Name calling when titan makes totally valid points. Pretty toxic behaviour.  I was behind that pocket and tmac was in defence for a majority of the doggies run. I would say that our defence was definitely not tight during that period. E.g. Treloar goaling fromt and centre and loose defending. Not sure i'd attribute that to TMac but to me I think we structure up better TMac ahead of the ball

Do you know titanur's surname?

starting premiership 7: may, salem, lever, hibberd, bowey, rivers, petty

tall depth: tomlinson, turner, j smith

small depth: hunt, baker, d smith

covering tall depth: van rooyen, mcdonald, daw, m brown

covering small depth: harmes, brayshaw, jordon

Agreed.  Love the fact we have gun defence then pretty good backup coverage.  Want to see Hibbo, Riv, Lever and Salem back (Petty to miss 2022) but ok to cover in short term.

This is obviously related to the changes for next week thread but more about going forward for the rest of the year.

We are obviously very unlucky to have all our injuries in one area of the ground.  5 of our 7 premiership defenders!

Smith, Hunt, Tomlinson in, Brayshaw to come back from the wing (Jordon to take his wing) and when Salem went down TMac goes back and Smith goes from a tall to a small.

While TMac did an incredible job, I think most supporters would remember why he has moved forward in the first place - which is the reason why he is not a permanent fix down there.

So if not TMac, who goes back if we had the same number of injuries in defence?  Who would be next cab off the rank?  I'm thinking maybe Melksham?  Or would Deakyn Smith be ready?  Hopefully we won't have to worry about this with a bunch of them back next week.

If Tmac does go back would it be worth a shot to trial the Sam w up fwd? Too much of a gamble at this stage?

I don't like seeing Tom down back. Not because hes not effective but I have not forgotten how much he did in so many games up fwd last year.

The talk around draft time was that we were trying to move up the draft order to pick Darcy Wilmot( Brisbane picked him at pick 16). He is touted as the best small lockdown defender in last years draft with very good skills coming out of defence.
Due to the fact that we would probably  haven to give up our first 2 picks to get him I wonder if we might target another small lockdown type ?
Or perhaps we just really rated his talent.

Is Petty going to be out for all of 2022?

Naughton was the only forward that did anything for the dogs and I doubt anyone could have stopped him. As a unit our backs were very good

Correct weight, if Naughton gets and uninterrupted run at the ball no one is stopping him. Same applies for Big Benny Brown no one on this planet is disrupting him when those go go gadget arms are extended.

I'll also add that we have a multitude of options for tall defensive cover that makes us the envy of the comp.

Not many clubs have experienced capable bodies like Mitch Brown or Majak Daw floating around to cover injuries to key personnel.

We are in good hands with crazy amounts of depth. We are in safe hands these days fellow Demons.

It will be interesting to see how Moniz- Wakefield, McVee, Turner and Taj shape up from memory Taj’s old man went ok at half back.!!

TMac wasn’t at fault in the 2nd Quarter

it was all from the center

If we lost May whilst all these guys are out I reckon we’d see Majak get games. Let’s just hope it never gets to that, but I reckon he’d go ok if needed for a few weeks!

Our replacement most likely would be Tmac at this stage. Maybe Tommo at FB or later in the season Turner when fit may be a possibility.
Even JVR might be a chance down the track.

Agree our mids were stagnant and Dogs had a free run for a while.

But we stabilised and from say halfway through 2nd quarter we kicked those 2 goals and as in the GF only conceded 3 goals in the second half.

Brilliant work by all the players in defence and the others who assisted by repositioning or just getting back to help.

Took the whole team a while to stabilize after Salem went down. He is that important.
but i was very impressed during the 2nd half, the defence was still playing the same way

Agree yes Tmac got them feeling better also as Maysie had his hands full with Nort.  But Maysie 2nd half was back to his best.
Yes very good team effort from our defenders and their willing assistants from the mids and wingers.

Total team effort again.

I don't think our mids alone were to blame for the string of goals the dogs got. Her whole team defensive structure fell apart and took time to get back in order. The fact that we still managed to get the 4 points was a huge testament to the ability of our players and the work of our coaches. We must not rush him back but the sooner we can get Lever back in the team the better

We definitely lost a bit of structure once Salem went down which is completely understandable.
I was so impressed with our ability to adjust and Tmac just went back and we fixed it all up in a quarter which was sensational against a very good team.
However it has to be noted that the Dogs have a very poor forwardline beyond Naughton so we got lucky in that aspect. They had decent amount of entries. A better forwardline would have capitalized.

Yeah look thanks for sticking up for me @Deefiant but given the word "anus" is right there in my username, I don't think SWYL was really reverting to anything nasty by way of name calling.

And FWIW agree, I am strongly of the view that we need TMac forward, or if not TMac then Weideman or another key forward alongside Brown and Gawn/Jackson.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
