontaneously started a “BroDEE GrunDEE” chant. He turned and left his opponent, walked towards us and without even looking at us gave us a very quick, very discreet horns gesture like this, but way more understated and sans the wide open mouth…

E6345FFC-61EB-40F3-8DCF-6BC8E1440155.thumb.jpeg.520c7ecad1c0d434abdf9cd4647f400f.jpeg

then quickly turned and walked back to his opponent. During play any type of engagement is never expected (understandably). But when it does happen it causes such a stir!

I just noticed that the above incident was captured, albeit from the back. Brodie was respectful of his opponent by not doing it for him to see, and clever to do it with his back to the cameras probs knowing someone in the media is bound to make a big deal of it.

Speaking of making a big deal of it, that’s what I’m doing right now, but only because players engage with us during warmups etc. but rarely during the match.

You wouldn’t know it happened unless you were told. So with four seconds to go in this little vid, you’ll see him and you’ll know that’s what he’s doing. And I promise to shut the hell up about it after this. 😁

Port fans will greatly outnumber us anyway, so I doubt there will be much booing of JHF.

True. Although during Gather Round Port fans outnumbered Bulldogs fans yet the booing by the Bulldogs fans could be heard.

One thing I love about Brodie is that every game only one sock falls down, as can be seen here again 😂

I’ve been wondering about the one long, one short sock; anyone know why? If I’m not mistaken the rest of the team wear short socks (they don’t appear to be long socks pulled down, but real short socks).

Long sock helps hold shin pad up.

Why the Fuurg we would boo this guy who had NOTHING to do with MFC is puzzling. I just dont get why anyone would bother booing!! Completely Mesmerizing WCW!

Exactly! The supporters of clubs other than North Melbourne have no reason to be angry with him. Maybe these supporters are angry about the #1 pick being able to change clubs after one year, but they shouldn’t take their anger out on him. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Curious that any think the Grundy "experiment " is even remotely done and dusted.

How marvellous to be able to time-travel 4 or 5 years hence ...and see how it all really went.

So far... so good.... much to play out

Trade while he has strong value. We'd get our money back effectively.

The only alternative is bye Max which no one wants and we must not do.

Recruit utility forward relief ruck at mediium cost (a younger TMac) and hopefully get seasons 24 and 25 out of Max.

Fast track Verral in 24 for use in 25

The present set up won't work and we are paying big money for the combo even with Pie's contribution

At this stage, all that Melbourne has done is rest Grundy for a week (Casey have the bye) and boosted our forward line (JVR to ruck up forward). Far too early to read anything into it long-term, but I guess that's what journalists are paid to do. In particular I don't listen to anything Damian Barrett says ever.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
