I swear the world is conspiring to kill me before I get a chance to watch Melbourne win a flag.
Let me live goddamit!

Felt it up here in Canberra.

Hearing reports it just opened up the gates of hell.

Fitting it was under Mt Buller.

The demons and fallen angels are arriving for the big game at the G.

Someone else can tell them...

Reports of Mt Buller being near the epicentre: confirmation of the Norm Smith Curse lifting hypothesis?

I'd have thought wearing black balaclavas would be fronwed upon in your line of work.

I've got this really bad feeling I'm going to wake up on grand final today and it's going to be like the Twilight Zone where there is no-one around and the Earth has stood still..

Yes but do I still get to watch us win a flag?

No omens.  Just Demons.  This group looks from the media that they are focused, gracious and understand its the team aspects that will get the job done.  This bodes as the omen that I see - not ahead of themselves, not focusing on a messiah, but ready to go and do a job.  In with a good chance, I reckon.

Beveridge is such a good coach...they are going to put a lot of work into Gawn, Lever, Petracca and maybe Salem. It's going to be hard for those guys to have huge games. We need our big guns to compete and contribute and we're going to need big games from the others to get this done. Plus they all must apply massive pressure to the Dogs so they can't do the things they want to do either, which is prerequisite number 1.

If you listen to CLarkson and Hardwick discussing tactics for the weekend they say that you can't really tag players anymore. Maybe one but if you do that you upset your team plan and the way you play.

Teams just don't play one on one any more so you might be able to nullify Trac or Oliver or Gawn or May or Lever or Fritsch or Salem but not all of them and probably not more than two of them.

I don't think the Bulldogs will tag anyone maybe Schache minding Lever will probably do. Harmes will do a loose tag at stoppages on Liberatore and that's about it everyone else will roam free.

Yeah agree with that mostly. I think more than tagging though...they are going to be very physical with Gawn and Lever. I expect them to be getting pushed and shoved and niggled constantly through the match, particularly when the ball is dead. We will need to overcome this kind of stuff, which will be best done by giving the Dogs a level of physical pressure they have never seen before when the ball is alive.

I think this is where the game will be one and lost. The mids are going to be a tough battle across both sides. The difference in round 19 (apart from biased dogs umpires) was Daniel was allowed to be free and had 34 possessions to setup play going forward.  He must be stopped and negated.

“I am sure it [getting physical] is an option. It is not something we have spoken about … but I am sure teams have tried lots of different things on him in the past to try and curb his influence, and being physical is, obviously, one of those,” Hunter said.

That is probably why Martin is in the team.

They are copying Port round 1 2018. The difference is Max will be ready and this time teammates will have his back.

At worst Max takes a few for the team while others get free.

We definitely need to be prepared for the Bulldogs to try the physical stuff. It's been a tactic of theirs for years, and until very recently a weakness of ours.

May, Viney etc need to be at their best, and annihilate the first Bulldog who tries to take Max out illegally.

What's the latest on May's hammy?

I want to win at any cost and I don’t care if players are suspended next year. This could be our only chance for another few decades, so we need to win no matter what.

If they go after Max or anyone else physically, then we go after them when the opportunity is there. If Viney has a chance to tackle someone big, then I want them buried halfway to China and stretchered off the ground.

No one but us bitter Demons supporters remember Essendon as thugs in 2000. They are remembered as winners, big winners. It’s our turn to be winners, whatever the cost. Bury them Dees.

What Schwarz did sickened me. He done nothing, he should of rag dolled Long when he knocked out Simmonds never got touched and don't get me started on that thug Wallis it's criminal what he did.

I'd prefer Jack Viney did it.

I think Fritsch is in for a big game he will probably get Wood who usually plays very loose. He caused them heaps of problems in our win against them and I think he will do it again. T.Mac will have a huge game. Cordy isn't a footballers bootlace. Tommy will smash him and last of all Neal-Bullen and Spargo must stop Daniel and Dale from distributing the ball from half back.

He might not be the only one getting wood on Saturday night…🤓

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
