Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I certainly don’t want to spread negativity but I have been struck by how annoyed and disappointed I’ve felt this week about missing the finals and now the GF. I though maybe we could leave our thoughts here and keep the other threads upbeat.

after all these years I never thought I’d be missing all the games, the excitement, the chance To celebrate in pubs and on the streets.

I even considered if I’d prefer to lose so i might be able to see The curse broken in person. Then I came to my senses and realised we may very well not be in a GF for another 20 years. Remember the pies of 2010? So young, they’ll dominate for 6-7 years. So I’m pumped as to see the boys play next week

anyway, I’m interested if others are feeling similar

It sucks yes but we don’t live in Afghanistan so there is that. Feet up, a Bowen Estate or Henschke or Tahbilk then hopefully a Balvenie post game (only if we win) should be quite restorative. Getting to the first home game for the unfurling (if we manage to win) will assuage the annoyance of not being there somewhat.

This team though has a feeling of being able to get there again over the next few years.

The only period I lived in Melbourne when Melbourne were making finals I was so poor I would walk from Windsor to Carlton to save the tram fare when catching up with friends. In 2005 I listened to the round 22 game against Essendon on the radio because I didn't have a TV and couldn't afford a drink at a pub to justify using their space.

Suck it up. We'll all have a big party together soon enough and the victory will be with us for life.

Hard times Goffy.

I at least knew that you could a jump a cab at Mebourne Uni and never be arrested because you're on Federal Land.

Yeah it sucks, but what can you do?

Some of us (Queenslander here) have only witnessed a single game in the past 8 years, but it hasn't diminished the love I have for the club or the amount of damage I do to my lungs, liver and nervous system while supporting the Dees.

You've no choice but to suck it up mate. The Chinese don't care about our feelings.

Might not live in Afganistan but it feels like Guantanamo.
Cross the Murray river here to get milk and I need a border pass to get back into Vic.
Tracking devices even got clipped onto us at work yesterday.
Looking forward to a wrist tattoo next.
But hey .... Follow the science.

I’m glad this thread was brought up and it stings being a locked down Melbournian that is missing out on our clubs biggest fortnight in our history.

Let’s call a spade a spade here. Winning a premiership on a 57 year drought while in a severe lockdown is simply not as good as watching it live at the home of footy with  40,000 other diehard MFC people. How can it possibly be if you have GF guaranteed tickets but are instead subject to a 9pm curfew?

To be denied the experience that supporters of Richmond (2017), Dogs (2016), Geelong (2007) Sydney (2005) experienced is a sad realisation and one you can’t get back.

Yep everyday is a heavy day in Melbourne. Winning a flag next Saturday will be incredible but it would not be as incredible as it should be. We won’t get to experience the joy we so richly deserve the way every other club has.
Covid has robbed so many people of so much. You can add this to the list of things.

I know but they are a tiny percentage of our supporter base. The large majority of us are in lockdown and after years of dragging ourselves to games to watch us get destroyed, we are finally on the verge of real success and we don’t get to be there to enjoy it.

Not being able to get to the game is one thing.
Not being able to turn up to the 'G' on mass to give the conquering players a heros welcome on their return is another.

I get it Jaded. I would have loved to be at the G last weekend to witness our demolition of the Cats. What an experience that would have been! If the boys do bring the cup home i'm sure we'll have a proper celebration as soon as this goddam lockdown is lifted.

Albury here.

Played a couple of years in Corowa. In laws live in Corowa and planned on having Grand Final day. Unfortunately we've just gone to snap 7 day lockdown so it's looking like I'll be watching Grand Final on my own if things don't improve..

Afghan isn’t all that bad. The upsides there were that I slept in a hole during the day that I dug myself and carried my poo around in my pack.

I do feel for all the Melbourne supporters back home who missed out on the finals and the GF and apologise for my excited post I made after getting tickets, all Demonlander’s definitely deserve to be there. I have no doubt that we’re going to be up the top for a while though so fingers crossed for next year.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
