News just coming out former Dee Harley Balic has passed away aged 25.

Very very sad news.

Just to add - 24 hour support is available at Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Just saw it on another platform.

Incredibly sad.

Poor bugger. Family tragedy.

Keep your eyes out for the signs, everybody. Can happen to anybody, anytime...

Absolute tragedy.
Heartbreaking.

Just horrible news. A young man marred with mental illness who left the game in his pursuit to happiness. Unfortunately it was not found and this is the result. Just horrible. I feel deeply for him and his family.

Hopefully he has found what he thought he could not find in this life. Be at peace Harley.

Thoughts and condolences go out to his no doubt devastated family.

Very sad. Harley came back and played a few games with my local club, the Parkdale Vultures, a couple of years back, but even then he didn't seem to be enjoying his football greatly. It is so sad when young people with their whole lives in front of them can't find happiness in anything that they do.

I have a son his age. Can’t even begin to imagine what his mum/family is going through. Harley is now at peace. My heart breaks for the people he’s left behind. 😢

So real but so hard to fathom.  RIP Harley.

The two brothers are Harley Balic and Shane Yarran - both tragically no longer with us.

Thanks. I wondered who the 2nd brother was.
just too sad. 25. Still a baby really

I hope the MFC reach out to Harley

Oh dear this is so sad to hear, condolences to the young man's family.

Mens mental health is sadly a growing trend in this country.

Horrible news. The kid had a tough life from the sounds of it and had his demons. RIP

Terribly sad.  He was a talented young man. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

For all of us, please remember to take care of yourself and look after others.

We all have someone in our life who we worry about in this regard. But we also all have people who seem "all good", who are the ones always helping others, who are thought to be too successful, too happy or whatever to be struggling. Let's not forget to check in on that person too, the one who's probably never asked, "Are you ok?"

Unfortunately, this is happening more and more. We cannot understate this aspect and gone are the old days of sucking it up which I grew up with in my formative years of the sixties and seventies. Men's health is now a priority and the more that we lend an empathic ear and support to other men, the better we become in unilateral and unconditional solidarity. RIP Harley P.F

Terrible

Deepest deepest sympathies to his family

What can you say

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
