Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A lot of posturing goes on as part of trade negotiations. I'm surprised so many posters get sucked in by it.

This deal will get done today for pick 27 and maybe some later pick swaps. Pies can take it or leave it. I'm sure they'll take it cos they have no choice

Dees should trade out picks 13, 27 and F2 to Cats in return for their 7 and 25.  Dees trade 25 to Filth for Grundy. Cats trade 13 to Filth for Henry.

Dees free up $1m in salary cap by trading out Weids, Hunt, Bedford etc (Jackos exit covers Grundy). Dees target Whitfield (or Georgiades) by trading out our future first round pick plus what we get for Weids.

Dees bring in Grundy and Whitfield (or Georgiades) and go to draft with pick 7.

Hold fire on the Weed trade until this is done. We could get caught with pants down.

Thats my concern too.

Hopefully Tim Lamb has a contingency for a second ruck option if Grundy falls through.  We are not in an unbeatable negotiating position on this issue as some say.

Maybe we are and Tim has a solution.  Today will tell.

Blind Freddy could tell you we will not be trading Weid if the Grundy deal can't get done. The only way the Weid deal get done beforehand is if it is part of the Grundy trade or Collingwood gives us an undertaking that the pick we get for Weid will be acceptable as part of the trade for Grundy. However given the likely low pick I doubt that will be the case.

If the Grundy deal is dead then Weid will be the backup ruck. God help Max Gawn body if that is the case.

A bold suggestion @Big Red Rooster, the colossal crimson [censored] may be on to something?

Mate our list management process so far hasn't exactly filled many supporters with great confidence so far.

Everything Tim Lamb stated at the start of trade period has gone the complete opposite.

So apologies if many are confused by the direction all of a sudden.

Still 2 days to go and still confidence we'll add some experienced depth so far. I would hope.

Lamb looking very sacrificial at the moment!

This thread is turning into a Lamb roast. Let's not judge him until the we see the final outcome, the could be some big deals yet to come through. Source: Mint.

I’m sure we’ll end up getting Grundy but what happens if we don’t?

Who on the list will be our first ruck if Gawn misses games?

Who will be that player to allow Gawn to be fresh and injury free come September?

Does it matter? Ruck is the most over rated position on the ground. Dogs have gone with Bont in the ruck, Tigers have gone with Rioli at times. I'm sure we'll find some lug to bash and crash in the rookie/mid season draft if it comes to it, otherwise with our midfield it shouldn't matter anyway.

We're a bit deep into this now and have discussed plans for Grundy in the side, I 've never been the biggest fan of the trade but it would be a shame if it fell down now. Collingwood did this to themselves.

Simultaneously a shame for us and also funny at Collingwood, so somewhat of a win?

Sorry to be dim but does "Source :Mint" mean you have a great source on this (some big deal)?

How does Collingwoods no deal on Grundy compare to ours regarding LJ?

It is clear they have no leverage and risk busting their cap, but I believe them whereas we could afford to lose LJ and potentially get him to WC but looked like a deer in headlights.

Grundy in contract.  Jackson wasn't.

They are bluffing.  They want to get Fiorini from GCS and Mitchell from Hawks.  If they keep Grundy they have neither the sal cap nor draft picks to do those trades.

A pick within first 25 was their ambit claim.  As others have said about our trades there is no reason to meet what they want.  Even tho he is under contract they don't want him.  Not much leverage.

Call their bluff!

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
