Gosh a lot of us here have had to eat copious amounts of humble pie in 2021 havent we. Not just the goodwin guys but theres  been quite a few pies made to feed folks here  in regards to Lever, May, Neale Bullen, Spargo and Harmes as well  . In regards to my particular slice...( Im sorry Spargo) I can only say that humble pie never tasted so good and please serve me up another  big slice on Sat night!

We need a poll.

That’s a terrific honour for Simon, and I agree with his comment thats it’s a recognition of where the club is at.

What a turn around. Most likely to be fired to coach of the year in 6 months.

Is he the guy though?

Yes. Yes he is. Wouldn't take another coach ahead of him.

Congrats Goody. Ted Lasso inspired love for his players has turned it around. Burgess and Choco also share in this. I’d still give Clarko the job if he was available.

Just a fantastic achievement.

Well done Goody and thank you for bringing us so much joy to us in what's been an extremely dark year for all.

Seems wildly unfair that anyone on here can slag off any one of our players or coaching staff and wind it back with a 'schucks, I got it wrong' mea culpa, but gloating is considered so unseemly in comparison. And I use the term 'mea culpa' deliberately, we simply wouldn't be here on grand final eve if a lot of our fans and posters got their way last year.

Anyways, [censored] it: I've always thought Simon was the right guy, and my record will reflect that, and I feel especially chuffed with this recognition for Goody for what he has turned this team into. Go Dees!  And for anyone still deflecting to (the undoubtedly influential) Yze and Choco as prime instigators of our flag charge, look up confirmation bias and then go back and reflect on our past four years as a club under Goodwin.

A good coach can coach a good side but it takes and exceptional coach to turn the worst club in the comp, by far, in to a grand finalist.

Perhaps, we as supporters, didn't quite understand just how badly run we were and how hard it was for the administration and the coach to turn it around. After listening to the story of how it all came about, as related by PJ, I understand what we had to to through.

Goody has done an exceptional job as coach of the Melbourne Footy Club.

He certainly deserves this award, and not because we finished on top, but because of the fantastic job he's done over the last 5 years.

Fantastic recognition of the work and accomplishments he has achieved so far this year. One major one to go though, keep on trucking Goody.

For some reason I have been drawn to Simon Goodwin from the get go, maybe it was because Roo’s and PJ anointed him or just his calmness and maturity. He won the boys over and surrounded himself with a winning support team and between Goody his coaching team and the playing group they have turned our club into a club to be proud of and now we are challenging for the Ultimate prize. Thank you PJ, Paul Roos and last but not least Simon Goodwin dual premiership player.!!!💕💙❤️

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
